Mrs. Hart definitely class act
By DON 'Cyrus' CALLIS -- For SLAM! Wrestling
Helen Hart, the matriarch of the Hart wrestling family recently
passed away after a long stay in hospital. She is survived by her husband, the
legendary Stu Hart and many children and grandchildren. Joe Aiello and I had
acknowledged it on our the NHB Radio show, but after reading Bret Hart's
Calgary Sun column this week, I found myself remembering Mrs. Hart once more.
I first met Mrs. Hart on a trip I did to Germany in 1994. We were there for
a month and Stu and Helen had been brought over on the trip along with several
of the Hart brothers to make appearances. It was also my first time meeting
Stu, and I spent a lot of great time at our morning breakfasts listening to
Stu's stories, in awe of the legend before me.

Queen of Harts unforgettable
New York girl a timeless lady blessed with grace and class

Somehow it is most appropriate. Appropriate the card given out at
Helen Hart's funeral features Helen in classic black and white, striking a
pose reminiscent of the bygone stars of the silver screen, looking more than a
little like the glamourous and gorgeous Rita Hayworth.
I never knew Helen's real age. Any time I spoke with Helen she would laugh and tell me she was 38.

Helen Hart: A friend's recollection
By BOB
LEONARD -- For SLAM! Wrestling
On the evening of December 15, 1995 I stood beside Helen Hart in a place
where she had virtually never been: inside the ropes of the
Stampede Wrestling ring. We listened together as more than 5,000
Calgarians rocked the storied Stampede Corral with waves of cheers. And
we watched from just a few feet away as a rich sampling of Stampede's
greater and lesser lights from years past -- Dory and Terry Funk, Leo Burke,
Moose Morowski, Angelo Mosca, Gil Hayes, Tor Kamata, Brian Pillman, John
Helton, Dan Kroffat and more -- streamed into the ring to add their best wishes
to Stu Hart at the huge wrestling event that officially marked his
eightieth birthday on that night.

After getting married in a blizzard New Year's Eve 1947, Stu and 'Tigerbell' had twelve children together, and all of them were involved in the wrestling business at some point, whether selling programs at the shows, refereeing, carrying luggage, or in the case of all four girls -- marrying wrestlers.
