Tazz wins ECW World title
By JOHN F. MOLINARO -- SLAM! Wrestling

Tazz defeated Mike Awesome to win the ECW World Heavyweight title Thursday night in Indianapolis at a TNN TV Taping.

Tazz was on loan from the WWF and is not returning to ECW on a full time basis. The title tilt was a battle between a WWF and WCW star fighting for the ECW World title. Awesome was accompanied at the building by WCW head of security Doug Dillenger, acting as a representative for WCW.

Awesome went to ringside with manager Judge Jeff Jones and was serenaded by chants of "You sold out". After issuing a challenge to anybody in the ECW locker room, Tazz' WWF music blared over the sound system, eliciting a thunderous pop from the rabid crowd.

After a brief exchange in the ring, there was a ref bump which brought Tommy Dreamer down to ringside. He immediately went after Awesome, laying him out with a DDT. Tazz then picked him out and choked him out to win the title.

It is believed Tazz will appear with the title on Raw or Smackdown before dropping it either at a house show or ECW's Hardcore Heaven PPV on May 14 in Milwaukee.

The match will air on tonight's edition of ECW Wrestling on TNN.
