An open letter to Shawn Michaels
By BRET "THE HIT MAN" HART -- For the Calgary Sun

Most of the American wrestling fans are not getting my message. Shawn Michaels is a big part of the reason why. Shawn Michaels keeps twisting my words around. Shawn gets on TV and answers me back for things I never even said.
When he does that, the American wrestlings fans are so into his comebacks that they fail to realize that Shawn is answering to charges that I never even made!
Here's an open letter to Shawn Michaels from The Hitman. (I want all you fans to read it because if Shawn gets on TV again and misleads you by misquoting me and taking everything I say out of context -- I want you all to be able to look back at this letter and see for yourselves the way Shawn's been twisting things around and what a liar Shawn Michaels has become.)
Shawn Michaels, you go on and on about how it's your right to act any way you want to in America. I never said you didn't have the right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression. I agree with you that you have those rights. Shawn Michaels, you've admitted that you're acting like a jerk and a degenerate. You have no argument from me there. I agree with you that you have the right to act like a jerk and a degenerate. I never said otherwise.
Shawn Michaels, you go on and on about how the American wrestling fans can boo or cheer anybody they want to. I never said they didn't have that right. I respect the right of the American wrestling fans to boo or cheer anybody they want.
Shawn Michaels, you said, "America, love it or leave it" and that I shouldn't let the door hit me on my Canadian butt on the way out. I never said that I don't love America.
Shawn Michaels, you got on TV and argued all these points with me as if I was the one who brought them up in the first place and as if I had some disagreement with them.
The only reason I can figure you did that is because you couldn't think of any comebacks to what I was really saying. So here it is, spelled out for you and all the fans to see.
Don't paint me out to be some American basher because I'm not. I am a duel citizen of both Canada and the U.S., and -- by the way -- so is my brother, Owen. My mother is from New York.
I have the same rights to freedom of speech and expression as you do and as the American wrestling fans do. You have the right to act like a jerk. They have the right to cheer for a jerk. I have the right to be bugged that you choose to act like a jerk and they choose to cheer for a jerk!
In my opinion, wouldn't it be better to cheer for a hero than for a jerk? What concerns me is that to the American wrestling fans admitted jerks have become their heros.
Stone Cold Steve Austin told the fans that he thinks they're scum; that he doesn't need their approval or want their cheers. They cheer for Austin anyway. To me, if a guy tells you that you're scum and you respond to that by cheering him on and telling him how great he is, that doesn't seem normal. If I didn't care about America then it wouldn't bug me to see American wrestling fans cheering for anti-heroes.
I'd like to apologize to all my great fans here in Canada for not announcing my surprise on Raw last week. If the American fans hadn't been so rude, I would have announced it right at the beginning of the show! I'll try it again this Monday. If they're still rude then they don't deserve to hear what the surprise is and I won't tell them! If that's the case, I'll write about it here next week!
