Nitro to lose an hour?

Thursday, October 20, 1999
Variety is reporting that WCW's flagship Nitro program could be chopped from a three hour program to just two beginning in January. New creative director Vince Russo - formerly the head writer of the rival World Wrestling Federation - is pushing for the change in order to keep Nitro's material as fresh as possible.

The first show scripted by WCW's new writers Russo and Ed Ferrera scored a 3.3 rating, a jump from a 2.1 last week.

Frustrated with additional work brought on by the WWF's weekly Smackdown program, Russo and Ferrera jumped from the WWF to WCW earlier this month. Before joining the WWF's creative team, Russo was the editor-in-chief of the WWF Magazine.
