She's got legs
Sexy Stacy is definitely not one of the guys

By TY PILSON -- Calgary Sun

Sex sells. No surprise, there. And nobody knows that better than WWE owner Vince McMahon.

In the early '90s, McMahon began the 'WWF Attitude' campaign which mixed rock 'n' roll, crazy storylines and sex to make the then-WWF the biggest show around. So big, in fact, the WWF's flagship show RAW surpassed Monday Night Football as TV's ratings giant.

That came, in large part, to the bevy of beauties -- known as Divas -- who graced the airwaves in various states of undress, either wrestling in the ring or simply looking good. Either way, the fans were buying what they were selling.

Stacy Keibler, known for her famous legs that just don't seem to end, is one of the most popular Divas. The 22-year-old Baltimore native was in Calgary yesterday for last night's Smackdown!, although she wasn't slated to perform.

The former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader and WCW Nitro Girl admitted life in the WWE for a girl is much different than it is for her male counterparts.

"It is tough being a woman because it is a male-dominated sport," said Keibler, whose current schtick is that of McMahon's personal assistant. "There's good and bads to that. It's hard because the guys do so much more. For example, for me, on the house shows, I'm having a swimsuit contest with Torrie (Wilson) and Ivory. While we get physical at the end, we're not having a full match. These guys are out there busting their butts having matches four nights a week so there's always a bit of a different level. I have a lot of respect for the men."

Of course, being a WWE sex symbol has other pitfalls, like the constant bad press that invariably lands on the WWE's lap. The company has been constantly bashed over the years by critics who say it has contributed to the moral demise of society.

Still, Keibler agreed the WWE does rely on its Divas to grab audience attention but said not all of them play the same part or serve the same role.

"We have a variety of women on our show," she explained. "You don't see every girl out there in skimpy outfits. I think that's a very cool part. Everybody has their different characters. But a woman in this business is going to be a sex symbol."

And being a WWE sex symbol isn't always easy.

"I try to make mine not so skimpy," laughed Keibler.

"Being in front of millions of viewers in your underwear isn't something that happens everyday. But I just do what I'm told."

Despite Keibler's trademark legs, the most noticeable trait about her is something very unusual, almost unheard of in the WWE -- no breast implants.

From Chyna to Sable, augmenting has become a way of life for women in sports-entertainment. Even McMahon's daughter, Stephanie, expanded her horizons.

Therefore, Keibler's choice not to go down that road is unique, indeed.

"There's that pressure that everybody's doing it, I wonder if I should do it too," she explained. "But I also feel that I've come this far and got where I am by not doing anything (like that).

"I think it's kind of refreshing to see someone who's out there kind of being different in my own way. I got into this business the way I am and I keep going. I'm in great storylines and I don't think that if I went out and say, for instance, got a boob job, it would make all that much difference."

"I think I'm lucky that I didn't have to go out and get my boobs and then come here and say 'I got my boobs, now can I have a job.' "
