Chyna up for family TV series
By JAM! TV
Former World Wrestling Federation star Chyna has gotten up off the mat and headed for Hollywood.
The Hollywood Reporter says Chyna, whose real name is Joanie Laurer, is in talks with Fox Broadcasting to star as an inner-city guidance counselor, in a series being described as a cross between "Dangerous Minds" and "Kindergarten Cop."
The report said she has also signed on to guest-star opposite Adrian Paul on the action series "Tracker." Laurer told The Hollywood Reporter she hopes the as-yet-untitled Fox series will do for her career what "Kindergarten Cop" did for Schwarzenegger: remake a tough image for family consumption.
"After six years with the WWF, I'm in a place in my life right now where I always wanted to be," she told The Hollywood Reporter.
"Chyna became a household name, and she was the great equalizer in the WWF. Now things are starting to happen for me as Joanie, and it's exciting to be standing on my own two feet."
