*Chaffin wins Truck Series MBNA America 200*
--------------------------------------------
DOVER, Delaware (Ticker) - Chad Chaffin turned an early problem
into some good fortune.
Chaffin won his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck series event
Friday, capturing the MBNA America 200 at Dover International
Speedway.
Making his 38th career start, Chaffin drove his Dodge around the
one-mile concrete track at an average speed of 98.996 miles per
hour to edge Rick Crawford by .382 seconds. Crawford was
driving a Ford.
Chaffin, who started ninth, took the lead during a caution
period and was able to hold on over the final 52 laps. He became
the sixth different winner in six races this season and earned
$55,260 for his victory.
The win did not come easy as Chaffin had a tire problem early in
the race, forcing him to the pit area. But the problem helped
him avoid another stop late in the race, enabling him to have
enough gas left.
After Kevin Weaver's frontstretch accident on lap 190, Chaffin
found the winner's circle after the race went green for the
final four laps.
The race was slowed for 42 laps by six cautions. There were
four lead changes among five drivers.
Hank Parker Jr. and Mike Skinner were third and fourth in
Toyotas. Ken Schrader placed fifth in a Chevrolet.
Points leader Dennis Setzer finished 18th in a Chevrolet.
Pole-sitter Carl Edwards was 14th in a Ford.
