Show's a cookin'
By TY PILSON -- Calgary Sun

Get ready for some body-slamming, pile-driving pandemonium tomorrow night at the 'Dome.

The superstars of the World Wrestling Federation make their return to Calgary for the hugely popular RAW Is WAR!

The event will be broadcast live from Calgary to the world via TSN and TNN.

Some of the big-name WWF superstars scheduled to appear at the Sun-sponsored event include Stone Cold Steve Austin,The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Rikishi, Haku, Edge and Christian, Too Cool, Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho, who honed their skills in Calgary under the tutelage of Stu Hart in the legendary Dungeon, The Ninth Wonder of the World Chyna, X-Pac, Billy Gunn, Tazz, The Acolytes, Right To Censor, Trish Stratus, The McMahon family, as well as many more of your favourite WWF stars seen regularly on the tube.

WWF superheel Triple H, originally on the card, won't wrestle at the event after suffering an injury early last week, tearing his left quadracep muscle at an event in San Jose.

The Rock, a.k.a. Dwayne Johnson, who spent a little time in Calgary trying out for the Stamps many years back, is another WWF superstar who won't be participating in the show. The Rock has taken a hiatus from the WWF to promote his new movie, The Mummy Returns, in which he plays the Scorpion King. The flick has grossed an amazing $146.5 million so far.

There's no need to despair though, as local fans will get to see the Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin, live, as he brings his down south cussin' to town. Austin has also been known to partake in a few wobbly pops before and after his matchs, much to the pleasure of the crowd, who are often doing the same thing.

The Ninth Wonder of the World, Chyna, still garnering attention after her much vaunted Playboy pictorial, will also be at the 'Dome. So will Toronto's Trish Stratus. The amply-endowed fitness queen was a big hit when the WWF came to town last May. I wonder why?

The Undertaker, the American Badass, will no doubt be looking to kick a little as well, most likely that of Stone Cold.

Chris Jericho, who was born in Winnipeg but lived in Calgary for many years, working the door at various bars, and Chris Benoit, an Edmonton native, spent their last visit to Calgary beating each other up but return as allies and tag-team champs.

The Acolytes, perhaps the only other WWF superstars who can give Stone Cold a good run in any crack and guzzle competition, are known for their brutality in the ring, which always goes over well with fans.

And, of course, there's always the McMahon family. The grand poohbas of the wrestling world always put on a good show. Now that the family has acquired the rival WCW, there seems to be no limit to how far they can take wrestling.

However, Vince said the same about football not too long ago. Then he started some league that didn't do that well. I can't quite remember what it was called, though.

Fans attending the event can pick up a WWF Mini-Sun, featuring pictures of some of the most popular WWF superstars, from ushers following the show. You'll have to be quick though, as there are only 10,000 to be given away.
