Undertaker resurrected

By GLENN COLE -- Toronto Sun

There is cause for WWF fans to rejoice -- The Undertaker is back.

His return last weekend on the WWF pay-per-view was a welcome relief and certainly he has made his presence felt and heard throughout this week on both Raw and Smackdown.

The WWF was locked in what had become a tedious storyline involving the McMahons, Triple H and The Rock.

At least with The Undertaker back in the lineup, there can be a few spinoff plots here and there and you know the 'Taker will be front and centre in many of them. No doubt The Rock will blame his loss on Judgement Day to the 'Taker.

Frankly, let's hope that sometime soon he gets the big belt. Right now, a lot of wrestling fans would settle for anybody but Triple H who has been over-exposed in the past few months along with his alleged wife Stephanie.

Didn't the Undertaker marry her once?

HERE AND THERE: Kevin Nash is the new WCW heavyweight champion. ... It will be interesting to see what kind of reaction the WWF gets tomorrow night when it touches down at Calgary's Saddledome. Strange that the WWF would schedule the card there a year and four days after Owen Hart, one of Calgary's favourite sons, died in a 50-foot fall in Kansas City. There are a number of Calgarians who are still bitter toward Vince McMahon and blame him for Hart's death. Meanwhile, Raw will originate from Vancouver's GM Place this Monday and the show apparently is sold out. ... My imagination or did Shawn Michaels look a lot smaller? ... The Big Show, who has been a big waste of time in the WWF, is on the shelf for the next six weeks or so with a knee problem. ... TV Guide will have The Rock, Benoit, Jericho and Tori on covers this week. ... Lance Storm has signed with the WCW. ... The ECW has apparently had enough of Raven. Now where does he go? ... The WWF has to find something for Bob Holly to do rather than run-ins, disrupting otherwise entertaining matches.

AT THE DOME: The Rock and The Dudleys are scheduled to meet Triple H and the his pals the Road Dogg and X-Pack on the WWF card a week tomorrow at the SkyDome. Chris Benoit, who has finally been able to exhibit his athletic prowess and is getting deserved star treatment, faces Chris Jericho and Holly in a triple-threat match for the intercontinental belt while The Hardys battle Toronto's Edge and Christian for the tag-team belts. Val Venis will also be on what will be a huge card.

OFF THE TOP ROPE: There apparently is a new independent federation working in southern Ontario. The International Wrestling Federation will be running a card tomorrow night in Hamilton, featuring some unfamiliar names such as The Ebony X-Press, The Academy, Billy Boogie, Austin Shaw, Thorn and Diamond Dan O. Bell time is 7 p.m. at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. ... The Hardcore Wrestling Federation keeps on going strong in the London area and has a card set for next Wednesday at the Ceeps Bar, Richmond Row. ... There are a few familiar names on this card including veteran Jimmy (Superfly) Snuka, now a staple on the Indy circuit, who will be battling Jack Damage; Magnus takes on Sexy Baby Jamie Jackson; Stunning Sean battles the Custom Made Man; and Gord Rease, who worked in the defunct Renegade Wrestling Association, takes on Derek Wylde. ... The AWF will be back at Cactus Pete's, 462 Birchmount, Rd., on Sunday June 11. Scheduled matches include El Fuego against Mayhem; All Knighters battling The Hollywood Hunks & Otto Baun; Tony Mac meets David Diamond.
