Goldberg does his thing in ring

By ROBERT TYCHKOWSKI -- Edmonton Sun
From champion of the World League to champion of the world.

David Archer always had a feeling that former Sacramento teammate Bill Goldberg would make a big splash somewhere.

Goldberg, for the uninitiated, is the biggest name in professional wrestling since Hulk Hogan. The undefeated WCW world heavyweight champion plays to packed houses, earns millions of dollars and has developed an enormous following.

Six years ago he was sharing a locker room with Archer and Eddie Brown in Sacramento.

"He was our nose guard when we won the World League title,'' said Archer.

"He was real good against the run. Then he went to the Atlanta Falcons and was a backup D-lineman for a couple of years. He was a good guy. Always outspoken. Colourful.

"He was one of those larger than life figures that you knew something was going to happen to. He's really got it going for himself now.''
