SS Pokey Reese was expected to start Opening Day for Seattle,
but was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a sore
right shoulder. ... Wilson Valdez, who was claimed off waivers
April 1 from the New York Mets, started in his place. ... LHP
Jamie Moyer made his third career Opening Day start. Last year,
Moyer was pounded for six earned runs and three homers in a 10-5
loss to the Angels on Opening Day. "Different team, different
day, different year.  Last year's over," said Moyer. ... RF
Ichiro Suzuki, who set a major league record with 262 hits last
year, hit .437 in spring training, including a 19-game hitting
streak.  He went 2-for-3 against Minnesota starter Brad Radke in
