Wednesday, October 24, 2001Get your WrestleMania X-8 ticket infoThere are just 10 days to go until you can get your tickets for WrestleMania X-8 at Toronto's SkyDome on Sunday, March 17, 2002. Tickets go on sale Saturday, November 3 at 10 a.m. ET, but they are going to cost you. The first nine rows of ringside are slated to be 'Platinum Ringside Seats', and will set you back $600 Cdn (approx. $420 USD) for each ticket. But hey, you get to keep the commemorative WrestleMania chair. From there, things get a little foggy as the complete layout of SkyDome for the TV event has not been completely finalized, but here's an attempt to explain, with all prices in Canadian dollars:
Ticketmaster by phone is (416) 870-8000 in Canada and (716) 852-5000 in the U.S. Long-distance charges may apply. You can also order online via Ticketmaster.ca, but the server end up being too much. Tickets will also apparently be available online at WrestleMania.Com. Note that the conversion from Canadian to American dollars is done by your credit card company, at the rate they have chosen. Some tickets have obviously been already taken up by the WWF, with their various travel packages, sponsors and partners. At recent WWF shows, including the stop in Ottawa, people were given a flyer on the way in to the arena rewarding "loyal WWF fans" with advance ticket sales for WrestleMania X-8. On November 2nd, fans can go to a Canadian TicketMaster outlet or to the TicketMaster web site to order their tickets, provided they offer up "Code 18" as the reference number. The WWF expects to top the 63,000 (billed by them as 67,678) that they had at WrestleMania VI, which had a 4 p.m. start time. Ticket prices back in 1990 ranged from $150 for 'Golden Ringside' to $25 in Level 500. The on-sale date back then was Monday, February 5, 1990. About 10,000 tickets were sold in the first hour in 1990, and 50,000 tickets had been sold by early March. Immediately after WrestleMania VI ended, the WWF started promoting to top the attendance record with a show at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for March 24, 1991. Due to security concerns with the Gulf War, the event was moved to the Los Angeles Sports Arena. Fan Axxcess will run from Thursday, March 14 to Saturday, March 16 at the Automotive Building at The National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place. Tickets for Fan Axxcess won't go on sale until the new year. More on Wrestlemania XVIII
