Hogan still bringing it
By TIM BAINES --
Wrestling fans can dump all over Hulk Hogan. He's old, he moves like every step could be his last step and he's bald. But Hulk Hogan is still Hulk Hogan.
The crowd at Smackdown! in Montreal nearly tore the roof off the Molson Centre with a deafening and emotional roar that lasted more than 10 minutes.
If Hogan hadn't finally quieted the crowd by talking, the noise would likely still be ringing.
It was a solid Smackdown! Funny seeing Billy get stinkfaces from each of Hogan, Rikishi, Edge and Triple H after the cameras went off.
Marc Gagnon, Andre Savard, Michel Therrien and Gino Odjick were at the show
Trish had a sweet homecoming on RAW in Toronto, winning the women's title over Jazz. Way to go Trish! Jazz was later put through a table by Buh Buh Ray Dudley, which should set up some time off for her.
While RAW got mixed reviews, this corner enjoyed it. This from Ric Flair: "I'm a 16-time world champion, that makes me 15 times better than the Toronto Maple Leafs." Then, after he was surrounded by "You suck" chants, while pointing to The Big Show, he yelled: "Unlike the Maple Leafs, I don't have little itty bitty Tie Domi. I've got a real enforcer."
About that vignette, A Day in the Life of Tommy Dreamer: Funny, very funny. Toilet humour at its best. As Dreamer was shown drinking toilet water, he deadpanned: "This is better than regular water, it's a lot colder."
Sign seen at the Air Canada Centre: nWo -- Never Welcome in Ontario.
Hilarious seeing Booker T dressed as a lumberjack with Goldust crooning, "I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay ..."
Among those on hand for RAW were Maple Leafs' Wade Belak and Raptors' Tracy Murray and Jerome Williams. Murray and Williams regularly do a wrestling roundtable on the Fan 590 with hosts Joltin' Joe and Norm Rumack.
Reports from the WWE show in Halifax say the fans were cheering for Lance Storm so much he had to say: "C'mon guys, I'm trying to be a heel."
Alex Rizzo, who was Big Dick Dudley in ECW, was found dead Thursday. The cause of death is unknown.
Prowrestling.com says Ken Shamrock has signed a deal with Jeff Jarrett's new NWA organization. Reports also suggest the group is trying to land The Ultimate Warrior.
Deacon Bautista, D-Von's bodyguard, was Leviathon in a previous wrestling life.
On tonight's Judgment Day pay-per-view: Hogan defends his title against The Undertaker; Ric Flair will team with The Big Show in a handicap match against Steve Austin; Triple H faces Chris Jericho in a Hell in the Cell match; Eddie Guerrero versus Rob Van Dam; Kurt Angle vs. Edge (loser gets his hair cut); Trish vs. Stacy Keibler; Billy and Chuck versus Rikishi and a mystery partner and Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman versus The Hardy Boyz.
