WCW headed to B.C. for PPV

Finally, Canada is getting another pay-per-view. It just doesn't have a title yet.
WCW has scheduled their to-be-named-later August 13 PPV for Vancouver, British Columbia at the PNE Coliseum.
From there, WCW is headed to Kelowna on the Monday for Nitro, and Kamloops on the Tuesday for a Thunder taping. Both cities are about four hours from Vancouver.
Susan Rosenberg, of TNA International who handles WCW publicity in Canada, preached patience. "Nothing is signed, sealed or delivered yet," she said, adding that is no on-sale date for tickets yet either.
The promoter of the B.C.-based Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling, Dave Republic, was surprised that WCW would head to smaller towns like Kelowna and Kamloops rather than B.C.'s capital of Victoria or even Calgary or Edmonton.
"I don't know if they know what they're getting into," said Republic of Kelowna and Kamloops. Both are small towns with arenas built for Junior Hockey teams, not huge TV tapings.
Republic added that having more wrestling in B.C. can only help all wrestling. "It's a market starved for pro wrestling."
If West Coast wrestling fans take this announcement with a touch of skepticism, it is too be expected. A Nitro was scheduled for June 26 at the newer G.M. Place, but pulled from the schedule in February. (See story.
WCW is also scheduled for Toronto on September 18. The last PPV in Canada was the WCW Mayhem show in Toronto in November 1999.
