DALLAS COWBOYS
--------------

B Quincy Carter passed for a career-high 268 yards, but
committed two turnovers - a fumble and an interception - in 
Sunday's loss to Atlanta. ... Coach Bill Parcells may have a 
short leash on K Billy Cundiff, who missed a short field goal 
and an extra point in Sunday's loss. ... WR Joey Galloway 
caught seven passes for 139 yards, including a 49-yard TD on
Sunday. ... RB Aveion Cason rushed for 77 yards on just two
carries, including a 63-yard TD.
 
NEW YORK GIANTS
---------------

Rookie free agent Jeff Roehl stepped in at left tackle 
for the final three quarters of Sunday's win over St. Louis
after Luke Petitgout suffered back spasms.  The Giants dressed
only seven linemen for the game. ... RB Tiki Barber rushed for
146 yards Sunday for his 10th career 100-yard game.  He rushed
for 113 of those yards in the second half. ... New P Jeff 
Feagles planted two punts inside the 10-yard line. ... The 
Giants defensive line sacked QB Kurt Warner six times and hit 
him a dozen times in Sunday's win.  LB Michael Barrow had two
sacks and eight tackles.  DE Kenny Holmes recovered two 
fumbles, including one he fell on in the end zone for a 
touchdown after rookie DT William Joseph knocked the ball 
loose from Rams QB Kurt Warner.
 
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

The Eagles are 0-2 for the first time since 1999 -
Andy Reid's first year as coach.  The Eagles also have
lost consecutive games for the first time since September
2000. ... QB Donovan McNabb looked lost in Sunday's loss
to New England.  He completed just 18-of-46 passes for
186 yards, threw two interceptions, lost a pair of 
fumbles and was sacked seven times. ... The Eagles
endured another injury along the defensive line
when DT Paul Grasmanis suffered a season-ending
torn Achilles tendon. He is the third defensive linemen
that has been lost for the season, joining Derrick Burgess
(Achilles) and Jamaal Green (leg). ... The Eagles are
0-3 in the last three seasons preceding their bye week.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS

The Redskins are 2-0 for the first time since 1991
- the last time they won the Super Bowl. ... QB Patrick 
Ramsey passed for a career-high 356 yards and two
touchdowns in Sunday's win at Atlanta. ... It also was
a career day for WR Laveranues Coles also had a career
day with 11 catches for 181 yards and a touchdown. 
RB Rod Gardner also had a big day with nine receptions
for 118 yards and a TD. ... In the third quarter, the 
Redskins held a lopsided 146-7 advantage in total yards. 

NFC NORTH

CHICAGO BEARS
-------------

The Bears allowed scoring drive of 92 and 93 yards in
Sunday's loss at Minnesota. "We had our chances to stop them 
and get off the field," LB Brian Urlacher said. We need 
to learn how to do the things and make plays to win games."
... QB Kordell Stewart completed 13-of-21 passes for 137
yards and a touchdown before being forced to leave the
contest late in the fourth quarter with a strained neck.
... RB Anthony Thomas rushed for 53 yards, but 34 came on
one play.

DETROIT LIONS
-------------

The Lions on Monday signed CB Alex Molden, who was
most recently with Washington.  A first-round pick of New
Orleans in 1996, Molden played five years with the Saints
and two seasons with the San Diego Chargers. ... WR Charles
Rogers became the first rookie to record touchdowns on his
first two catches since Tony Horne for St. Louis in 2000.
Horne accomplished his feat over two games.  Rogers is the
first Lions rookie to catch two TDs in his first game since
Earl McCullough in the second game of the 1968 season. ... QB
Joey Harrington threw four touchdowns in a game for the first
time in his career in the season-opening win over Arizona.
The last Lions QB to throw four touchdowns in a game was 
Scott Mitchell against Chicago on September 22, 1996. ...
The 42 points was the most in a season opener for Detroit 
since a 45-7 win over Pittsburgh on September 16, 1962.
The margin of victory was also the highest for the Lions 
since a 55-20 win over Chicago on November 27, 1997.
 
GREEN BAY PACKERS

QB Brett Favre (3,692) surpassed Fran Tarkenton (3,686)
for fourth place on the NFL's all-time completions list. He
trails only Warren Moon, John Elway and Dan Marino. ... RB 
Ahman Green rushed for 160 yards and a touchdowns.  The 
Packers improved to 16-0 when Green rushes for at least
100 yards. ... RB Tony Fisher caught a five-yard touchdown
pass, the first of his career. ... In his return to the
Packers, WR Antonio Freeman has four catches for 32 yards.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

The Vikings have won five straight regular-season
games dating to last season. ... Minnesota rushed for
202 yards in Sunday's win over Chicago. ... RB Moe
Williams led the ground attack, rushing for 108 yards
and a touchdown. ... After not carrying the ball in
the season opener, rookie RB Onterrio Smith rushed
for 47 yards on nine attempts. ... At halftime, the 
Vikings retired former wide receiver Cris Carter's 
No. 80 jersey.  He is the club's all-time leader in
receptions, yards, receiving touchdowns and total yards.

NFC SOUTH

ATLANTA FALCONS
---------------

The Falcons went just 1-of-11 on third down in 
Sunday's loss to Washington. ... After starting 5-of-8
for 93 yards, QB Doug Johnson went just 11-of-28 for 
104 yards the rest of the way. "We stalled on a lot 
of drives and kept giving the ball back to them," 
Johnson said. You can't really expect your defense 
to keep getting the ball back for us." ... Coach 
Dan Reeves remained one win shy of reaching 200
in his career. ... Atlanta surrendered 435 total
yards and 23 first downs.

CAROLINA PANTHERS

One week after S Mike Minter blocked a field goal to
preserve a win, DT Kris Jenkins blocked an extra point to
force overtime.  Jenkins also blocked a 38-yard field goal
in the second quarter. ... In his first start as a Panther,
QB Jake Delhomme completed just 9-of-23 passes for 96 yards
and two interceptions. ... The Panthers relied on RB Stephen
Davis, who carried 33 times for 142 yards. Davis is the
first Panther since Tshimanga Biakabutuka  in 1999 to rush
for at least 100 yards in consecutive games. ... Coach John 
Fox indicated that LB Mike Caldwell (knee) could return
to the lineup following the bye week.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
------------------

QB Aaron Brooks was booed in pregame introductions.
But he did not little the negative reaction affect his
performance as he completed 18-of-27 passes for 189 yards
and two touchdowns. ... After getting off to a slow start, RB 
Deuce McAllister finished with 96 yards rushing and a
touchdown. ... WR Joe Horn, who was questionable with a
bruised knee, had 10 receptions for 111 yards. ... LB
Sedrick Hodge suffered a fractured knee and CB Dale Carter 
left the contest with a concussion.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
--------------------

WR Joe Jurevicius will be sidelined four to six weeks
with a torn MCL in his right knee.  Jurevicius was injured
in Sunday's loss to Carolina while blocking on a running
play. ... The Bucs had at least one sack and one interception
for the 43rd straight game, the longest streak in the league
in 40 years. ... Tampa Bay has lost its last two home openers
in overtime, falling last season to New Orleans. ... DT Warren
Sapp moved into seventh place on the Bucs' all-time list with
127 games played. ... QB Brad Johnson attempted 61 passes,
completing 34.

NFC WEST

ARIZONA CARDINALS
-----------------

RB Emmitt Smith's impact on ticket sales was not felt
in the season opener.  The Cards drew a crowd of just 23,127
to Sun Devil Stadium for Sunday's contest against Seattle. 
... Arizona committed turnovers on its first four possessions
and finished with six on the day. ... It was the Cardinals' 
worst home loss since a 52-10 debacle against Philadelphia
on November 8, 1981. ... To make matters worse, QB Jeff 
Blake left the contest with a bruised left heel with 1:55 
left in the first quarter.  QB Josh McCown played the 
rest of the game and completed 18-of-32 passes for 
150 yards and two touchdowns.

ST. LOUIS RAMS
--------------

Coach Mike Martz has a decision to make on his starting
quarterback.  QB Marc Bulger recovered from shaky start to
complete 25-of-36 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns
in Sunday's victory over San Francisco. QB Kurt Warner, who
suffered a concussion in the season opener, was in uniform
as Bulger's backup. ... Rookie KR Arlen Harris muffed a 
punt in the first quarter that led to a touchdown.  But he
redeemed himself in overtime by returning a kickoff 46 yards
to set up Jeff Wilkins' game-winning field goal. ... RB
Marshall Faulk had 90 total yards, passing Thurman Thomas
for 10th place on the all-time list with 16,560 yards.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
-------------------

QB Jeff Garcia and WR Terrell Ownens both suffered mild
concussions in the first half of Sunday's game at St. Louis,
but returned to the contest.  Garcia led the tying drive late
in the fourth quarter, capping the march with a 13-yard TD
pass to Owens. ... RB Garrison Hearst ran hard the entire
afternoon and finished with 89 yards on 11 carries. 
... K Jeff Chandler, who went 5-of-5 in the season 
opener, missed a 43-yard field goal in the second quarter.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
----------------

Seattle improved to 2-0 for the first time in five
seasons with Sunday's victory at Arizona. ... It was the 
Seahawks' first shutout since a 38-0 blanking of 
Philadelphia in the 1998 season opener. "It's building
blocks for a good season," coach Mike Holmgren said.
... The Seahawks were without starting WR Koren Robinson,
who was suspended for unspecified violation of team rules.
... Rookie FS Ken Hamlin had a hand in three turnovers. He
had an interception and hard hits led to another pick and
a fumble.
