Stone Cold rules Moncton show
Ring Report By DAVID CAWLEY
It was announced before the show started that Vader and the Rock
sustained injuries at the SkyDome show two nights earlier and would not
be wrestling.
Match #1...Brain Christopher vs Taka Michinoku
A pretty decent match with a few high spots including Taka going over
the ropes and landing on Christopher on the outside. Match went back and
forth with Taka taking the win by rolling up Christopher for the 1, 2,
3. Christopher got a ton of heat from the crowd. I would give this match a 7/10.
Good match to get the crowd involved!
Match #2...D-Lo Brown vs Kurrgan with Jackyl.
Kurrgan came out with a
"new" theme song. Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People". The Jackyl
got on the mic and said how you must be a loser to live in such a hell
infested sewer (Moncton), and Kurrgan grabbed his hand and said, "I like
it here!" The match was decent but nothing great. D-Lo took some real
shots during this match. Kurrgan won with The Paralyzer. Kurrgan got a
HUGE pop from the crowd. I would give this match a 6/10, too short but
it was still good!
Match #3...Headbangers vs the Quebecers
The Quebecers came out to a
rousing ovation of boo's, rather amusing since they were greeted in the
back with a lot of yells of "YEAH CANADA!!" The Headbangers had a
special manager (must have been some sort of contest winner, lucky
guy!!) who decided to attack the Quebecers. The ref, and both Quebecers
had a good laugh! The Headbangers took the match with a clean pin in
what was a rather uneventful match. I would give this match a 5/10. If
the guest manager was the best part, the actual wrestling was
bad!
Match #4...Marc Mero w/ Sable vs Bradshaw.
Sable came out to a
standing ovation. Mero opened the match by doing the whole contract
routine to get Sable to remove his robe for him, and eventually made
the same speech as he did in Toronto ("Get out of the building . . . Get
out of Canada !) in the end Bradshaw took the victory with a clean pin
via the Lariat. I would give this a 7/10, although I watched Sable
during most of the match!
Match #5... Undertaker vs Kane w/Paul Bearer
The crowd was really
pumped up to what turned out to be a very short match, the Undertaker
seemed to be very tired. In the end, The Undertaker took the victory via
a DQ as Paul Bearer came in to interfere. Undertaker walked the ropes and
was about to smack Kane in the back of the head but Kane caught him on the way
down and chokeslammed him, i don't think i have ever seen that done before. Paul
is VERY large!! I thought he looked big on TV! I would give this match a 7/10,
because it was WAY too short!
Match #6...Jeff Jarrett w/ Tennesseee Lee vs Steve Blackman.
Surprisingly Double J got a great pop from the crowd and the opposite
was true for Blackman. No one really gave a rats ass about him. In what
was a good match that went back and forth Double J took the victory with
the help of Tennessee as he held Blackmans leg. I would give this match
a 6/10. Good, but it wasn't great. (Get it? Ha Ha Ha).
Match #7... Owen Hart w/ the Nation vs Faarooq
Next to Austin Owen
Hart got the second biggest pop of the night as he paraded around the
ring with a Canadian flag that he grabbed from someone in the crowd.
(Funny thing is Mark Henry was running around with it as well!)
Faarooq insulted Moncton, and the fans, seemed like his old self, using
his belt for a weapon. This match went back and forth with each man
displaying their wrestling abilities, much to the chagrin of the crowd
Faarooq took a cheap win! 8/10, Owen carried most of the match though!
Match #8... New Age Outlaws vs DOA
This was a good match as the NAO
dominated most of the match and the DOA took a lot of abuse not only
from the crowd but from the Outlaws. Road Dog did what I thought was an
excellent job in this match as he displayed some of his technical
abilities. The New Age Outlaws took the win when Road Dog smacked either
Skull or 8-Ball on the skull with one of the belts and Mr. Ass got the
easy pin 1-2-3 9/10, The Outlaws were great in this one!!
Match #9...Steve Austin vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley
Dude Love was the time keeper but only stayed a few minutes
as Austin smacked him around causing him to leave the ringside
area. Before this match started Hunter got a hold of a mic and played up
to the crowd for a few minutes. Hunter got a great pop from the crowd but it was nothing compared to the deafening pop Austin got!!! Man, the place went absolutely nuts!! Anyways
it was an excellent match with Hunter dominating most of the match. I
had a sign that said STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN RULES THE WWF BECAUSE NICK
DAVE SHAWN CHRIS AND DONNIE SAID SO!! Stone Cold saw it and smiled at
us! I loved that part! The match ended with both Chyna and Hunter
taking stunners and Austin getting the win. SCSA came out for an second time, and
before Chyna got her stunner she did three back saults, and the whole
crowd went "wow!!"
10/10. Great match up!
-Overall it was a great house show and the crowd was great!
