WWF begins trading on NYSE
By GREG OLIVER -- SLAM! Wrestling
The WWF put another feather in its proverbial cap today as it began trading its stock on the New York Stock Exchange.
Many WWF superstars, including The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin were on hand today in New York outside the Exchange to celebrate the move from the NASDAQ exchange.
"Our move to The New York Stock Exchange positions the WWF among the
premiere businesses on the world's most prestigious exchange," said
Linda McMahon, Chief Executive Officer of WWF Entertainment. "This is another key strategic
move for the company and we look forward to a long partnership with all
those at the NYSE. We believe that this event will heighten our
recognition in the financial marketplace as we continue to build global
awareness of our brand name and our unique form of entertainment."
"We also believe our listing on the NYSE should lead Wall Street and the
entire financial community to a much clearer understanding of the
strength and popularity of the WWF," added Ms. McMahon.
The WWFE stock had its initial public offering on
October 19, 1999 on the NASDAQ exchange.
