ECW cancels PPV, launches new CD
Call it an up and down day for Extreme Championship Wrestling.

On the same day that the promotion announced that their Living Dangerously pay-per-view, scheduled for Sunday, March 11, was cancelled, they also released details of a new CD.

Bill Custers, the Director Of Programming and Marketing at Viewer's Choice Canada, informed SLAM! Wrestling that a lawyer from ECW called his counterpart in the U.S. and said this Sunday's event is cancelled.

"We wish Paul and his entire team the best of luck...they were great to work with," said Custers.

As for the CD, it is called ECW II: Anarchy Rocks, and will be released on March 20. In a typically hyperbolic press release, Concrete Planet, V2Records and ECW gushed "Anarchy Rocks harnesses the brutal aggression that has become a trademark of Extreme Championship Wrestling, a trait that has given the organization infamy among Fundamentalist Parent Groups and a number of Senatorial hearings exposing advertised violence from the Entertainment industry. The controversy reached such a fevered apex that it garnered the association's Pay-Per-View home video 'Hardcore Heaven' cover placement on Variety Magazine!"

Among the tracks are:

  • Jerry Lynn's theme song "El Cu Cuy" by Coal Chamber
  • Sinister Minister's theme song "Holy Man" by One Minute Silence
  • Mikey Whipwreck's theme song "Head" by Static-X
  • Spike Dudley's theme song "Highway to Hell" by Jesse James Dupree
  • New Jack's theme song "Natural Born Killaz" by F.M. Racket
  • Steve Corino's theme song "Welcome Burden" by Disturbed

"Wrestling and hard music is a match made in Heaven, or Hell, depending on your point of view. I have put together a number of compilations and soundtracks, but this was the most fun!" said Bob Chiappardi, president of Concrete Marketing in the release.

Despite the launch of the CD, speculation continues to mount that the hardcore wrestling promotion may be closing its doors soon. Company owner Paul Heyman was the colour commentator on the WWF's Raw Is War this past Monday.
