the youngest switch-hitter in major-league history to reach the
38 home run plateau in a season. ... Rookie Laynce Nix homered
off Gil Meche in the series finale Sunday. He is 4-for-8 against
Meche and all four of his hits are home runs. ... Chan Ho Park
finished 2-0 against the Mariners at Safeco, pitching 14
scoreless innings. He is 2-7 with a 6.39 ERA against all other
opponents. ... The Rangers finished the season with an 89-73
record, an 18 game improvement over last season. ... The Rangers
win Sunday gave them their first series win at Safeco Field
since it opened in 2000
