Vader wins Japanese Triple Crown title
By JOHN MOLINARO -- SLAM! Wrestling
Former WCW and WWF star Vader defeated Mitsuhara Misawa last night at Tokyo's venerable Budokan Hall to capture the All Japan Triple Crown Heavyweight title.
Vader, real name Leon White, executed a powerbomb to score the pin at the 12:12 mark, one of the quickest Triple Crown title matches in recent history.
This is Vader's second reign as the Triple Crown Champ. Vader won the title on March 6, defeating Akira Taue, and held it until May 2, losing to Misawa at the Tokyo Egg Dome.
The most prestigious heavyweight title in Japan, the Triple Crown is consisted of the NWA International, Pacific Wrestling Federation and NWA United National titles. The titles were unified on April 18, 1989 when NWA International champion Jumbo Tsuruta defeated Stan Hansen in Tokyo.
Vader joins Terry Gordy, Stan Hansen and Steve 'Dr Death' Williams' as the only Americans to win the Triple Crown.
