SLAM! Wrestling Canadian Hall of Fame: Bret Hart Memories

Bret Hart
Bret Hart and his family revolutionized the sport and made it wrestling they can be sum up as - "the best family there was the best family there is and the best family there ever will be"
 John Havlin

When Bret and Shawn fought in the 60minute iron-man match. It was a great match and in the end Bret had Shawn beat but the time ran out and the commish said there must be a winner. Bret got screwed but the WWF made some mistakes but that's where he was big
 SeXyMiKe05@aol.com
 My Bret Hart Memories Were
 1. I got a Autographed in person Bret Hart T-Shirt I told him I wanted to be a wrestler and he said and I quote "You'll Do Great If you keep Trying and Thinking you can!" And I never forgot it!
 2. When He first won the WCW Title at the End of the tournament when he Defeated Chris Benoit in the Air Canada Centre I WAS THERE!
 3. I wrote to WWF Magazine and Bret got the letter and he wrote back but he didn't give me his street address or E-mail but Oh Well!
 deborah elchert
I've only ever seen Bret Hart in person once, and it was at the, "CYC, In Wilkes-Barre, PA," he was in an eight man tag match. I didn't really give it much thought, I was always a big fan of Owen. I guess I just dug the underdog more. I never became a fan of Bret until I saw him wrestle in person. I'm a huge fan, and hopefully one day I will reach his excellence in the ring. My greatest memory of Bret Hart was when he and Mr. Perfect, (Curt Hennig), were cutting a promo before a match. They were arguing about whose father would beat the others, and why. I thought it was great. It seemed like some kind of a joke, I've always thought that the two must have been friends backstage because of it. I just loved the fact that two great technicians could take jabs at eachother like that, then wrestle eachother in the ring. Bret, whenever you get back from the concussion, you'll have my support.
 NotoriousKOV@aol.com
My most treasured memory of Bret is this past March when the WCW came over to England and I got to meet the man I have adored for about the last 10 years.
I'm 21 now and first got into wrestling when I was 10. Bret has been my favourite ever since.
I was grateful for the face that I actually got to say my piece to Bret before he retires. I told him how much he means to me and I genuinley think he appreciated that especially since he hadn't been to England since Vince McMahon screwed him which has got to be about 3 years ago.
He was truly missed over here and not just by me.
My words to Bret are thanks for all the great memories over the last 10 years and we really hope you'll be over here again next month. We love ya Bret.
Jo and Claire say hi too.
 Rachel Potter, England
I started watching wrestling when I was about 5. My elder brother were always trying moves out on me. They had their favourites and I had to deciede who was mine. I remember the music and this man in these glasses, I knew then this was my man!!! The best match ever was his last match between Shawn Micheals when he lost you could see the anger in him. Bret will always live on forever as he is THE BEST THERE IS THE BEST THERE WAS AND THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 Weezie1@btinternet.com
My favorite memory of Bret Hart has to be when he won the WWF Title at WM 10. After a grueling match with Owen that left him limping he still had enough heart to be the main event and beat the unstoppable Yokozuna to win the title. And when all the wrestlers came to the ring and hoisted him up on their shoulders, that was one of the greatest wrestling moments in history. Bret Hart is the best wrestler that ever walked the face of the planet and always will be in my eyes.
 GMM382@aol.com
My best memory was when Bret Hart punched out Vince. I liked Bret for many of years but I never got to see him. I went to five WWF shows but he was never there. He was always hurt or something. I went to two WCW shows but he was not there because stupid Goldberg tried to end his carrer at Mayhem. Bret is a really good athlete and cares about his fans. Bret beat all the guys I can think of. At Wrestlemania 13 Bret did beat Stone Cold because Stone Cold did pass out so Ken rang the bell. When Bret got out of the ring I do not know why people booed him. I think Bret should wrestle wherever he thinks he should be because someone that wrestles that great should do what ever he wants. Bret was supposed to win at Survivor Series but he did not. Earl swore on his kids lives Bret would not lose but Earl and Vince planned to make Bret lose. Bret was going to go to WCW but he said he would not lose in his hometown. Bret did not tap out. Bret was supposed to grasp Shawn's leg and put him in it. Shawn knew that he was supposed to lose but when Earl rang the bell Shawn did not know what to do and he got made. Shawn knew Bret was supposed to win. I am Bret Hart's number 1# fan.
  Rudy Grubbs
My favorite memory...hmmm...That's a hard one. All are great memories and he's still making them!
I can say this, Bret is a wounderful wrestler, his dedication and ability for the sport is awesome.
I have been a fan of Bret's for a long time. Not for his looks, moves or anything else you can think of, but for his heart he puts in to every match he has and for what he puts in to the sport for the entertainment itself. Bret has so much dedication to wrestling and so much heart ,it is unreal that others don't. Others just think of money and not for the moral and respect for the sport. It's not just a script to be read and acted but it's a mind scrambler, if you are not all there for a match you will get hurt. Bret has that ability, he goes into a ring and he's ready for anything; because he has the heart and respect for the sport.
I am training to become a wrestler, so Bret all I can tell you are my favorite. Memories of you are all the words you have spoken and all the matches you have and continue to do so, I will take all to heart to learn more from you everytime I see you. That will be my favorite memories of all time and know one can take them away.and hopefully one day I will wrestle on the same team as you . I'm sure I can learn a lot more from "the best there was, the best there is,the best there ever will be."
 Cathy Melton (from South Carolina)
My favorite Bret Hart memories are when Bret reformed the Hart Foundation with Davey Boy Smith, Jim Niedhart, Owen Hart, and Brian Pillman and when Bret finally won the WCW World Heavyweight title at Mayhem in 1999.
 CalgaryHart@aol.com
I remember a match at Copps Coliseum, Hamilton Ontario where Bret Hart was defending his Intercontinental title against the Warlord. What made this match so tough for Bret Hart was that he was very sick from the flu and shouldn't of fought at all but he did. That was always one of the things that impressed me about Bret, that no matter how he felt he still would show up for work. In this match the Warlord was taking it to Bret quite strongly but Bret's stubborn and tough attitude toward a tough challenge had him starting to take the huge Warlord apart with atomic drops, elbows drops from the second rope and head drops to the midsection. Bret would go on to pin him easily, showing he can still perform, and entertain even in the worst conditions.
 Hitman 4 life! Mike
I have to many memories of Bret Hart. But he is the best there is, best there was, best there ever will be...
The one that just comes to mind would have to be when Bret won the WWF title for the fifth time by beating the Undertaker. You are the man Hitman.
  From: #1
All my memories of Bret are locked in my head for keeps. I loved watching him. I lived for weekends here in England all anybody could get out of me was Bret is going to be on tonight. I have missed him so much not being on TV. My weekends have been so unbearable and lonley if the truth were known. Bret I love you!! you always will be the BEST EVER wrestler in the world.
 Audrey
I would never Claim the Honor of being Bret's Biggest fan, but I am a big fan. I remember watching the match with him and Owen where he lost. I have to say it is the best match of all time. he may have lost, but the "Black Hart" and "The Excellecnce of Execution" both put 300% in to the match. I have always dreamed of meeting Bret and hope to one day train in the Dungeon. Bret and Owen will always have my Vote as the Greatest "Old School" Wrestlers of all time. Bret if you read this, I RESPECT YOU! I would be a lucky man to get the honor of meeting a man with as much Honesty and Integrity as Bret.
  Respectfully yours, John Price

My best memory of Bret was at Summerslam '97. The reason why I enjoyed it was because I was waiting for Bret to win regain the belt since Wrestle Mania 12 when he got screwed. At first I thought that Michaels was going to do a job for Bret at Wrestle Mania 13 but that was not to be. Sure enough he won it at 'IYH Final 4' but living in South Africa we don't get coverage of IYH. So the Summerslam '97 event was also the last good wrestling match I ever saw. We don't catch WCW in South Africa too so the last time I saw Bret wrestle was in Montreal. On that night, assuming that Bret would win, I was hoping to get even with the Shawn Michaels fans but it ended up being the worst night of my life. The coverage in South Africa was delayed and was even made to look like Michaels won fair and square. But now I finally know the truth and my advice to Bret is to become a promoter and beat Vince Mcmahon at his own game.
 leonardo316@hotmail.com
Every match Bret had was a match that I loved. I guess my favorite match though, would be the one that he had at Kemper Arena after Owen had died in that very same arena. Eric Bischoff told Bret that he did not have to wrestle in that arena but he felt he would be doing Owen disrespect by NOT wrestling there. So he chose to wrestle Chis Benoit, a friend of his and Owen's.
 Hope Anderson

To pick just a few of hundreds of great moments I have had just sitting, watching Bret Hart is hard but the one which stands out the most to me is that night in Madison Square Garden during Wrestle Mania X. Not his emotional win against the great Yokozuna (and his celebrations with the superstars after the match) but his incredible match with Owen Hart, that's how wrestling should be. I also loved his match with Mr. Perfect at Summer Slam '91, where he won his first WWF singles title also at the garden and finally his match with Piper at Wrestle Mania VIII that too was a classic. There will never be another Bret Hart. Thank you Champ.
 HARISHIS@aol.com
For me the thing I remember most about Bret's career was the summer of 1997. The Hart Foundation and the "war" with the USA. That was the single greatest thing that I have ever watched in wrestling history and I have been watching since 1984. Bret, Owen, Brian, Davey and Jim all made that time special. In an era where you always know whats going to happen ahead of time, they kept it very interesting. I can still see the picture of the whole Hart family standing in the ring together after the PPV in Calgary. And I still see the picture of Owen with his son, what a beautiful moment. Bret you always made it fun and although there was only one time I didn't agree with you in your entire career (punching out Vince) you truly are the BEST THERE IS, THE BEST THERE WAS, AND THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE!!
  Thanks for the memories Bret,
 Your Fan, Don Burnett
The best memory has got to be beating Mr Perfect at Summerslam for the Intercontinental belt and shattering the myth that no one can kick out of the Perfect plex.
No one can ever replace you Bret
 Mike
An Open Letter To Brett Hart:
Bret, I just want to say thanks for everything that you have accomplished in your long and illustrious career.I know that you did not want to end your career the way you did, however what a career you did have.
I remember when your career first started. It was around the time that I moved out to Banff Alberta and went to work at the world famous Banff Springs Hotel(July,7,80).This was my first exposure to Ed Whalen(undoubtably the best broadcaster that Canada has ever had) as the voice of Stampede Wrestling. It was there that I watched you.keith,Bruce,Wayne,Great Gama,Mike Shaw,Duke Meyers,Kerry Brown,British Bulldog,Dynamite Kid,Mr Hito, Jerry Morrow,Goldie Rogers,on CFAC ch 2&7. In April 81,I took the greyhound bus from Banff into Calgary and attended the first of many matches at the old Stampede Pavilion. There were many Friday nights when I came in to Calgary from work in blinding snowstorms just to take my seat in the Pavilion, which from time to time smelled like cow manure. I saw classic matches with you and the Dynamite Kid, you against Duke Meyers and Kerry Brown. I was there when you bailed the Dynamite Kid out the night that Bad News Allen was bloodying him badly in the cage. I continued going to the Pavilion after your Dad folded it up the first time after Archie Goldie's son was piledriven on the concrete floor in the back and Ed Whalen quit the show. I remember that CTV picked it up and it lasted a month. The likes of Sweet Daddy Siki and Leo Burke brought back memories for me. I was in the Stampede Corral the night that Owen made his debut as Chris Benoit's tag team partner and fought Duke Meyers and Kerry Brown. I missed about 4 months of live wrestling at the Pavilion from 81-89. At that time I transferred my services from the Palliser hotel (89,transferred from Banff in 86) to Chateau Laurier (Ottawa)in 89. I followed your first matches when Goldie Rogers, Cuban Assassin joined you in the WWF. I remember seeing you job to all the so called superstars and feeling bad that the WWF was misusing your talents early on in your career. I watched as your career finally took off. I remember seeing you wrestle here in Ottawa whenever you would come, and talking to you at the Chateau whenever you were here. I was in Montreal the night you were screwed. I mourned the loss of your brother Owen, who I consider a friend.
You had a good carreer my friend. As you leave one profession behind and look towards your future endeavours I give thanks for having known you from early in your career to your superstar status. Good Luck Bret, Thanks for the memories.
 Your Friend, Carl
Everyone Bret Hart memory is a good memory. Bret thanks for the ride and thanks for being a true Canadian.
 labperry@home.com

My memories of Bret Hart go back to the days of the Hart Foundation, but the memories I'll think of the most are how he continued to treat pro wrestling as a craft, and with respect.
To me Bret did not see pro wrestling as sports or entertainment--but as a job and a craft--and he treated his craft with RESPECT. Even as people like McMahon and Bischoff put more focus on gimmicks than on action, Bret stood alone.
It's weird, here I am trying to get my career started and he is ending his. I hope that I can bring the same dignity to my craft as Bret brought to his.
All I can think of is a quote I told a friend of mine after Owen was killed--"We lost one of the good guys".
I wish Bret the best of luck in any future endeavors.
 A fan from PA.
Watching Bret wrestle only days after losing the WWF Title to Yokozuna at Wrestlemania 9. He was on the WWF's UK Tour, wrestling at the Brighton Centre against Bam Bam Bigelow. Shaking hands with him after the match was one of those moments that I have never forgotten. It is very sad to see him retire, but his legacy of pre-November 1997 will live on.
 simongroves@prgpub.co.uk
My memory of Bret, well is all of them. A man with true meaning, a man who fought for everything, and a man that better or should come back to wrestling, because he stands tall and puts all his effort in to it. Bret was the most tried wrestler. He tried his best, and man he was the best. Please come back Bret. Meeting Bret was really memorable. I hope you come back Bret, do it for your fans. I love you.
 Karen Sue Wojtas
I think one of the best matches the Hitman ever had was in the 1994 Summerslam. The one hour cage match he had with his brother, that was so brutal. I couldn't even tell you how I was about to cry if Bret lost that match, because of Bret, it seems I have a lot of things to live for. I'm going to miss Bret in the ring, he always had that unique style. He came to the ring with the black leather jacket, with the pink tights or black tights, and those shades. Those shades really stood out, and he always gave it to a fan watching. I've never really seen anyone do that every time someone came to the ring like Bret did when he was in the WWF. I wish he was still in the WWF, and I wish that incident in Montreal never happened, to be honest, since that incident in Nov 1997, I stopped watching wrestling, I just didn't find it very fun to watch for me. I look at all the things he accomplished, all he's done for wrestling, and I can truly say, Bret...you are THE BEST THERE IS, THE BEST THERE WAS, THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  AzNB23@aol.com
Not only do I admire your wrestling abilities, but what I admire the most is the real Bret. You have dignity and integrity and that is why you are my hero.
 Hassan Hassan, Toronto, ON

People can talk and talk and talk about the Montreal incident with Bret's last match against Shawn Micheals for the WWF world heavyweight title, as much as they want and how that's the lasting memory of the legend that is Bret "the Hitman" Hart! But, ya wanna know what! That sickens me because, Bret Hart has done what few in the industry past and present have done! Those are my memories! Bret Hart is my mentor, and one day I shall meet him if the good lord has it in the plans for me because I would like to thank Mr Hart for being the only person who I could look up to in the sport that I love so much! Bret Hart has beaten everyone there is too beat in the wrestling business! No matter what happened to Hart he's never hurt anyone and he's never tried to take cheap shots on the other wrestlers! Bret has gone his whole wrestling career without a gimmick change and without steeping to a low level for ratings, he's been the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, for a long long time and he shall continue, he's been the best without having to strip down to no clothes, he's been the best without having to be a homosexual character, and he's been the best for being there! Bret words can describe how much you will be missed and one day I will be able to tell you these words in person how much you've helped me year in and year out! You truly are THE BEST THERE IS, THE BEST THERE WAS, AND THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE!
  YOUR LONGTIME FAN, DAXCELLENCE@AOL.COM
I will always remember Bret Hart because he is the best wrestler that ever lived. My fondest memory was when he and the British Buldog fought for the Intercontinental title at Summerslam 92. Maybe Bret didn't win but that was the start of a great era in the WWF. Over a month after he lost to the Bulldog, Bret beat one of the best wrestler of all time to win his first world title. But there are so many memories of Bret. The best show he did was the 1 hour Iron man match against Shawn Micheals. That was a match that I will always remember cause that is where we saw Bret use everything he had. And to my opinion Bret has the best finishing in the business. The Sharpshooter is so devastating and as worked to win him so many title. It is sad to say bye to Bret after so many years of good times. But I will always remeber Bret "the Hitman"Hart.
 fortre08@nouvelon.edu.on.ca
My best memories of Bret are when he floored McMahon and when he fought Benoit out of respect for the much loved OWEN. He always will be the best there is was and ever will be. I love you Bret and I miss you.
 Audrey
Bret is quite simply the most talented wrestler ever, I miss you Bret.
 kristian tosney
my best memory of the hitman is when I shook his hand at the Point Depot, Dublin when he beat Bam Bam Bigelow
  byrney@unison.ie
Well, "I'm the best there was, the best there is, the best there ever will be." pretty well sums it up. My memory of Bret is more out of the ring, he is a real down to earth human being. And they are hard to come by. The few articles I read and the few interviews I've seen, Bret never let The Hitman do the talking or let emotions fly to much with all the things that happened. I know, I'm only 25 & been through the deepest parts the earth & back, its a emotional battle. Bret changed my view on wrestling, now I never watch it. I think Bret took his life where I want to succeed & millions of others. Anyway, I Hope Bret you get to read this & Good Luck
 Michael Caseley
I think Bret Hart is the best wrestler there ever will be. I really don't have a memory. He is the only person in the world today besides me that sees that wrestling has gone way to far. It's not fun to watch anymore with all these chairs and half naked women and really stupid storylines. I'm surprised it's not on Playboy TV.
 Sfitz1987@aol.com
Since I live the UK I have found it very difficult to see any events. I still, even today, try and keep up with the latest news involving Bret. I don't do this just to be popular, (as all my friends now watch the WWF) I do this as I respect and look up to Bret Hart whether he is wrestling or not. I have been a huge Bret Hart fan ever since I first saw him in the 3rd annual Survivor Series. Even though he wasn't a very big star at that time, he still stood out to me. His hard work and 'never say die' attitude was very appealing to me and ever since that event, he has been my hero, not only with his wrestling style but with his attitude towards all the things which stand in his way to success. His memories for me include:
 1) His amazing Intercontinental Title match against Roddy Piper at Wrestle Mania VIII where he came out bleeding, but on top. I admired Roddy Piper's attitude in that match as he was going to hit Bret with the ring bell but changed his mind. This gained support not only from me but from hundreds of fans in that arena.
 2) The 1992 Summer Slam match for the Intercontinental Title match that was held at Wembley Stadium, London, UK against 'The British Bulldog' Davey Boy Smith. At the start Bret came out to a small amount of cheers and, even though he lost the match, walked out a hero.
 3) At Survivor Series, 1992, when he played, another great, Shawn Michaels. He came out on top after several top moves by both athletes.
 4) At Wrestle Mania IX against Yokozuna. He was cheated out of the title by Yokozuna with the help of Mr. Fuji and Hulk Hogan came out to help him. Yokozuna then issued a challenge to 'The Hulkster' to face him right there for the title. Hulk Hogan didn't want to fight but wanted to help Bret. Bret then sent Hogan back to fight Yokozuna and I thought this showed extreme courage by Bret, as it was obvious that 'The Hitman' was in pain. Hulk Hogan then went on to complete a controversial victory.
 5) At Royal Rumble, 1994, when Bret was kicked in his injured leg by his brother Owen Hart, after they had just suffered a tag team defeat. He later went on to the Royal Rumble with his leg still injured and managed to stay in past wrestlers such as Shawn Michaels. It all ended controversially with him and Lex Luger going over the ropes at the same time.
 6) After the controversial ending to the Royal Rumble Bret then went on to Wrestle Mania X and defeated Yokozuna. It looked for sure as if Yokozuna had got the win as he was on the second rope and looking for his patented move, 'The Bonsai Drop.' Just as he jumped off Bret managed to get up and Yokozuna crashed onto the mat and Bret Hart managed to pick up a famous win.
 7) At Wrestle Mania XIII when Bret Hart played Steve Austin for the title. As I don't really like Austin, I was ecstatic that Bret got a deserved win. I don't think that Austin has or ever will get his A** kicked like that ever again.
 8) Finally, the night that will stick into any wrestling fans and especially Bret Hart fans' minds. That night at Survivor Series, 1997. When Bret played Shawn Michaels, in Canada for the WWF Championship. Late on Shawn had Bret in the sharpshooter and nobody could hear Bret submit but we could hear Vince McMahon call out, "Ring the bell!" This is when we heard the bell ring and Shawn Michaels music play. Everyone was amazed, including Shawn! We then had realised that Bret had been screwed. Millions of fans over the world were shocked.
He has been such an amazing role model to me and millions of fans around the world. My memories of Bret Hart will not all be based on wrestling. For example, I saw his documentary, 'Wrestling with shadows.' and was amazed that Vince McMahon would screw the company's biggest star. When I heard that he had gone to the WCW I felt that they should have gained a huge star and someone the WCW fans could look up to, just as I had done with him in the WWF. But, as I live in the UK I find it very hard to see WCW and when I finally found out when it was on TV I couldn't wait to see Bret Hart enter and watch the crowd go wild. When he did finally enter I noticed he was with another WWF all time great, Hulk Hogan. I was then amazed to see, in my view the two greatest wrestlers who have ever lived, were being booed and the fans were shouting abuse at them. This is when I realised that the WCW had made the two biggest mistakes in their history by getting these two great superstars (and role models to many fans around the world) to be hated by the crowd. This disgusted me and I feel many wrestling fans around the world can not believe that the owner of the WCW could of done this.
Despite all this I still greatly admire Bret Hart. All of the WWF videos I have involve Bret Hart and I still watch them especially Wrestle Mania VIII and Royal Rumble 1994. I normally fast forward the videos just to see the Bret Hart matches as I still admire his 'never say die' attitude. This phrase, in my view, would sum up 'The Hitman' character. That he did keep on going until he got to where he wanted. This attitude has has helped many people and certainly me and if he keeps going this will help many people for years to come.
From me and all the Bret Hart fans I would like to say keep going as there are many people who still look up to you in UK and in other countries. I'm sure that if you keep trying you will succeed and all your hard work will pay off.
  Good luck!!!

My favorite memory was when Bret won the King of the Ring. His match with Curt Henning is a classic. I have watched that match over and over and still enjoy it every time.None of today's wrestlers can come near to Bret's talent and wrestling ability. I just wish you had to get your match against Hulk Hogan, I would have enjoyed seeing your hand raised in victory after Hogan quit to the sharpshooter. Bret your fans love you and I will miss you from the ring. I hope you know that there can never be another best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be because that place is reserved for you.
A Hitman fan Forever, Darlene Sweers

Bret Hart claims to be the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. How can anyone dispute that? As far as memories go...My best friend was the Biggest Bret mark, I always liked him too, but not to the extent that Jason, my friend did. Bret was his favorite and my memories of Bret that I shared with him until his death in Oct. of '99 include... #1 The news of Owen's death. My best friend was emotional, not because he knew Owen personally, but because he felt a closeness to Bret. Compassion for his hero. Another memory that sticks out is the most entertaining match in WWF history...The IRON MAN MATCH...WM 12...Bret put Shawn over, and no one could put Shawn over more than the Hitman...Kudos to Bret!
Last but not least, The first time I saw the Hitman live...December 15, 1997 (WCW DEBUT) in Charlotte, NC....Bret walked to the ring...If you could see the happiness in my best friends eyes. It was Magic! Thank You Bret Hart!
You are the epitome of the word "Hero"!
  JeremyVain@aol.com
It was just the other day when I read about the Hitman officially retiring from wrestling. I felt sick, no joke. To think that a man of his level would be forced out of the sport he helped build in an era of "new attitude" and new beginning. The Hitman managed to stay on top of his game even in the situations where most people would buckle under the pressure. One thing I remember kinda sticks out like a sore thumb in Hitman's career. How he "attacked" the American wrestling fan. What he should have said is that the casual fan is what was wrong with American wrestling fans, not all of us like the Catch-phrased wonders like Austin or the Rock. True wrestling fans recognize skill when they see it. Not just who cuts the better promo and sells the T-shirts.
Hart, you're gonna definitely be missed. I've followed your career since I was 3 years old. I've been a fan of yours for 13 damn years man, your retirement from Wrestling shocked me, although it wasn't a big surprise, I know you wouldn't go back to WWF due to creative differences, and cuz McMahon's a Dick. And ECW, well, there could be hope for you there. RVD and Corino and Jerry Lynn would compliment your style well.
Bret "The Hitman" Hart, you truly are the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. And You will be missed. The casual fans who are from this new era in sports entertainment don't give a lick. But a true wrestling fan will definitely miss you, I can still remember from when I was younger, while watching on Monday nights to hear the Strains of the guitar strings and your music hit : )
Sincerely, and Sadly say farewell. The true ICON will be missed....
 Andrew
My most special Hitman memory has to be the time he really proved to me that he wouldn't qiut when He fought against Sting in Mayhem of 99, Sting was cheated out, and Hitman demanded that the match would be fought fair and square, after Luger's interferance. That showed me that Hitman wasn't going to take the easy way out at all.He came back after suffering a loss in the family.I really looked up to him, because he encouraged me to work hard, never to take the easy way out by quitting. I watched him for so many years,I've been a devoted fan for so long, and I thank him for the memories, and for being an incredible role model for me, that's coming from the heart. Now I'm 20yrs. old hoping to continue working hard in life, and I understand more about wrestling,it's not the same like the Hitman era.People just slap, and punch and win by interference,I like the technical style that Benoit passes on.

Here in West Australia there is hardly any wrestling, so its not that popular, though I am still a huge fan, especially of Bret. Bret is my hero, a guy that stands up for what he believes & not afraid to speak his mind. I have liked him ever since I can remember. Curt Hennig Vs The Hitman was one of the greastest matches of all time. The Stampede, entire family involved, great seeing them all in the ring afterwards celebrating -- recognition families of wrestlers should get I say. Wrestling with the Shadows -- A great documentary .Makes you look at wrestling in new ways. Shows another side of Bret, which is great, and other wrestlers & what goes on behind the scenes. Then Owen -- A great guy, hero to many, will always be remembered not forgotten. Benoit Vs Hitman -- Matches at Kansas City & Mayhem will always be the best match
In Bret, wrestling has not just lost another wrestler. They have lost a legend that will live on forever .
 Good luck in the future.

My favorite memory of Bret's career was Summer Slam '92 from Wembley Stadium. I was 10 years old and it was the first pay-per-view that I watched. Even though Bret lost that night to the Bulldog, it got me hooked on Bret. The match was so emotional and so well done. I was very impressed with Hart's skills and style. It was my first night as a HitMan fan....something I won't soon forget.

The best memories from wrestling and specially from Bret "Hitman" Hart I have, were from April 1996, when the WWF came to Dresden, Germany for the first time, to their "X-mas tour". There were so many happy people in the arena when Bret went into the ring, to perform an excellent wrestling-match! I'll never forget this evening!
I want to honour the Hart family for their toughness we' ve seen after the absolutely unnecessary death of Owen!
The # 1 Hart-family Fan from Germany (living in Dublin)

Well Bret, you have done more in your career then the average wrestler and you are by far better then the average wrestler. After putting all your hard work into the business year after year, you've earned my respect. You are indeed one of the most gifted wrestlers. My memory of you is 1991, Summerslam when you wrestled Curt Hennig and beat him. That was a hell of a match an may be one day you'll have a boy who will wear your tights and have the gift that you got. Thanks for the memories and I hope you find something out there that is just as good as wrestling.
 Sincerely, your buddy Justin

Bret Hart was one of the reasons I started watching WWF. It was his cool demeanour and loyalty towards WWF was the beautiful part of his whole image. I saw him in real life when he was down in India for a promotional tour. That was about a year before he left WWF. Whatever happened that fateful night was bad, yet unknowingly this still is one of the moments I always remember of Hitman, spitting on Vince's face.
I hope he comes back to WWF for one last stint. It would be really great if he helps improve WWF image of being perverse they have acquired today

When you think of wrestling there's not one true wrestling fan that hasn't heard of Bret Hart. He is truly one of the best if not the best wrestlers in wrestling ever. Hulk Hogan,Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Micheals are just a couple in the list. But Bret was at the top. He's beat every great wrestler there is. Shawn Micheals, Steve Austin, and lots of others. The only problem about his career in the WWF is that he kept getting screwed. Wrestlemania 12. They made Bret come back after the 60 minutes and try to beat Shawn again. He beat Shawn by retaining the title. Screwed there. Then at Wrestlemania 13 he was screwed by Ken Shamrock. He won the match and hit Austin again. In which Austin deserved it. Then Shamrock tried to be the hero and made it look like Bret was bad. Then the final low blow was Vince screwing Bret at Survivor series. But Bret has made it through all those and became the best athlete in wretling today. You will be missed in the wrestling ring but never forgotten Bret.

I think the best memory of Bret Hart is when he faced Owen @ Wrestle Mania X. I also think that Bret was my favorite wrestler since Hogan left the WWF in 93. I don't think Bret wants to admit it, but his days in the WWF, were way more better than the days in the Crappy WCW. Bret knows it true.

My memories of Bret The Hitman Hart, the best there is, the best there was and the ever, and I mean ever WILL BE!!!
MY Name is Dave The Playboy Savage, I am from the UK, yes I am a wrestler, and all my thanks got to Bret Hart and all the Hart Family including Owen Hart.
I have a lot of the best memories of Bret, from Bret beating Diesel (Kevin Nash) where Bret out smarted him to the matches against Roddy Piper. I wrestle with the thought of one day Bret will be either my trainer or even a close friend.
All the thanks go to Bret
 Dave The Playboy Savage
I keep tuned in to WWF broadcasts regularly, but I will never forget the days where a star was made by wrestling abilities instead of microphone ability. I always had a tremendous respect for Bret especially after Hart Foundation split, because that is when I truly got into wrestling. I have many favourite matches, one of the top ones being Bret VS British Bulldog at Wembley. I remember watching the old Prime Time Wrestling programs, and seeing Bret defend his belt successfully every single time. The same thing when he won the WWF belt. The funniest match I watched was Bret and Jerry Lawler at KOTR 1995 in the kiss my foot match. Ironic because I like the King too. Another good match was Bret and the 1-2-3 Kid (X-Pac) on a RAW telecast, and deserved match of the year. I always respected Bret, even after they made him turn heel, but his best matches were many from 1991-1995, along with his match with Benoit at Kemper Arena in his brother's memory. Bret, you may not wrestle anymore, but we will never forget you. God Bless.

My greatest Bret Hart Memory was during Nitro, I watched it on TSN when Bret faced Chris Benoit for the WCW World Heavyweight Belt on November 21st only one day after my 14th birthday. Bret beat Chris what a great birthday present for me that was. About one year latter I saw Bret in person for the 3rd time when the WCW came to Winnipeg Manitoba, I had front row seets and was so likey to give him a huge when he entered the ring. Thanx!!
 A little "Hitman" Gatlin Church

First Time I saw Bret Hart wrestling, was when he teamed up with Jim Neidhart, and then I liked a lot his skills as a technician. He executes his manoeuvers time by time and he resolves a match in the time he wants. My Favorite Memory is when nobody believed that he could defeat Diesel in Survivor Series 97, but like Mr Perfect said by the Time Bret got the pin. ..."he did it, he did it"... Bret can do anything he wants, be a hero, or a heel, he can beat all wrestlers if he wants, and give advice to them, to wrestle against him better next time, as one day, Rowdy Piper Told Him. Bret is without a doubt, the Best Wrestler off all time, along the names off other wrestlers that are considered legends of his times. Bret is you can read this, you will always be "The best There is, The Best There Was, and The Best There Ever Will Be.
 Rodrigo "The Hitman" Cortes
My favorite Bret Hart memory was meeting him and his late brother Owen Hart (RIP. You're sadly missed :'( ) at the Warwick Mall in Warwick, Rhode Island. Bret and Owen are two of the nicest individuals I have ever come across. After hearing about Bret's retirement, I was saddened, but have come to realize that it is all for the best. Bret, if you ever read this, know this one thing. You are an amazing individual with more heart and determination then half of the people in the wrestling business. You gave it 100% every night you stepped foot into an arena. You are adored by literally millions of fans worldwide, and you are one of the most respected men in the wrestling business today. You made wrestling real. Keep your head up, and please, pass your knowledge onto some youngsters just breaking in. Who knows, you just might make them the next Excellence of Execution, although there will never be anyone quite like you.
  the Queen of the Ring...Lindsay
Watching him walk down to the ring looking so cool, with the leather jacket and the circular sunglasses when I was about 8 or 9 on saturday mornings. He just conveyed an air that he was going to crush whoever it was that he was facing, and he really didn't ever seem scared or nervous. He was always just cool, because he knew he was the BEST. I whole heartedly agree.
I met Bret when he was signing soundtracks for his movie at a mall before going to the Philly Nitro in '99. I've met other wrestlers, but Bret was just this totally normal person, I shook hands with him and told him I'd see him at Nitro that night, and he just smiled and said "Thanks for coming out" It was awesome, he was such a great guy in person. It's a total shame what Vince did to him, and then what WCW did to him afterwards.
 Bret, your still the best.
 Craig Lewis, HITMAN fan.
Growing up in a family of pro wrestling fans, there was no one else I would rather see in the ring than Bret. My favorite Bret Hart moment was at Canadian Stampede, when the Hart Foundation united against the malicious Stone Cold Steve Austin's team. As each member of Bret's team was introduced, the crowd's cheers escalated, until finally the Hitman was introduced. The Canadian audience exploded, and I myself felt a chill through my spine as my childhood hero appeared.
I even had the privilege of seeing Bret at the live RAW, the week before that PPV. Bret didn't wrestle that night, but just seeing him in person made the event worthwhile.
Thanks Bret, for all you've done for wrestling. It's comforting to know that there are still people in this world who cherish their integrity.

My favorite Bret "Hitman" Hart Moment was when he finally won the then vacant WCW world heavyweight championship against Chris Benoit in the final of the 64 man tournament. That moment was really a long time coming. I also liked when he wrestled two times in one night (first against Owen, second against Yokozuna) @ Wrestlemania X to win his second of five WWF world championships from Yokozuna on March 20, 1994. I wish that he could wrestle one more time against HBK or even wrestle one more time against anybody. I wish he didn't have to retire. He was the only reason why I watched WCW.
Your#1 fan always, Taylor Bryant Bh4life926@aol.com
My best memories of the Hitman was the night he wrestled The Undertaker in Sheffield,England on September 20 1997. It was 30 minutes of pure wrestling excellence. Thank you Bret for everything you ever did for this sport.
All the way from Hull,England, Ashley Creaser
Bret is truly the greatest entertainer in wrestling history. There might have been guys who put on a show, but Bret had a skill only a few wrestlers had. Bret's best moments were his match against the Bulldog for the Intercontinental Title at Summerslam, his matches at Wrestlemania X (personally my two favorite Bret matches), his Iron Man Match (and the second Iron Man Match with Rock and HHH sucked cuz the only two men who could pull an hour long match like that are Bret and Shawn) at Wrestlemania XII, and his match in the 95 Survivor Series with the unexpected small package victory against Diesel (Kevin Nash). Unfortunately, the Bret moment which will always stick in my mind though is when he was screwed over by that rich, pompous, jack ass of a boss, Vincent K. McMahon. I will always remember the time I met Owen and Bret...LONG LIVE THE GREATEST WRESTLING FAMILY EVER, R.I.P. Owen, hope Bret has a great future, hope Vince McMahon sells the fed!!!! HARTS FOREVER!!!
 Wokhedinn@aol.com
My best memory is when Bret hugged me after one of his matches in Germany back in 1994. It was like heaven for me. I want to thank Bret for being a hero for so many people in the whole world. He's the best wrestler ever. Watching his matches was always great. I'll miss him.
 Greetings, Daniela,Germany
I remember so many things about the Hitman but only one comes to mind....only being 8 when I first saw thje hitman I knew he had talent. I will never forget the 95 Survivor Series. I was standing infront of the TV shouting my little head of, then as my dad walked in he said "it's not real you know" and my heart just sank. Then I looked at the Hitman who was looking at me smiling and I replied "it's real dad....he makes it real" that was the best night I knew it was real.....let's face it his the best there was the best there is and the best there ever will be.... LONG LIVE BRET...

Bret The Hitman Hart was a great technician and was the toughest and smartest wrestler of his time. He proved his toughness when he left the toughest s.o.b Steve Austin lying unconscious and bloody at Wrestlemania. He showed he was smart when he challenged and guaranteed a win against the most unstoppable force in wrestling history, Bill Goldberg, by wearing a metal plate on his chest when he was speared to defeat the odds. And he demonstrated his amazing technical ability against Shawn Michaels in the Iron man match, my personal favorite of all time, though it was a losing effort for Bret.
Countless wonderful memories. Bret is a man of honour and courage someone can even stand up and spit in McMahon's face and walk out on a company that was wrong for turning its back on a true super star that loved his sport and lived it not just as a career but a lifestyle. A true Icon for me, as a wrestler growing up with out a dad to idolize I chose the excellence of execution for the respect of millions. I wanted the same respect and I honoured Bret and the class from which he earned his respect. I laugh every time The Rock puts on his crapy version of the sharpshooter because I've seen how the excellence of execution executed his moves to perfection and how today's naive fans for the most part can't see the lack of skill in superstars, it's sad. But it showes how great Bret was. It just hurts me to see there is no longer a place for him in the wrestling world but he will always be an icon to me. I just would like to see Bret make a difference once again by writing a book or becoming a coach/manager to someone he can make a difference to still lead the wrestling world in the right direction once again.
 JradAnder66@aol.com
My favorite Bret Hart memory was at WrestlemaniaXII when Bret was facing Shawn Michaels in an Iron Man match for the WWF Championship. It was a great 60 some minutes of action with lots of twists and turns and a surprising ending, which in my opinion doesn't happen too often in wrestling anymore.
  Your loyal fan,
  Todd
I'm probably the only person in this column that thinks Bret Hart is not the best ever, ALTHOUGH I do feel he may be. You see, I still think Shawn Michaels is a better all-round pro wrestler, though Bret remains supreme in his area of his true expertise, incredible technical wrestling fine tuned to perfection. My favorite moments are (in no order): defeating Yokozuna (may God rest his soul) at Wresltemania X in the Garden, fighting Owen for the first time in what is arguably the greatest match of Owen's career (may God rest his soul), wrestling against Davey Boy Smith in SummerSlam 1992 in England in one of the most unbelievable works of technical art any of us have ever seen, fighting Chris Benoit in an amAzing tribute match, fighting in the iron man match, winning the WWF title for the first time, becoming the first ever King of the Ring, wrestling with Austin in a match at Survivor Series 1996, a fantastic five star memorable classic, which started the best feud of all time, Hart Foundation vs. Austin, and defeating Austin at Wrestlemania 13 in an incredibly amazing 5-star classic epic submission match which we will never ever ever forget. The scenes in which Austin is bleeding from his head while locked in the best submission hold ever, the sharpshooter, are beyond description. and that concludes my favorite Hart moments, and when Bret spit on and punched out McMahon. Now its done.

The time is 10.40pm on a Friday night, a few years ago at this time I would have been watching Raw Is War but now I don't both to tune in at all.For two main reasons a) the stupid unbelievable storylines that make the WWF seem more like an episode of Sunset Beach than a respectable wrestling business and b) because of the way Vince treated the BEST wrestler to ever grace the ring Bret Hart. I've watched wrestling for the best part of my life (even when in England it wasn't a 'cool' thing to watch) and hate everything that now Vince and the WWF stand for. In my eyes the best thing to have ever come out of wrestling is Bret Hart. Not the persona, the man. Seeing Bret wrestle brought me great happiness and joy, and even reduced me to tears every time he lost. My best memory of Bret was when he beat Yokozuna for the belt and all the wrestlers came to the ring and placed Bret on their shoulders, right where he belongs. I never was fortunate enough to see Bret wrestle other than on T.V and always hoped he would return to the the WWF to end his career and put right all Vinces wrongs ...by hitting him right in the jaw, again!
Don't forget about all your fans in the U.K Bret and come visit us soon because we won't be forgeting the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be!
 Thanks for the memories Hitman

It is great regret that I learn of your retirement from Wrestling. You were, are and ever will be a true gentleman. You were a true role model for a generation of wrestling fans, myself included.
There are not many figures in the world today who can stand out with true dignity and honour when all around you 'sell out' and become something they are not, just to appeal to the masses.
It angers me greatly when I realise how fickle people are. You said yourself 'Every hero becomes a bore at last' but why? It is simply not fair. However I truly believe that over time, when people get bored of the foul-mouth, poor at wrestling hooligans who at the moment dominate the wrestling scene you will be remembered as the last of the real wrestlers. You are a supreme wrestler and a supreme man and I feel confident you will eventually be remembered as such.
I will not dwell on the tragic death of your brother, but I will say this, he was the second to last of the real wrestlers. He like you combined technical genius with amazing physical strength and had a personality and courage to be admired.
You have left a great void in wrestling which can not be filled. Along with your skill and personal charm you and your father have left the greatest move ever for us wrestling fans to savour for eternity, the mighty SHARPSHOOTER. I have noticed wrestlers poorly imitating this move . Is there any way you could stop this? Even if not I wish you well for the future and thank you for your past.
Your loyal fan, Andrew Meaden (Great Britain)
I don't even know where to start. I have sooo many great memories of Bret. I first started liking Bret in October '96, I really wish I watched more of the WWF back then. I used to flip channels back and forth from WCW and WWF on Monday nights, and when I did watch WWF and they'd hit the Bret Hart music and I would get a full body chill of excitement. Even when Bret turned anti-American I supported him because I knew that's really not how he felt. Bret has been my idol ever since then I would always think what would Bret do in this situation. Bret has had a HUGE impact on my life. I must admit I was heart broken when Bret left the WWF, but I was even more heart broken after he left wrestling for good. There are two things I want to do before I die, they are meeting Bret Hart in person and becoming a professional wrestler.
 XIHITMANIX
My best Bret Hart memory was when I got my picture with him at a house show here in my hometown of Fort Wayne, IN. Bret had just defeated the Undertaker and looked very exhausted. My buddy and me asked Bret to pose for a picture and he did very graciously. The only problem was when we got the photo back, I was cut off !! The guy who took it must have been a little nervous or something. It was still something I will never forget. Wrestling isnt the same without guys like The Hit Man. I wish the sport hadnt turned sour. We would then probably still be watching him. Thanks for the great memories in Fort Wayne Bret !
 guernsee9@hotmail.com
I first knew Bret was going to be a singles star when I watched him on Saturday Night's Main Event in late 1989 or early 1990. He wrestled the Macho Man Randy Savage (who was already an established star) and Bret simply dominated the match, it went approx. 30 minutes (remember when matches were that long?) and Bret lost when Savage small packaged him for the pin. But, I could tell right then and there that Bret was the best singles wrestler the WWF had and he became my favorite to watch.
The guy could perform and "sell" moves like nobody I'd ever seen and no matter who he wrestled, it was always a good match.
My greatest memory and favorite match of Bret's would be Wrestlemania 13. There's just something about watching him beat Austin to a bloody unconscience heap that makes me smile everytime :) You will be missed Bret...
Best there is, was or ever will be? Without a shadow of a doubt....
David (Bret Hart fan 4 Life)
I don't have a favorite memory of the Hit Man Hart because there are too many things that have been fulfilled by the greatest wrestler of any time. Ever since I turned on the TV and saw Bret Hart with the title on his shoulder I've been dazzled by such excellence and how amusing his style is. I've stopped watching wrestling because of the Hit Man's disappearance, but if he does return I will carry on. I would like to say that Bret is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be, and that every moment of his wrestling career is my favorite memory.
 Alan
That Bret Hart had to say on The Last Word that the hardest thing was that he was not wrestling anymore....
  Detailr75@aol.com
Bret Hart is one of the most inspirational figures of my life. Bret embodies everything that makes men worthy; he possesses strength, guts and determination, 110% effort & dedication and an ability to overcome all the odds. His never-say-die attitude is something I personally have adopted in the face of pressure and strife while his strength of character is exemplary to all. I credit Bret with helping me forge the person I am today.
I witnessed Bret live on several ocassions and even met him in person at a public autograph session in London, England; the experience was simply unreal. The time that sticks out the most is when he lost bravely to his brother-in-law Davey-boy Smith at Summerslam '92. Numerous other Hitman memories come to mind; locking Shawn in the Sharpshooter at the Survivor Series '92, beating his brother Owen in a cage match at Summerslam '94, defeating Stone Cold Steve Austin at Survivor Series '96.
Bret's ability as a wrestler is genuine and REAL; today's wrestling is not real but artificial, unbelievable extremes of McMahon's lewd and perverse imagination. Of all the wrestlers that exist today only The Rock, I believe, could give Bret a run for his money. I ask what is the difference between the Steiner Recliner and any normal Camel-clutch; the difference between the Pedigree and a piledriver or buldog; or the difference between the Book-end and Rockbottom along side any other fall-away slam. Wrestling in the 21st century doesn't deserve the Hitman!

You are the true excellent of execution, Bret!!
 vincent_paul8@hotmail.com
You know it is kind of hard to remember any of the great Bret Hart memories. even though Vince may have screwed Bret. I think the WCW screwed Bret even more. With all the good memories I just keep remembering all the bad memories from the WCW. It seems that from Bret's first day in WCW the WCW just didn't know what to do with Bret. And all I can remember is Bret being a heel and using chairs and other weapons. Even after he won the WCW championship all I can remember is Bret turning heel again and joining with the NWA 2000. Wrestling just isn't what it used to be for me since Bret has retired. I wish Bret would consider working for Vince McMahon again. As much as some people may hate Vince we have to remember that without Vince we might not have any Bret Hart memories. I wish Bret could be a bigger man and apologize for knocking Vince out. I would really like to see Bret wrestle again and I think a lot of other people would too
 Cdrops69@aol.com
My two memories of the nine years I have supported him lie in several places but two stick out the most. Bret's best match ever was against Shawn Micheals he showed exactly why he was the best there is, was and will ever be. His skills shined through and he will always be remembered for that match not cause he lost to an nemisis but because he out wrestled the so called greatest and most chrasmatic wrestler of all time Shawn Micheals.
The second memory is of Bret's screw job. Was it a brillant angle to end a ledgendary career move? Some still wonder, I know for sure though now more than ever whether Bret was screwed or not that the unanswered question the match he once again out wrestled Micheals in will be a splinter in many peoples mines for along time, we will never know.

One of the greatest tag team bouts I've ever seen is when the Hart Foundation faced the Brain Busters an SS89, the Hart Foundation was and is the greatest tag team ever displaying attitude, power, strength, agility, many people don't give the Hitman credit for being a risk taker but if you look closely, many of his moves are dangerous. The new Hart Foundation itself was the greatest stable ever, better then the 4 Horsemen, 5 of the best sharpshooters in the game ( Bulldog, Rocket, Hitman, Anvil, Loose Cannon)

Hello everyone , one of my favorite memories of Bret is when he defeated Ric Flair for the WWF title. It was a historic moment for myself because from there he became the best singles wrestler of all times and the best WWF champ ever. I miss Bret Hart in the ring everyday but his memories would live forever in my heart and I hope one day to meet him in person and tell him personnaly what a great wrestler and human being he is. thanks for reading and take care!!

 I'm a 36 year-old (form Qc) who followed wresting for almost 32 years ...
My greatest moment in wrestling wasn't about Brtt Hart ... (Was about Haku...Meng ... or King Tonga in that time ... But that's another story....) .
But my point is ... Not the favorite moment ... but the favorite wrestler ... And what he meant ...
Of course I've seen great moments ...
Ultimate Warrior beating Hulk (The Image) Hogan for the world title ... Anybody beatin' the crap out of him was great! ... Macho againts Steamboat ... WOW ... SuperFly and Muraco ... WOW (again) ... Roddy Piper retiring for the first ... no ... Second ... No ... Fifth time ... Ric Flair wrestling Garvin ... Ric Flair wrestling Steamboat ... Ric Flair wrestling Sting ... Ric Flair loosing any championships ... 97 times ! ... Road Warriors...against anybody ... FreeBirds innovating wresting (of today) ... Wrestling anybody ! Andre the Giant (or Jean Ferré in Qc) just walkin by ... Or Abdullah the Butcher running after me, in his wild trance, during a house show ('cause I called him Fat) ... ha ha ha
But, none was better than when I "HEARD" of BRET beatin' down RIC FLAIR to become WWF world champion in Saskatchewan ...
PROUD is the only word I could say ... 'Cause I remember Bret being beaten by nobodies when he started ... And seeing him grow, as one of the best, step by step by step ... That's why, as of today, I can say that you were and still are THE "wrestling" champ of all time.
Now ... You've got to be better on the microphone to be a champion than the actual physicality of it ... Look at the Rock (who puts the Sharp Shooter on others the make people beleive he's actually a good wrestler and then look at Chris Benoit ... 'nuff said!)
I'm still enjoying wrestlin' today, but for the comedy of it ... And few wrestler make me want to "beleive" ... And more of them make me wanna laugh out loud! Gone are the time of wrestling as a sport ... Here are the times of wrestling as a comedy show ... And very few have the legacy that Bret left us with (Benoit and Storm in my mind) ... And I'm truly scrared for them ... For God sake's Drew Carey wrestled in King of the Ring and "what's his name" (Courtney Cox's husband) became the WCW world champ ... What was that ????
Bret, I really missed ya ... Not only as a Champ, but as the way wrestling was when you were King ... And that, my friend, is what you (and the rest of the wrestling fans) should be proud of ...
 Eric
My cousin and I seen you in Toronto at the A.C.C when you won the WCW world title at MAYHEM. Front row and THE BEST THERE IS,THE BEST THERE WAS AND,THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE, won the title. Was there ever any doubt? NO.
Hope to see you again, Dave and Boner, Woodstock,Ont
Well, well, well, what can we say here....
Obviously it's Bret Hart who's got it all... Just look at wrestling these days......oh god!!! It has turned out to be more of a comedy show...It's true! It's true!
It was definitely great being Bret Hart's fan since the age of 13...now I'm 21.
Waiting anxiously for Bret Hart's entry theme...as the music beats...Bret Hart walks in and wow!!!!! I really won't forget those great matches of his...I've been growing up as Bret's fan since childhood... I guess that I must be Bret Hart's craziest Singaporean Female fan here...
I do appreciate him as well as admire all of his talents..
Just wanna wish him all the best in whatever he does...
Seing as the Best there is, Best there was, And the best Damn Wrestler heaven could ever create..I doubt that no one could Ever have his style and charm......God Bless Him!!!
Always a fan of Bret, regardless of who's the hottest now or in future

I remember when I used to burn dinner because I didn't want to miss Bret. For me, wrestling meant Bret. If in our small town, people of all ages used to talk about WWF (of course the likes of Bret, British Bullfdog, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, etc.) would be the talk of the day.
My greatest memory of Bret Hart was when he fought with Davey Boy Smith, it was a memorable one, more like a movie to me with their families were also involved.
I don't know what happened with WWF, but I have since stopped watching wrestling. But BRET will always be my number one wrestler.
  Enicca Tururu, Zimbabwe
Bret Hart was my hero, is my hero, and will always be my hero. I have an endless amount of Bret Hart memories, but the one memory that is my favorite is when after being gone from the WWF for 6 months after WrestleMania 12, the Hitman returns to the WWF and says he will be with the WWF forever! It breaks my heart knowing that after the 1997 Survivor Series that statement couldn't be lived up to, but Bret Hart will always be a hero to millions around the world and will forever be- The Best There Is, The Best There Was, and The Best There Ever Will Be.
One of your #1 fans, Matt Mastiano
My favourite Bret memory was when he pinned Roddy Piper by running off the turnbuckle when he had Bret in the sleeper. I nearly wet my pants when I saw that. I also enjoyed watching him put Jerry Lawler in the sharpshooter for 2 minutes to get back at him for teasing his family. I was 7 at the time, and thought it was real. Bret is the Best there is, was and ever will be, and I'll be a Bret fan Till I die!!
  Mike Query
PS Hey Bret every time I see Vince's picture I spit on it.
My best memory of Bret is when he came to my wrestling tournament and I met him. I got a picture of him with my team and also his autograph. Why it was such a good memory is because I told him that I would sign his arm and he just thought I was weird. I talked to him for about 10 minutes and he told me all about when he had to wrestle "back in the day." He wished me good luck in Nationals and he seemed just like an ordinary guy. He even told me that he didn't like his picture taken because he always looked like a goon, and said I could only have a picture if I stood with him so I'd look like a goon too. He ended up being on of the kindest men I have ever met and a true role-model for young wrestlers like me to look up to.
 Andrea McKeague (Black Diamond "Drillers")
PS- Thanks for coming Bret, my day was crappy, I lost all my matches, but seeing you made the day so much happier! You inspire me to do my best and keep perservering no matter what!!!
My best memory was at WRESTLEMANIA 12 and the iron man match. Even though he lost it was a great match for him. And to Jon-Ross Gabriel , check your words at the door because you forget one thing, VINCE MCMAHON MADE BRET HART. Withought Vince McMahon Bret would just be some CANADIAN!!!

Best there is, best there was, best there ever will be!!! The greatest technical wrestler in a histary of world of wrestling. The man is the excellence of execution.
Bret Hitman Hart even has his fans in Asia: Turkmenistan, Ashgabat. Because of having no chance of watching Bret wrestle in my country, I began to watch wrestling in 1998 for the first time with WCW.
When I saw Bret and he walked in my life, my heart. He is living there today.
I've lost Bret's career and now I'm hunting for his classic matches.
 Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, -hitman_aol-com@rambler.ru
Bret my name is Michael Finney and I was your big fan in the WWF are you coming back to the WWF because we all miss and show the boss.
 dmma@supanet.com
My favourite Bret moments consisted of the stories he told while in a match, Survivour series vs Diesel as he carried the big goof to a thrilling match, the duel at the Pond in Anaheim with HBK. Piper at Wrestlemania 8, Austin at Survivor Series 96 and Wrestlemania 13. Owen at Ten. Whenever he was in the ring a great match was guaranteed, the only reminances of his work ethic still around is displayed in Benoit and Storm. Sad to see you go, but you won't be forgotten.
 Your fan Jeremy
My greatest memory of Bret Hart was I would say was when he broke out of the cross faced chicken wing and put it on Bob Backlund, that was bada$$. Another great memory that I have is when Bret was screwed by Vince up in Canada, and Bret Hart spit on him, and later on that night broke some monitors and punched Vince, "Vince ran into my fist" that's how he puts it.
 marioishere@yahoo.com
Bret Hart is simply the greatest wrestler of all time! My favorite match is without a doubt his SummerSlam 1992 match against the British Bulldog. The crowd was red hot, Bret was awesome as always. I really loved it!!
Thanks you for all the memories Bret.
  Guillaume Hendryck, France
My favorite memory of Bret, was the footage I saw of him walking out of the room where he punched Vince McMahon's lights out, and said very cool like, "He had an accident" Bret you are the best pal, I hope you come back one way or another.
 Francisco Cidade, Fall River, MA
P.S. Thanks for spitting on me in Providence R.I., after I gave you some crap...it was all in fun !!!!
Bret Hart seemed to help out all of the WWF's biggest superstars of today. He gave guidance and training to The Rock, then known as Rocky Maivia, when he first came to the organization. The Rock said that Bret was the only one who cared about him at the time. Stone Cold Steve Austin, as everybody knows, had no career in the WWF until Bret Hart feuded with him. The WM 13 match made him what he is now and Bret turned him into a fan favorite. The Undertaker, at SS 1990, was an unknown and the first WWF superstar to ever step in the ring with him was Bret Hart. Jerry Lawler's only feud in the WWF was with the Hitman. Shawn Michaels would have no career if it had not been for Bret "passing the torch" to him. Triple H had some battles with the Hitman that led to the promotion of D-X. Ken Shamrock and Mark Henry were helped out by Bret and Shamrock even said Bret was someone he looked up to. Most of the popular matches in WM history were one's Bret Hart was a part of. Bret at WM 4 battle Royal. WM 8 - Bret vs. Piper. WM 10 - Bret vs. Owen. WM 12 - Bret vs. Shawn. Wm 13 - Bret vs. Austin.
He really is the best of all-time!
 Cshepard80@aol.com
My best ever memory of Bret is when I went to Calgary and met members of the Hart family and the best thing I ever did in my life was to follow my dream and follow my heart and I met the Best Man, it was a day I'll never forget. I love Bret and I miss him not being around in the ring anymore. I believe he is a true legend and a awesome wrestler, where ever Bret goes he'll always have my blessing. Love ya always
 Rita from Syd Australia
Bret Hart changed my life for the better. When I first saw him on TV I knew without a doubt he would make an imminent impact on my life. Since 1996 I have watched him in amazement and no matter how the chips fell he was ever a hero with morals and heart. I remember my friend and I playing around wrestling out in his front yard and we would argue over who would be Bret and who would be Owen. Always whomever became the Hit Man was the one with their head held highest. I only wish he could have seen how much we worshipped him, lol. I still remember defying my Dad at every turn to watch Bret on TV. He just couldn't understand that Bret was not fake he is real. HE IS A HERO! I even used to tape record his interviews so I could listen to him again and memorize certain phrases he had said. I still use some of them when I need to get up my gumption to do things. He made me believe in me just by watching his dedication to his fans. There are many matches I could name for favorites but I will say my favorite match was Summerslam `94 when he and Owen faced off. The two of them were amazing to me and still are. Bottom line the Hit Man will ALWAYS be the hero of my heart. Whatever you do Bret don't change! Thanks Bret! You truly are the best!
 Love Always- Desiree
I'm a Wrestling fan from Germany and have always been a Hitman fan! What he has done for Wrestling is more than anyone else has done!
My favorite memory is when Bret pinned Roddy Piper to become World Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion for the second time at WrestleMania 8! He was trying to fight out of a sleeperhold and used the turnbuckle to jump over Piper and pin him on the mat! 1...2...3: WINNER BRET HART! He bled from his forehead and Piper reached him the Title and both celebrated!
 Michael Niemer, Germany!
The best memory I think is watching Bret Hart walk in to WCW and winning the United States Championship. It showed me how much he loved wrestling that even knowing that WWF was on top in ratings he went to WCW not thinking of ratings or fame but he just loved the sport. Can you find a wrestler that loves the sport as much as he does? He is the best technical wrestler ever. To watch him wrestle was great. He gave us our money's worth every time he stepped in that ring. Bret you are the greatest! I know I miss you, I wish you didn't retire.
 angel maldonado
I've been a Bret Hart fan ever since the day I started watching wrestling in 1990. In 1993, the WWF did a European tour and held an event in Brussels. Bret wrestled Bam Bam Bigelow and won after a good, hard-fought match. After the match, Bret walked around the ring, shaking hands with some fans. I was sitting in third row and by the time I made it to the front, he had already passed me by. I shouted Bret, Bret! and the Hitman turned around, walked back towards me and extended his hand (I shook it of course, what did you think!). To me, that showed Bret's genuine care for his fans.
I will never forget that moment and I'll always be a Hitman fan!!! Thanks for all the great moments, Bret and all the best!
 Gerry
My favorite memory would be October 15, 1999. That was the day that I met him. I had dreamed of that day my whole life. It was the greatest day of my life. For so many years I had watched Bret fight. He inspired me to fight for my dreams, and most important to live. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be alive today. I can never thank Bret enough for what he did for me. He is the only true hero left today. Bret I owe you my life. Once again thank-you for everything.
 Erin C.
My favourite memories of Bret go back to the battles he had with the Dynamite Kid in Calgary. They had a war of a match, I think it was 2 out of 3 falls. During the match they executed a vertical suplex from the ring apron with one of them landing on the rail that went around the ring area. I forget who was on the receiving end doubled over the rail but it was the most memorable and impressive move I had ever seen. I remember saying to myself that they say wrestling is fake but that looked too dammed real to be phony. They really knew how to sell a match in Stu's Stampede Wrestling.
  DebnLee@aol.com
My, Favorite Bret "Hitman" Hart memory would have to be everyone time I can remember him stepping into the ring or coming out and doing a promo. Bret is the best and he showed that to all of his fans in the WWF and WCW. Some of Bret's fans turned on Him when he went heel in the WWF but I still cheered him on even being from the United States when he trashed the US. Bret I knew that Vince made you say that stuff. Bret you are the best and I would like to see you come back to the WWF Because that is truly where you where the best. But you are the Best there is, the best There was, and the best that there ever will be where ever you are, Bret I wish you happiness. Your No.1 Fan Without a Shadow Of A Doupt
 HitmanX316@Aol.com
So many...I think it's the super-suplex from the top of the cage with Owen Hart. That was a great moment. Yeah....that was a great moment.
  AndrewS@protocall.com
My best memory is Bret's match against Mr Perfect, Summerslam 91.
  Jesper Pettersson, Sweden
I remember the match of Bret Hart take on Mr. Perfect. Because the Hitman was winning his first singles title in the WWF. It«s my favourite match with the Hitman, because the match was on the 26th of August on my 5th birthday. And it was a big suprise if I heard that the Hitman is the one and only IC Champ.
Don«t forget Hitman: The Excellence of Exicoution is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.
P.S: If I had seen the Hitman, I wanted to be like the Hitman. I am the second Bret Hitman Hart
  Thomas "Hitman" Hüttinger
Thanks for all the memories Bret. I remember sitting and watching The Hart Foundation with my Father who has since passed away, and it was with him I got into wrestling and now have passed it on to my nephew. Thanks Bret, you will be missed in that ring.
 Marilyn
Everyone knows Bret is the greatest wrestler of all time. My greatest memory of Bret was the match against Chris Benoit. I felt they could have gone longer. I was glad to see the return of the Hart Foundation. Like every other wrestler, Bret has been screwed harder than anyone in the business. When he made a public appearance in New York I traveled from school to go see him, although I missed him. I never got to see him in person but I hope I see him one day. All of the greatest technical wrestlers came out of the Dungeon of Stu Hart. Although Bret does not wrestle no more he will all ways be my favorite of all time.
 Nightryda00@aol.com
Remembering the times Bret and Owen came to England to thrill their fans. it was/is such an honour to have met both of them. Two very lovely guys both so very sadly missed . Both left their many UK fans with many fond memories.
 lorna.potter@ntlworld.com
The most impressive moment Bret left for me is perhaps in the King of The Ring 1993, where he beat the Razor Ramon, Mr Prefect and Bam Bam Bigalow. I couldn't believe how he actually did it. His moves are near to perfect, leaving a big impression on a mind of an 11 year old girl. After all the happenings in USA and Canada, I started to feel bad for the champion in my mind. No matter what happens, I won't never forget the joys and happiness that he left for me. Good luck to whatever you do in future.
 cynang@pacific.net.sg
My Bret Hart memory is when Bret won the WWF title for the 1st time and also when Bret and Chris Benoit had a good match in the honour of Owen Hart. There are so much memories to talk about. I miss Bret in the ring . I've got about 17 tapes of Bret in his career to look at. I wish he could come back as a commentator or a manager.
Frankie The Hitman Delarosa.... Bret's really #1 fan
My favorite match was when, he had this awesome street fight with Bad News Allen at the Pavillion here in Calgary. He was nobody big then but he sure was a crowd favorite. Bret, you rule.
A long time fan supporter, DJ
My favorite memory was on 9-12-98 at WCW Fall Brawl in Winston-Salem NC. When Bret came out and helped Hulk Hogan fight off thugs as the likes of Sting, Lex Luger, Diamond Dallas Page, and last but not least, Sid Vicious. Although Hogan lost the match, that was the first time I ever got to see Bret in person.
 wvfeather1@webtv.net (Shaun)
At Wrestlemania 12 when Bret lost to Shawn Michaele in that 1 hour Ironman Match.
 bob blair
My favorite Hitman memory was when he and Chris Benoit had a tribute match for Owen in the building he was killed in. Many people may not remember it but I sure do.
 BuddyL85@hotmail.com
Where to begin when it comes to my memories of a true hero? Could it be at Survivor Series '94 when he lasted for God-knows-how long in the Crossface Chickenwing of Mr Backlund without submitting? All those times of kicking out of an opponent's finisher? Beating HBK to his feet after the first superkick at WMXII? Coming from 3-on-1 down to almost beat the Million $ Team at Survivor Series '90? Shaking the Bulldog's hand in defeat on Monday night the 29th of August 1992? I know it was just the way the WWF portrayed the character, but I always loved Hitman's resolve and stamina. He never kept trying and he never gave up.
Personally though, it had to be when WcW came to a Birmingham (UK) house show in March 2000. When I found out Bret was coming (though not to wrestle) I had to make a sign. Tho suitable large, it simply read "Bret = Hero" and I held it aloft when he emerged to a stunning ovation. He looked at my portion of the crowd and said "thank you" before he cut a heartfelt speech about Owen, his fans and his future. I'm sure he couldn't see my sign, and has seen countless others in his career, but we live in hope that on that night, seeing my sign might have made it all seem worth it to him. Only my parents have inspired me more in life. Thank you for the memories Hitman.

Bret Hart beating the crap out of Will Sasso from MadTV Jan 1999. Thank you for teaching that Will Sasso a hard lesson. He may have lost weight, but that doesn't give him the right to embarrass you on national TV MADTV Episode #415
 wclark05@tampabay.rr.com
My greatest memory of Bret Hart is when he defeated Owen Hart inside a Steel Cage at Summer Slam 1994. I remember Bret suplexing Owen from the top into the ring, and when he jumped off the cage to the floor when Owen got trapped in the cage the arena exploded. That was a brilliant match.
 Eley
Bret Hart has always been in inspiration to me since I could remember at the year of 3 or 4 when he was on Saturdays on Fox. He will always be better then any wrestler there is because,he can beat any there is because, he is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever.......... eeeeeever will be. And that is true. This is one fan that will stay true to the end of time. I hope there are others that are loyal as me.
 Felix Velasquez

The best thing to me of Bret Hart is when he went 60 minutes at Wrestlemania XII with Shwan Michaels. No pinfalls in 60 minutes. You know only a real pro like Bret Hart can go 60 minutes or longer in the ring because he is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. Bret I'm glad you signed a contract with the WWF/WCW and that your going to wrestle. All of us welcome you back to wrestling.
The the number 1 number 1 Bret Hart fan: Jeff
My favourite Bret Hart memory is when he used that innovative pin to beat Steve Austin at the 1996 Survivor Series. By using that move it made him look like an even better wrestler and it made it look like he outsmarted Austin.
 Rav Singh
Bret Hart is more than just a WWF superstar, he is a WWF legend. My favourite matches of his are when he fought a great battle in the Iron man Match at Wrestlemania 12 against Shawn Micheals, and also when he fought Stone Cold in both the submission match at Wrestlemania 13, and the street fight at Takers Revenge. Bret beat Austin once, and Austin beat Bret once. Although I find the submission match a great match for both fighters as it made Stone Cold look like a damn WARRIOR, and Bret Hart look like he is a true geat.
 n.collins3
When the WWF came to my hometown of Tulsa, OK, for a Raw Is War taping, I felt as if I was the only fan for "The Hitman" in the arena. The Hart Foundation along with the wrestling world had just lost Brian Pillman, and Bret had made the comment's about how fickle the American fans were. I have been a constant fan of Bret's for 18 years, therefore I naturally had my Hitman shirt on. I was called names and spit on by other fan's of the WWF, but at the end of the night my loyalty was rewarded not only did Bret retain the Heavyweight belt against the Undertaker, [superbly too I might add] but I stuck around afterwards hoping to get a glimpse of my hero. Bret you made all the names I was called and everything else I had to endure that night so worthwhile by blowing me a kiss. Thank you for my fondest memory.
 A Loyal Hitman Fan/Michele

There are to many great memoeries of the Hitman for me. I guess my best memory of Bret in the Hart Foundation was at WrestleMania 6 when the Hitman and The Anvil won the match over the Bolsheviks and when it was SummerSlam 1990 the Harts beat the Demolition team. The best memory of the Hitman I have is when it was WrestleMania 8 when he beat Rowdy Roddy Piper, The House Show on October 12 1992 when he beat Ric Flair for his 1st WWF title of 5 and at WrestleMania 10 when he beat Yokozuna for his 2nd title of his 5. But the most Dramatic thing was at Survivor Series 1997 when Vince Mcmahon Jr. screwed Bret Hart out of the world title I mean when I saw that I was saying to myself what the Hell happened??? I sometimes get really emotional about that and that was one of the most dramatic WWF stories ever. But now that Shane McMahon owns WCW which is now being refered as the new WCW he could give Bret Hart a contract and some people say that Bret got a contract in WCW from Shane. The two men can come back at Vince and that would be the ultimate storyline in Wrestling history
Ankur Kumar, 10 year old and a big Bret Hart fan

I don't even know where to start! so many favorite memories of Bret Hart. I have many many favorite memories. In my opinion the best matches I've seen Bret in were the good fair matches. There was a good match between Rowdy Piper at Wrestlemania 8 for the IC title. The match at SummerSlam '92 between the British Bulldog was a great one, even the match against Owen at Wrestlemania 10 was a great match even though that was a loss, but at least Owen won fairly. Furthermore, there are classical combats between Bret and Mr. Perfect, Bret and Razor, Diesel, the first ever King of the Ring... I could go on and on for at least 3 more hours on my favorite Bret memories but I won't. Bret Hart is simply the best wrestler to ever step foot in a wrestling ring. He's beaten ever big name in the world of wrestling: Diesel, HBK, Steve Austin, Goldberg, Sting, the Rock, DDP....etc. etc. about 10 times over. No disrespecting the new talent nowadays, but Bret Hart is the best there ever will be no question about it. Bret isn't only a great wrestler I also hear that he's a great family man just another thing I admire so much about him. One other thing I admire so much is the fact that he was a great role model, a real hero he always worked hard to get to the top and to stay ontop. Believe it or not but he actually kept me motivated during school when at times things seemed hopeless and hard, strange? probably, but I really really looked up to Bret I still do actually I admire him no matter what. After a long day of school, a long day of frustrations and anger there was nothing else that would turn my mood around as when I heard Bret Harts theme music go off at the arena. Finally, after years and years of Bret Harts loyalty to everyone here comes DX and Stonecold which I think took the spotlight away from Bret, and why? I don't know, Stonecold I don't have much of a problem with except for maybe the fact that he took Brets spotlight with simply foul mouthing and lovely hand gestures (this is a role model?) And then theres the Heartbreak Kid. I never liked Shawn to begin with. I always thought that Shawn was the most annoying, conceited, overrated little snot I had ever seen. Out of all the heels that went throught the wwf none of them ever upset me more then Shawn Michaels. So then he starts this DX which was pretty lame if you ask me it was just a bunch of stupid sick jokes that only sick people laughed at. at Wrestlemania 12 I officially announced that I hated Shawn Michaels. I was so upset from the out come of the match. The match was for 1 hour, not 1 hour and 10 minutes. When the time limit expires I thought the match was over guess not Shawn had to have his way. Then finally at the Survivor Series at Montreal after I stopped crying, and beat the tar out of him in the wwf raw game for the super nintendo, I swore that I would watch wwf anymore. I'm not sure if Shawn was in on Vince's scam, but as of right now 6.19.01 Shawn and Vince can both go to hell. Bret now is suffering a concussion... why can't things be the way they were when I was a kid. Vince you just lost the best thing that has ever happened to the wwf, and you also lost one viewer after that stunt. Bret Hart will always be the man. I MISS YOU BRET HART. the wwf isn't the same without ya.
R.I.P. OWEN HART (the king of harts) MISS YOU LOTS.
 Bryan a.k.a. Balky
Where do I begin? Bret Hart has been my role model for the last 10 years. I think of all my Hitman memories, my true favorite was when he defeated Diesel for the WWF title. I remember that I didn't order the pay-per-view, but I was able to hear the whole thing clearly, but the picture was blacked out. For that whole match my dad and I were standing up and when we heard that Bret got the 1-2-3, I remembered screaming so loud my face turned so red. I also remembered how upset I was when he lost the title to HBK at WM12, I got up and punched the TV and broke it. I also liked his Summerslam match with Lawler. I am truly Bret Hart's number 1 fan. I would give my front tooth to see Bret make a comeback.
 George

I seem to be one of the few whose favorite Bret Hart memories have nothing to do with him being in the ring, although I think he's one of the greatest athletes and performers who ever put on a pair of tights, and I have enjoyed seeing him wrestle more than I can ever put into words in my 33 years, but "Wrestling With Shadows" and A&E Channel's Biography of Owen Hart are the images of Bret Hart I will never forget, and I loved his book "The Best There Is, The Best There Was, The Best There Ever Will Be". Bret is an amazing man with so many sides you don't see in the ring, a man who loves his family, a man with morals, a man who isn't perfect, a man with feelings, a hard worker, a perfectionist, a clown, a big kid, a serious adult...basically human just like the rest of us. He's inspiring in he reveals what a lot of hard work, commitment, patience, and determination can result in. I've heard him say that people don't have heroes anymore. Bret...I hope some day I can say this to you in person, but just in case that never happens, you are a real hero.
 Kerry
I have a few good memories about The best Wrestler that ever lived! The one match that really sticks out in my mind was a match that I had the privilege of seeing live...I quit match at Wrestlemania 13. Bret put forth a tremendous performance here. People want to talk about that being Stone Cold's match, well people forget Bret won that match. The other great memory I have was several years ago I went to a house show at Nassau Coliseum in NY. Bret fought David Sammartino. David was getting the best of Bret and Bret decided he had enough and walked out, only to have David challenge him to come back. Bret came back and I think won the match. Thanks for the memories Bret, there will never be anyone like you!
 MEMNYY18@aol.com

There are a lot of Hitman memories, some of which are:
 1. Match against "Stone Cold" Steve Austing (Survivor Series '96 and Wrestlemania 13)
 2. Match against "Big Daddy Cool" Diesel (Royal Rumble '95 and Survivor Series '95)
 3. Cage match against Owen Hart (Summerslam '96)
 4. Match against Patriot (Ground Zero)
 5. Razor Ramon, Mr. Perfect and Bam Bam Bigelow in one night (King of the Ring '93)
Just a question, how many #1 Hitman fans are there? Oh well.
  sys_x_solutions@hotmail.com
My favorite Bret Hart memory is how he never backed down & always kept his head held high. Bret, you have no clue on how bad your fans miss you & not being able to see you wrestle another match. You are the VERY BEST at what you do. You raign supreme over every other superstar who has ever laced up a pair of wrestling boots.
I consider your best matches to be you VS. Mr.Perfect @ SummerSlam 91", you VS. Steve Austin @ WM 13, you VS. your brother Owen @ WM X, you VS. Goldberg @ Starrcade 99" (except for the crappy ending), &, of course, you VS. Chris Benoit on Monday Nitro (for Owen). Guys that I wish you wrestled on PPV would probably be Ricky Steamboat, Scott Steiner, The Big Show, & a clean wrestling match w/ Sting.
 We'll miss you Bret (alot)
Tom Mowry, a hitman fan through and through
Dear Bret, I sincerely hope you get ahold of this letter at some time.
I've been an admirer, supporter and big fan of yours for around the past 10 years. In case your wondering, my name is Usamah and i'm from Pakistan. I'm a 23 year old guy, have an MBA, MCS and MA economics degree and am working as a research executive in a multinational. so i guess you can consider me to be an intelligent person.
Somehow, i've always linked my emotions with what happens in your life. i never really wrote to you before because i still think some fan club person will discard this with all the rest of the e mails. the reason i'm writing now because i feel that maybe in some small way by reading this letter you might get some of the immense amount of support you deserve and still need. What most people dont understand is that inspite of all the abuse, bad language, merciless beatings, blood and violence portrayed in the wrestling business, the hitman has still maintained his basic personality which is a considerate, fair and very sensitive person. it is a fact that stars are very sensitive people. My father always says that they are chosen people. i agree with him because they work for you day and night nearly all their lives and all they need in return is repect and appreciation. i still remember when you came back to thde WWF you said something like I'm not hungry for money, I'm just hungry for respect. In the footage from India when you went to a school. the expresion on your face - you were so happy because you were getting the repect you need. And you know what, if you still go and meet the same children they''ll welcome you in the same way. i can remember countless times when i've argued and defended you and wrestling against people who dont really know what art is and you dont even know me. so i guess what im saying is no matter how alone you feel and if ever even 20 years down the road you think you may have lost your last fan, think again because there will be always be people who''ll be saying "if bret was here this wouldnt be happening" or "I wish bret could be here and straighten things out". you will never ever lose your tue fans, bret. if they wanted to leave, they would have left by now.
Then theres another thing. Youve mentioned on more than one occasion that people have blaimed you of taking wrestling too seriously.i still remember one of those people. it was shawn micheals who alongwith that, said " you think all of this is real, you think all of this is yours". So what difference does that make? I take wrestling very seriously. hell i wasnt able to perform well on my MBA entrance exam because i was disturbed with the way Stone Cold was treating you. So what if it isnt real, are TV or the movies real. Can Tom Cruise or any of the big Hollywood stars do what wrestling stars do. NO.
Bret, your a very special person. Your the only Hitman in the wrestling business and you know what, some people may think of you as a fallen hero, but i believe that your the only wrestler who not only fought for truth and justice on the screen but was somehow able to do that in reality as well. It's too bad if some people are too short sighted to recognize and appreciate the good guy in a real battle when it happens. you can rest assure that all your efforts have not gone to waste, all the falls you've taken, all the victories, all the championship belts, all the sharp shooters, all the times you gave those kids your dark glasses, have always given inspiration, hope and immense happiness to people all over the world. thats not something every other person can do.
So, Bret Hart, keep the spirit alive, your a fighter who never gives up because we the fans know the true spirit of the best champion ever - The Hitman.

Hello there my name is Doug Slone and Bret Hart has been the best wrestler of all time. I wish he would come back to wrestling. Well one of the best memory of Bret Hart is when he was in a Royal Rumble in P.C.W. Then when he fought Dirty Dogg Doug for the World Championship. That match went on for 45 mins. They both was a bloody mess when the match was over. Well I wish Bret would get ahold of that company and wrestle again.

My son and I met you in Yonkers, NY and in Mount Vernon, NY on April 28, 2001. My son, Mikey, is 9 years old and has been your biggest fan (not including your own children I am sure) since the first time he watched wrestling.
You are a gentleman in every sense of the word. You took pictures with us, spoke to him about hockey (he was too tongue tied to respond-he forgot to tell you he met Adam Graves, Mike York, etc) you made his day, and many days after that.
When he was seven he was in a boxing match (16oz. gloves, very safe) that promoted sportsmanship, safety, etc. He won his match. Boxers, past and present were there. The newswoman of a local affiliate here in NY interviewed him. When she asked him if he thought he could beat some of the pro's in attendance he said yes. She laughed and was amazed at his confidence. She said "Mikey, how do you know you could beat Mark Breland?" and without a bat of an eyelash he stretched his arms out and said "Because I'm the best there is, the best there was, and the best there will ever be!" He was on local cable every half hour for 24 hours.
You made a great impression on him watching you on TV, but nothing compared to the impression you made on him April 28, 2001. Thanks for making my little boys' dream come true.
 Fondly, Eileen, EWalsh1026.aol.com
Bret, your are one of my favorite wrestlers ever. My favorite memory was when Yokozuna fell off the second rope at WMX and you pinned to become the WWF Champion. When Vince McMahon screwed you out of the WWF title, I couldn't believe it. Now he is creating storyline rivalries with The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, & The Rock. It probably won't be long before he robs them like he robbed you. But Bret, from a very dedicated Hitman fan, I wish you the best of luck in the future. Just remember Bret, Hitman Rocks & VInce McMahon SUX!

My fondest memory of the Hitman is the original (and best) Iron Man Match he had at WrestleMania XII with Shawn Micheals. Nothing can ever, or will ever compete with that match, it was just too good to be beaten. I'm a fan of the old school wrestling, much like the Hitman himself, I prefer the wrestling part rather than the entertainment/shock value. I'm not gonna say anything about what happened tween Bret and the WWF but I would seriously love to see Bret step into the ring, be it an Indie show or a WWF/WCW televised match between people like Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit(to see if Bret can 3 peat on Benoit). But if he never gets into the squared circle I want to say, thank you Bret, thank you for all the years you have given us, all the memories, all the ideals to strike for and thank you for giving us a glimspe of, the Best.

When Bret Hart memory was when he beat Bob Backland then Bob said I SAW THE LIGHT!!!
Your most favorite fan, Bruce GAUKER
watching the summerslam match of Bret Hart vs the British Bulldog in my natine London- what a match! It was all based on skill, had amazing chemistry and a truly satisfying end. Bret Hart deserves respect for his strong morals and outstanding talent. Cheers. msmith425@gm.dreamcast.com

Bret the Hit Man Hart is a true legend. Maybe Hulkamania was first but Bret is a true role model. Why Vince scwred him I don't know -- that's a McMahon for ya. My best memories of Bret is King Of The Ring 1995 when he made Jerry Lawler kiss his own feet and Wrestlemania 11 when he destroyed Bob Backlund. Its a shame bout his brother Owen. Hopefully we'll see Bret back in action soon.

I have been a loyal wrestling fan for a very long time. Admittedly, my first favorite years ago was Jake "The Snake" Roberts. But then Jake disappeared and this guy comes around from the Hart foundation, Bret!! Because of him there were never any disagreements on what was to be watched on the televison......Wrestling!! I can remember them showing wrestling at midnight or so early on, but I stayed up and watched it. It was on the weekends so it didn't matter how late I stayed up.
I never thought wrestling was fake. It takes talent to put on a show like that, people really do get hurt. I can't say that there were any GREAT moments, but there were so many different ones. The thing that sticks out most in my mind??? The person that Bret was and is. He stands up for what he believes in, he is a humble caring person (when you meet him and feel who he is), he's so very strong mentally, and has real family values. His family comes first. We all look at "the man" but so many of us wear blinders to the fact that he has a wife and children. I admire them most of all because they are the ones who must share their husband/father with all of us. The constant being on the road, telephone calls back and forth, most times Mom being the one to raise the kids ........... but when all is said and done he goes home to his family he gives them all he's got. How many people in the spotlight do you hear of giving 150% to their work, 150% to their families, and 150% to their fans. Not many.
When Bret is wrestling he's giving it all.
When Owen died it hit Bret and the family very hard. Yet when it came time to wrestle in the very house that his brother died in he did, that match with Benoit was one of the best technical wrestling matches I have seen in years. Because they were friends, because the Hart family trained Benoit, and they both knew the moves it was a great event to watch. I hurt inside for the Hart family though, they lost a son, a brother, and a wonderful father. Owen, we miss you too!!!
Since day one when I realized how good Bret really was in the ring I formed a respect and admiration for him. He came to visit us in our home twice a week, he became almost like a family member!!! Who he is still came through the wrestling persona. As I continued to watch each and every week and each and every show I grew more and aligned to this person. I hated the shows when he wasn't on......but when he decided to retire from wrestling, my heart sank. I wanted to meet this person who spent so much time in my livingroom!
I finally got to meet him a year later at a show in Hayward last July. My birthday was one week later. I knew I'd be nervous so I wrote out a note telling him basically what is written here. He was all I expected and more ... all the feelings I had about him were so right on. I found him to be somewhat shy (but so am I, that made it twice as bad ... thank God for the note I wrote), and eyes that look right into your soul, very open and gracious. After the picture was taken I handed him my note and left. Well, not really. I got my camera and stood at the side of the ring for the whole time he was there (sorry Bret). I had to because I don't know if the occasion to see him ever again will occur. For awhile my note was on the table and then at some point it disappeared whether into the trash or into his goodie bag, so I don't know if he ever got it. Towards the end of the signings and photos one of the guys who usually helps at the sports and wrestling gigs (works with my other half) motioned me to come over to the other side and told me that he would be leaving this way "Nows your chance for that hug you want, just ask him!!" So as Bret walked by I called to him, twice in fact, so our friend got his attention and directed him to me. I asked if I could give him a hug and he complied (hard part, letting go!!!). So much of who a person is comes out at those times and I felt that everything I believed about him was true. He is, not was, and always will be my Hero. Bret I really hope you read this because I would love to send you a copy of the note that I had originally written for you if you never got that note. And my hope would be that you would read it personally.
We caught my best memory on film, I can still look at the pictures and feel that warmth all over that I had that day. Bret if I ever see you again, I'll try not to be so shy around you and I would just like to sit down and talk to you, about you, your life, and your life after wrestling (will you ever REALLY quit??)
I'll hold you in my heart, and always remember you as "my Canadian", my hero!!!! (and btw, I'm sorry I stood there so long - I WASN'T with the two blondes directly in front of you, I was on your right side taking advantage of your being here with us and getting photos. Thanks for the hug!!!)

My favourite Bret Hart memory is when he beat the Undertaker at Summerslam for his world title.
That match was a classic and Bret proved once again that he is the Excellence of execution.
Since Bret Hart has left wrestling it just has not been the same. Bret was wrestling for so many years and he carried the WWF for the whole time he was in the federation

Personally, Bret Hart was always a favourite of mine and still is. It was perhaps the darkest day in wrestling when the Hitman announced his retirement from wrestling. That was a shocker for me and I'm sure for the rest of the fans. I am a big WWF fan and Bret may not have been my favourite during his time in the WWF, however when you look at the whole picture and watch Bret Hart's "Wrestling with Shadows" it tells the tale of a Royal ScrewJob. My favourite moment of Bret's was I think it was either the 1996 or 1997 Royal Rumble when Austin was in the ring sitting on the top turnbuckle waiting for his next opponent. Prior to that, he was mocking everyone and doing pushups and all, also he had a feud with his next opponent, but then his next opponent was the one, the only the Legendary Bret the Hitman Hart. As soon as Bret's music hit, Austin put both his hands on his head regretting the Hitman coming out. Austin tried to act brave and not afraid but once Bret hit the ring, Austin was taken to school. Bret slapped the Sharp-Shooter on Austin and he was tapping right away. Keep in mind they were the only 2 guys in the ring at the time, the next entry was Jerry Lawler, a guy who also had a feud with the Hitman, he went into the ring and snuck up from behind on the hitman but the Bret caught him and eliminated him right away. (That was perhaps the fastest elimination ever in a Royal Rumble). Although Bret did not end up winning the Rumble officially, he sure did make an impact which lead to the Final Four as I recall. (I think it ended up being a PPV)
That Royal Rumble Moment was my favourite and still is with Bret making his Trimphant entrance to the ring and kicking butt.
 Thanks for the memories Bret

The only Wrestler I ever respected a Heartfelt Champion...You are the icon of wrestling. Russian neckbreaker, Backbreaker, Elbow drop off the 2nd rope SPLATT! Ah what about the flying clothesline...wow!....... SharpShooter no-one does it better........Ring the bell, its over. It's a known fact that 'The Hitman' is the Best there ever Was, Is, and Will be.
I spotted the 'Hart Foundation' back in the green and black attack, in the tag team days, & I just knew...Greatness was in the making......And when the strap was around your waist, I remember the open invitations to all wrestlers who thought they were up to it, to sign on the dotted line, (was there anyone you didn't beat up...LoL) and 'Hitman' you proved to the world, You are the BEST!
Many great battles and great moments, in and out of the ring. 'Hitman' I loved it all, even WcW days, I didn't blame you. The only wrestler I ever followed, there is no-one else. You are the GRESTEST WRESTLER EVER TO SKILL THE RING.
  Blessings, RaggaDon, New Zealand
I have been a fan of the Hitman for years, mostly after Summerslam when he and the Anvil beat won their second tag team titles. Bret really showed he was a champion After he won his first WWF championship title, he was on the best streak of defending the title and retaining it. Until Wrestlemania 9, in a match he almost had won with the Sharpshooter, he won it back at Wrestlemania 10 when Yoko fell of the top rope and Bret covered him for the pin. He was one the first men to have beaten Yoko. Then the three more that he won after that. He is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and he will go down in history as on of the greatest champions of all time because he is the BEST there is, the BEST there was and the BEST there ever will be.

Well, I'm 18 now, and I've been a WWF Fan since I was 10, I have to say that my favorite "Hitman" moment was during the match between him and HBK at Wrestlemania XII, it was in my opinion the best match in the history of the WWF and his career. But I also have to say that it was UNFAIR to the point of disgusting the way he was screwed by Vince, and I can't belive how he still manages to show his face in public, and I wish Bret the best of luck.

 Dear Bret!!!
I hope you will read this because I«m a big fan of you at the first time when I see you I was only 6 years old and my mother wakes me up when WWF started and call: "Bianca you must stand up Bret is there!"` As you were in Stuttgart (Germany) my Mother was there to see you and after your match she stand on the ring and then as you came she said "Bret you are the best!" And she touched you and was so happy at this day. I think I'm a bit jealous because I wasn't there. Your children can be very proud that they have so a great dad. You were my favourite wrestler, you are my favourite wrestler and you will it ever be.
I Love You, Bianca Jessica Schubert, 13 years from Reutlingen Germany

Bret look at this SITE! There are all Bret fans! Until I was 5 years old, I was a HITMAN fan and now I'm 14 and nothing changed for me. You are a wrestler who always said the truth, who fought so hard. Bret I know Vince and the WWF screwed you, but it doesn't matter. Look, all your fans stand behind you and will never forget you. For ME and for THEM you will always be the KING OF THE RING and the EXCELLENCE OF EXCECUTION!!! For me you are the greatest wrestler.
YOUR BIGGEST FAN BIANCA from GERMANY I.L.Y
My favorite Bret Hart memory when I got to meet the man here in Louisville at a book signing. He is my role model. I named my child after him ,Bret William Barnett. I shook his hand. I was really speechless and I'll cherish that memory for the rest of my life. Thank you bret -- five-star class act, the best there is was and ever will be. Believe that.

It's a shame Bret left the WWF. He had so much potenial! Now that He's gone To WCW, WWF will NEVER EVER be The SAME AGAIN!!! One of Hart's Greatest Moments is when he defened his title against Shawn Micheals in a 60 minute IRON MAN match. Hart should Have Won, but That idiot Gorilla Moonson demanded that the match continue after the 60 minutes. Shawn hit Hart with the "Sweet Chin Music" and picked up the win!!!

To tell you the truth I am a biggggggggggg Undertaker fan but I am a great fan of Bret Hart too. He is one of the best to step in to the square circle. The Hart family has done so much for the business specially for WWF. I really love the championship match at Wrestlemania XII between Bret Hart & Shawn Micheals back in 1996. I still watch the match. I love the match and I really really hate it too. I love it coz Bret proved himself and hate coz the WWF screwed Bret Hart out of the title. I really hate the big politicals in WWF like Rock- Austin- HHH. The second memory I have is the Montreal screw job. I was just astonishted to see E .Hebner call the bell. Man they could have ended the match in a d.q. as Bret was about to leave for WCW . But they tried to ruin his career. But as they say truth prevails, Bret became the top dog of WCW. I wanna see Bret wrestle in some more matches.
 kirantradcom

One of my favorite matches of all time was the Owen Hart tribute match between Bret and Chris Benoit. I can't even put into words what I was feeling while I watched it, but I was mesmorized. Two of the best of all time. What a match. I just wish I could see Bret wrestle again. He's still my favorite.
 mnord

I have been a big the Undertaker fan . I started watching wrestling cuz of guys like Taker --Bret Hart --Hogan --Nash --Shawn Micheals. I have never missed a single match of Taker since1993 or so. But I have come to the conclusion that Bret Hart, The Undertaker are one of the founders of modern wrestling. I have seen Bret as one of the great competitors . He just excels One thing is final that there is no match to Bret Hart. Only Undertaker is the guy who is of Bret"s calibre. The Fart family has done so much for the sport especially for WWF but the management of WWF has really betrayed the Hart family. They just screwed Bret at Montreal in his own country. Not only bret I feel that Undertaker has been screwed at times like JudgmentDay 2001. Throughout his career he has been made to job to guys like Austin Rock Hogan but he has never complained coz he is a mans man. I feel that WWF can never pay back what the Hart family has done for the whole sports entertainment .Bret Hart is -the best there is-the best there was & the best there ever will be.b....
 sameer kaushal

Bret was not screwed out of the title at WM in the iron man match it was Shawn's time. My biggest memory of Bret will always be his Hart Foundation days I was always glued to the TV when Bret and Anvil were on they were one of the greatest TAG TEAM (read not 2 guys thrown together for ratings ("cough" UT- Kane)
Why is it when Bret had the title it was legit but when anyone beat him you all say he was screwed when Austin hit Bret with a chair to win the title it was part of the story -- calm down.
I'll remember Bret for one thing he forgot about rule one YOU DON'T JUMP SHIP WITH THE STRAP and his delusions of grandure wouldn't let him drop to Shawn
