McMahon on the brink
By TIM BAINES -- Toronto Sun
The World Wrestling Federation is on the edge of something big -- and
its maniacal, diabolical owner Vince McMahon appears to be on the edge of
insanity.
McMahon foreshadowed the event on RAW when he suggested he was about to do
something wrestlers would regret, fans would regret and even he might regret.
McMahon, with a Jack Nicholson-like twinkle in his eye, had a brilliant
performance on Smackdown!
At the end of a long soliloquy, McMahon said: "I'm going to inject the WWF
with a lethal dose of poison. If anyone is going to kill my creation, it will
be me ... and the nWo."
As WWF co-owner Ric Flair would say ... Whoooo!
Kevin Nash (the former Diesel) and Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) have signed and
Hulk "Hollywood" Hogan, is right behind.
Look for Daddy's little girl, Stephanie, to return to her father's side to
try to destroy the WWF.
Leading the good guys will be Stephanie's storyline husband and real-life
main squeeze Triple H. A split between the two should happen before
Wrestlemania.
Triple H will meet the WWF champion at Wrestlemania after winning the
Royal Rumble, eliminating Kurt Angle last. The third-last competitor in the
30-man, over-the-top-rope competition, was Mr. Perfect, while Austin was
eliminated fourth last. The Undertaker was knocked out of contention when he
was distracted by Lita and sent over the rope by Tough Enough winner Maven.
Deadman Inc. made Maven pay, tossing his head through a popcorn machine.
Speaking of The Undertaker, look for Deadman Inc. to feud with The Rock.
Rumble results: Chris Jericho over The Rock; Tazz and Spike Dudley over
The Dudley Boyz; William Regal defeated Edge for the Intercontinental title,
with the help of brass knuckles; Trish beat Jazz and a bloodied Flair pounded
McMahon in a street fight.
It looks like Mr. Perfect, who at age 43 looks to be in great shape, and
Goldust aren't just one-shot wonders. Perfect was assaulted by Stone Cold
Steve Austin on RAW, while Goldust cut promos for both RAW and Smackdown!
The Godfather is back, but pimpin' obviously ain't easy. He showed up at
The Royal Rumble with 12 of his lovely ladies ... but don't call them Hos. The
Godfather has restructured his empire and now operates The Godfather's Escort
Service, completely above-board, he says.
Val Venis threatened to unleash the Big Valbowski during RAW, but also
faced the scorn of Austin, who delivered a stunner.
The WWF is trying to determine the No. 1 contender to face Chris Jericho
at the No Way Out pay-per-view. Angle beat The Rock and Austin defeated Booker
T to set up a showdown tomorrow night on RAW.
ProWrestling.com suggests Goldust will feud with The Rock early this
spring, right about the time The Scorpion King is released.
