The Rock to star in bounty-hunter comedy
By JAM! Movies
Universal Pictures wants a piece of The Rock.
Variety reports that the studio has lined up two projects for the grappler: an action comedy entitled "Hunting Bronze" and an untitled project by "L.A. Confidential" screenwriter Brian Helgeland.
The faith shown in the acting chops of The Rock, a.k.a. Dwayne Johnson, is extraodinary, considering that his featured role in "The Mummy Returns" amounted to about 10 minutes.
But Johnson is receiving a big portion of the credit for the film's out-performance of "The Mummy"'s" box-office. The Rock will star in his own spin-off project, "The Scorpion King," out next year.
Few details were released about the Helgeland project, except that the piece was not written specifically for Johnson.
Variety described "Hunting Bronze" as a "Midnight Run"-style action comedy, which casts The Rock as a bounty hunter seeking a wanted man who is also being chased by a vengeful cop.
