Softball makes its third Olympic appearance and will be competed
between August 14-23 at the Olympic Softball Stadium.

The competition, solely for women, will be an eight-team,
round-robin format with the top four teams advancing to the
medal round.

The eight teams in the tournament: United States, Australia,
China, Japan, Italy, Canada, Chinese Taipei and Greece.
