United we stand
By BRET "THE HIT MAN" HART -- For the Calgary Sun
Ever since the Hart Foundation & Brian Pillman issued a challenge to any five American wrestlers who have the guts to face us at the In Your House pay-per-view here in Calgary, it's amazing how many guys have suddenly come up with sprained ankles and back injuries!
Some fans in Calgary asked me why The Hart Foundation is so anti-American and I need to clear that up! Anyone who thinks The Hart Foundation's agenda is Canadian vs. American doesn't understand what we're all about!
In fact, Jim The Anvil Neidhart and Brian Pillman are American! Bulldog is obviously British, my brother, Owen and myself are Canadian and American. We united, despite personal differences, because we all agree that it's time to make a stand against all the cheating and bad officiating in the WWF.
The reason it seems to come out as anti-American sometimes is because the seed of the problem is in America. A lot of American wrestlers resort to unnecessarily brutal, cheating tactics just so they can get cheered by the blood and guts American fans.
I don't know who started this blood thirsty mentality first, the wrestlers or the fans, but they feed off of each other. It just keeps escalating and it's got to stop. I'm not saying that all American wrestling fans are gore hungry monsters! But there are enough of them that they're having an influence over the WWF's programming since most WWF matches take place in America.
The problem is that the matches are seen on TV around the world so catering to the depraved segment of the American wrestling audience ruins it for fans everywhere. The Hart Foundation is calling on all the great wrestling fans of Calgary to come out to In Your House pay-per-view at the Saddledome on July 6 and help us make an example of five American wrestlers! Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. If you can't come to the show and team up with the Hart Foundation then you can get a front row seat on pay-per-view!
Unfortunately, printed reports around Calgary that Shawn Michaels will be one of The Hart Foundation's five opponents July 6 are not true. In fact, Shawn has walked out of the WWF again!
By now everybody knows that Boy Toy forfeited the WWF title and went home just to avoid facing the Hitman at Wrestlemania 13. Now he's done it again because he couldn't deal with getting in the ring with me in Calgary.
This time I don't dispute that Michaels really is looking for his smile because I removed it from his face with my fist. If you're wondering why you didn't see that match it's because it happened in the locker room last Monday! I told the WWF the only way I'd give them an interview about the incident is if they'd let me talk on live TV so no one can edit the truth.
Get ready because sometimes the truth hurts and I'm not pulling any punches when I tell the whole story on Raw this Monday!
Since self-centred Shawn has forfeited yet another title, I have no idea what this does to Stone Cold Steve Austin as tag champion. I'll bet Austin will want to defend the tag straps himself! I don't think Monsoon will sanction a one-man tag team. Then again, stranger things have happened. I've advised Davey and Owen to petition Monsoon for an immediate title shot!
