SLAM! Wrestling Canadian Hall of Fame: Bret Hart Memories

Bret Hart Memories

Bret Hart
I've been watching WWF wrestling for 12 years now I got to you,Bret Hart is the man.Every time I see the Hitman he kicks ass.I'm 15 years old and a true Hart fan.
Two weeks ago I went to RAW is WAR in Kansas City M.O..I saw all the members of the Hart Foundation and it was awsome.I'm the only Hart fan in town.I went with my two friends Chad VanSteenburg and Kenny Illif. When Bret and the Hart Foundation came out to harass the KLIQ (they suck) we went to ringside and as Bret and the Hart Foundation were leaving Kenny yelled hey Bret you suck and right after Bret flipped him off.I was laughing my head off.Imust say the Hart Foundation really kicked ass that night. And after Owen beat up Hawk and Bret beat up HHH I rubbed it in their faces.
Now I have a WWF champion belt. And we wrestle for it.I'm Bret Hart,Kenny is Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Chad is Chad the BadMan Bordello. We have Tournaments for it all the time. And sometimes I win but if I start loosing I just crawl out of the ring and let the time expire. My future goal is to become a member of the Hart Foundation. My friends at school joke around saying stuff like ''what would you do if Bret Hart told you that you were the new leader of the Hart Foundtion''.Stuff like that .And sometimes people call me the Hitman but its just to make me feel like I'm tough even though I am.So Bret or any members of the Hart Foundation if you some how read this I just want to say you guys RULE!
 John M Merrick
I have been a wrestling fan for over three years. The first WWF match that I saw was Bret against Yoko at Wrestle Mania 10 and it was great.
From that time on, I have loved the HITMAN! He is not just a great wrestler, but he is a great person. He was the one that wrote that article about Brian Pillman, not Shawn, not Undertaker, not Stone Cold! People who say that they do not like Bret should go and see a doctor! Bret is definately the best there is, the best there was and the best that there ever will be!
 Najib Mozahem, mozahem@emirates.net.ae
BRET you are the best. I don't know who austin thinks he is but we all know you can kick the crap out of him, and everybody in the WWF.Even though you hate americans I'm still your fan.
 bynch@maileast.citlink.net
Well Bret Hart you did it again and we all know you are the best there is,the best there was,and the best there ever will be.i love watching you wrestle.i watch WWF every- monday night .i even watch all the older ones to.you have always been my favorite wrestle ,since i was a little girl.i hope you will kick Shawn Michaels but come surviver series and keep the belt.i know you will and i know you will mess up forooq on monday raw is war.i know Shawn Michaels would maybe interfere but we all know you will take care of him, because you are the best there is,the best there was,and the best there ever will be good luck depending on you

I've been a World Wrestling Federation Fanatic for 6-7 years now and I've always liked Bret Hart. He is the "Gifted Athlete" to Mr. Vince McMahon and the WWF. Bret tries his best everynight to give the audience watching him a Good Show but lately the American Audience don't respect him because he don't respect USA. Bret Hart respects USA and always did. His mother is American and he admitted that he has nothing against USA but he deserves the proper respect also. I am a Proud Canadian writing this in Memory.
Bret, I will be at Survivor Series '97, I will cheer you all the way. Bret, trust me, you will be well respected in Canada. Lately the Americans started respecting you, is it because you face people that they hate or is it because they go with the stronger man ? That nobody knows, but I am aonly going to Survivor Series to see you beat the Living Hell out of Shawn Michaels and if you loose the belt, I will be very depressed, cause I know that you can beat HBK, you did it three times before : For the IC Belt, In a Cage, At MSG in October '97 on Raw. So do it for Canada, do it for your fans, end Shawn's career, we know you could, now's the tiem to proove it.
  Jaspreet Mathur, JMHITMAN@aol.com
I remember how Bret was my hero in the WWF about a year ago and how I was cheering when he decided to come back after his "vacation" after WM 12. I was so happy to see Bret back in the ring to keep the wrestling game in the middle of the ring... one on one.
I was also glad when Bret & all his other family-members decided to forget about their problems and form the Hart Foundation.
What made me like him a LITTLE less (only a very little), was when they started carrying out flags to the ring and telling USA was such a crappy place and so on... Lately every single person does it and it's REALLY not in the sport... or so I think anyway.
 Marius (South Africa -- mi@rincewind.aztec.co.za)
I never even knew Chris Benoit until I seen him take on Kevin Sullivan At the Great American Bash '96. The first time I seen him wrestle I just had to learn more about him. I've watch him wrestle ever since then, and have read more and learned more and more about him. He is my favorite wrestler and I belive him to be the greatest alive today. I am looking to have a great career in wreastling like his. I've studied his style and have follwed his every move. I look at Benoit as a great role model and a super athlete. I wish him a happy life and a long career filled with honors and titles. Good Luck Chris!

Back in mid 80's, while I was 10 years old, I came a visited to my uncle's house with family watched wrestling video, and there were Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart as the Hart Foundation. It really caught my attention with their unhearted, violence and brutal match. Since then, I love this sport very much. I love Bret's appearance, intro music, wrestling skill, ability, determination, shape, looks, interviews and everything about him including his family, brothers and sisters. Then, came Wrestlemania Tour in Singapore where I'd spent much money to go there just to see this guy. And there he is, standing in front of me, the real hero and the Canadian patriot ....He is really stunned me with his 6' 1'' tall and 235 pounds (looks huge among the Asian), macho, damn good-looking with slicked-black back-comb hair including black sun-glasses. Guys and mostly girls cheered hysteriacally at him. I started to pay more attention at him when he left Paul Roma (The Young Stallion) unconscious after delivered him with his 'butt-drop' onto his face form the second turn-buckle. And then, leave the arena with his hatred and unmercyful face reaction. Since then, I've became his no. 1 and die-hard fan.
Good luck Bret and I always be your die-hard fan. I hope you have read these.....

When I was a kid, my brother used to make me watch wrestling. I liked it well enough so I didn't care. Anyway, I stopped watching it untill about 4 years ago, when a friend got me back into it. Last summer I was at the skydome for the card they had there. The morning after, I couldn't sleep, so I went to the lobby to do some drawing. After about 20 minutes, who should step of the elevator but Bret Hart. So I got up and limped over to ask for an autograph. " What's with the foot?"
  "unrelated rugby incident."
 "You play rugby?"
 "Yea."
 "Cool."

My favorite memory of The "Hit Man" is when he hit Vince McMahon in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He came out to make a point and he made it, although it went against his own morals ,and beliefs he made his point. It made me proud to see a Canadian have the upper hand over an American. But most of all it made me proud to be a Canadian!!!
 Mark Holtschneider, mholtschneider@gcnet.net
I am an American, and I love Bret Hart. He has been my favorite wrestler for the better part of my 10 years watching wrestling. The origional Hart Foundation was the greatest tag team ever, and at a time when the WWF was extremely uninteresting to me, The New Hart Foundation was born. I have been a dedicated fan again evere since. I am happy to see him and Owen back together, and I can't wait to see him kick HBK's butt at the Survivor Series.
It seems every week on Raw, Bret recieves more and more cheers. Maybe people realise that he's right, or that he's just the greatest of all time.

Well I only started watching a few years ago and I enjoy it very much. my favourite wrestler is Bret Hart and he really is the exellence of execution. I am from Trinidad and Tobago. I watch RAW every Monday night. He is the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be. That's all I have to say about that.
 Candice, jenny@trinidad.net
The first time I saw Bret Hart was May 19, 1997 in my hometown of Mobile, Alabama for a live show of Raw is War. Although he trashed the fans, I was just in shock at being in the same area as the "Excellent of Execution". I can't wait to meet him again.....but this time I'm going to ask him for his autograph!

I have been a World Wrestling Federation fan for almost 10 years and the first person who I began to idolize was Bret Hart. At first I liked wrestlers like Hulk Hogan and the Macho Man Randy Savage but close relatives of mine were more interested in people like Bret Hart who are true "wrestlers" not people like Hulk Hogan with only six or seven move and virtually no mobility. In less than two months I was a huge Bret Hart Fan and I have only been watching the WWF for only a few months. Bret Hart's style amazes me with his tactics to destroy his opponents vertical base and leaving them unable to stand. I guess Bret's Father must have been one of the greatest wrestlers of all tie to teach Bret all those moves! My favorite PPV was at Survivor Series 96 and Wrestle Mania 12. Wrestle Mania 12 Bret Hart faced Shawn Michaels and I have to say that it was one of the greatest matches of all time. In Survivor Series 96, Bret Hart faced that idiot Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin thought that he was going to have an easy match with Bret Hart but boy did Bret Hart show him!!
A sad but strong day for me was the period when the American wrestling fans turned their back's on Bret. They would always boo Bret Hart when all he was doing was telling the WWF officials that he was being used and cheated off of! I think that Bret Hart made the right decision after Wrestle Mania 13 when he told the American Wrestling fans the truth about how the are acting and how crazy it is about their role models. I am an American and I am not ashamed to say that Bret Hart is my idol and that he is the greatest wrestler in the WWF and I hope that soon the rest of the Americans come to their senses and learn who the real role models are.
When Bret Hart won the WWF title for a fifth time at Summerslam I was absolutely thrilled. I hope that Bret Hart holds on to the belt for a long time and when the sad day comes that he must retire, he will walk out with his head up high.
Thanks for the memories Bret. You will always be my hero.

I was sitting aisleside for the World Title match. Sycho Sid defending against Bret "Hitman" Hart inside a steel cage. My friend and I were probably the most vocal Hart supporters in the building, as the Psychotic one's fans seemed to overwhelm us. Bret was magnificent in the match. At one point, he had Sid locked in the Sharpshooter, and if it was a normal match, I believe the title would have changed hands right then and there. But no. This was a cage match. After releasing the Sharpshooter, Bret started to climb the cage, while Sid crawled towards the door. I'll admit, Sid's hands hit the ground before Bret's feet, but I thought the rule was whoever's FEET hit the floor first won. Apparently not. After a premature celebration by my friend and I, we saw the referees arguing, and eventually they awarded the match to Sid. I booed the decision, but it didn't help. As you walked angrily back to the locker room, I shouted over the chorus of derogatory remarks toward you, and said, "You won that match bret, YOU really won." It was the most awesome thing I've ever experienced. Less than five feet away from my one and only role model. I don't care if Vince stuck you with the "I hate Americans" gimick, in which all you really do is tell us the truth about our country, I'll still cheer you. I hope others will too.
Joe Lorraine, Michigan's "self-described" most dedicated Hart fan.
Bret we all love you!!! You're the man! You're the Man Hitman! We love you. I remember last time when ya'l came to Dallas, TX reunion Arena I was the only fan! I was cheering 4 U! we love you BRET!!! Don't leave the WWF! WWF is your HOME BRET. WCW sucks. Wcw is where the old boys play.

The first wrestling show i ever saw was WrestleMania 2. I attenden the Los Angeles card but remembering watching the other arena matches on a wide screen. My fondest memore of that night was Andre picking up Bret off the top rope in the battle royal. For some reason after that bret always stuck in my mind. I loved the Black & Blue outfits the harts had in that era. from that point on i followed Brets career in the WWF. since 1996 when the nWo was formed i alwasy thought Bret was loyal. but i guess Sting has wan the title of who is most loyal to their company. but i know Bret had to do what was best for him, I just hope he & his peers remember what company made the "HitMan". Bret is no doubt one of the best there was, is or will be. I believe he is more talented than Michaels and HHH couldn't even dream of being as talanted as Bret. I wish nothing but the best of luck to Bret in is new adventures in WCW. Hopefully I can get a chance to meet him since I live in Atlanta. I just want to say that bret, you will get screwed in WCW at one point while you are there but hopefully it won't be in the manner that McMahon the rat did to you. Thanks to McMahon *(&*(* Bret the way he did, WCW has a new viewer to their shows........

I would have to say that my most fondest memory of Bret was when he won the IC title for the first time and went to his dad. I will always remeber the look in his dad's eyes.
Then there was the time 4 years ago when the WWF came to Florence for the first time ever. Bret came around the ring and shook hands with his fans. I was one of them. I will always remember the way his had felt.
Thanks Bret for all the memories of the past and the ones to come.
  WCW just got another viewer.

I started watching wrestling because of Bret Hart. He was the coolest guy I'd ever seen. He was awesome. Everthing about him was cool. His talent, his looks, and his attitude. He is a guy I truly look up too. We went to see the WWF live this past September. My cool was to get Bret to smile at me. We had second row seats so I figured it would be an easy task. I knew Bret really didn't hate Americans and this was his chance to prove to me that he is a great guy. I had a Hart Foundation shirt on and a Canada shirt at my side. Bret came to our side of the ring as I was holding up the shirt. He smiled at me! That made my whole night. I was so happy that my all-time favorite athletes acknoledged me. Bret I'll miss you when you go to WCW because I am a WWF fan but I wish him the best of luck and keep in mind that he will always be my favorite I'll just have to watch tapes of Nitro.
  A true Bret fan, Rachel
I've been a Fan of Bret's for about 6 years and he was my draw to the WWF and He is always gonna be the best there is the best there was and the Best there ever will be and I want him to know that everyone is with him in his move and we Love him especally me I love you Bret.

I'm proud to say that for the past seven years, at the very least, I have been a devoted Bret Hart fan. As an American some comments Bret made hurt, but I refused to give up and remained as loyal a fan to the Hitman as I could. I had the opportunity to finally see a live WWF event when they came back to Atlantic City for RAW. It was a great night. I was so excited. I went with my brother, his girlfriend, and her brother. The main thing I remember was taking pictures. When Bret first made his appearance, I think because the Patriot was fighting, my brother took the camera from me, got up on his chair and took two pictures. That has to be one of the nicest thing he has ever done for me. I would never have stood on a chair even to get a picture of "the best there is...was.. and ever will be." The best picture I have from that night wasn't one that I or even my brother took. It was one given to me by a friend who had a much better camera. I really love that picture and others she has given me. If she ever reads this: Thanks J.B.!
I was so happy when I heard Bret was going to go to WCW. Now I don't have to worry about switching back and forth between Nitro and RAW!
I guess what I really would like to say is "Thanks for some great memories Bret! I can't wait to see you on Nitro!"
  a devoted fan, Margo
One of my favourite Bret Hart memories was meeting him at Toronto's Skydome back in January. My thoughts about him are that he is THE greatest wrestler that has entered the WWF and McMahon was a fool to do what he did to Bret.
In the ring, I'd say his best matches were with Curt Hennig, Steve Austin and the iron man match (although, I was furious about the outcome)
But, for me what memory will really stand out will be I'd say tied between when Bret defeated Ric Flair in I believe it was in Saskatoon for the world's championship and that of Bret's reception in Toronto last summer.
