Goldberg to make N64 debut
By JOHN POWELL -- SLAM! Wrestling
Coming in October Goldberg fans will have their dreams come true. That's
when THQ Inc. releases the WCW/nWo Revenge video game for the Nintendo 64
game console.
Revenge, a sequel of sorts to the hugely popular WCW Vs. nWo: World Tour,
allows players to wrestle as WCW Champion Bill Goldberg or more than 40
other WCW/nWo superstars complete with their trademark finishing moves and
taunts. Some of the grapplers to choose from are Raven and The Flock, Chris
Benoit, Booker T, British Bulldog, Diamond Dallas Page, Juventud Guerrera,
Bret Hart, Kanyon, Chris Jericho, Psychosis, Saturn, Rowdy Roddy Piper and
all the nWo Wolf Pac and nWo Hollywood members in their corresponding
colors / outfits. Also available are fictional wrestlers from two
alternative federations and secret characters which become active once a
player successfully reaches certain levels of competition.
Using WCW Vs. nWo: World Tour as a foundation, THQ has added some exciting
features to the game play. The most fascinating addition for hardcore
gamers is that the 128 MB cartridge makes it possible to save win / loss
records and the titles held for each wrestler. You want to bring Dean
Malenko in nWo Wolf Pack or have Diamond Dallas Page turn traitor and join
nWo Hollywood? No problem. Gamers can play booker as well switching
characters from WCW to nWo status (or vice versa) as they see fit by
selecting a special edit feature.

The Battle Royal mode has been altered so 40 grapplers participate and as
each is eliminated a fresh superstar takes their place. Sadistic players
(like myself..heh..heh.) can cheat their way to victory by battling in the
entrance ways and scooping up illegal objects such as briefcases, chairs,
tables, bats which unlike World Tour, can now be brought directly into the
ring.
Improving upon the already mind-blowing graphics THQ has re-worked the
wrestler entrances to display a fireworks show and arena backgrounds to
choose from will include Monday Night Nitro and actual WCW pay-per-views
such as Bash At The Beach which contain their own specialized scenes and
props.
For the PC / Windows 95 gamers, WCW Nitro hits stores later this year and
boasts "photo-realistic" graphics as well as the option of multi-player
games on the Internet.
