Douglas, known as 'The Franchise', signed a three-year deal, and announced the deal Monday.
"It all came down to the next milestone in my pro wrestling
career," said Douglas, a former ECW Heavyweight champion, in a press release.
Douglas debuted on Monday Night Nitro on July 19, and showed up during the Curt Hennig & Barry Windham vs. Chris Benoit & Perry Saturn match. He said during the show it's time to get rid of the cancer in WCW.
"The WCW offered me a very lucrative contract, but moreso than that, they offered me something immeasurable... the opportunity to be a intregal part of the intense "reconstruction" of pro wrestling's future," the press release continued.
"This is an incredible organization. Everyone in the WCW gives 900%. And I'm no
stranger to that mentality. I'm ready to take on anybody, anytime, anywhere.
Hogan, Nash, Flair, Goldberg, it doesn't matter which one comes at me first. I'll take them all on.
"I love wrestling. Everyone who knows me, knows I'm a die hard. And more than
anything I want to bring it all back to the fans. I want to give all of the
dedicated wrestling fans what they pay for... hard hitting, in-your-face wrestling. No "smoke and mirrors", no holds barred... just wrestling. To borrow a phrase from the WCW, 'Shut up and wrestle.' And that's exactly what I'm here to do."
