Hamilton gets In Your House

In Your House
By GREG OLIVER -- SLAM! Sports
 Hamilton, get ready to ruuuuuuuumble!

The WWF announced Sunday at their live event in Hamilton that the September In Your House pay-per-view would be held at Hamilton's Copps Coliseum.

Of course, it's way to early for the event to be named, or to know who is on the card.

Patrons at Sunday's show were allowed to buy tickets to the event during intermission.

It's the first WWF PPV from Canada since last November's Survivor Series.

For WWF Canada President Carl De Marco, it's a "huge" deal to have another PPV in Canada.

"It will be televised all around the world. It's a real big deal," he said. "This thing will be sold out really quickly."

Copps seats 17,500 for hockey, so there should be plenty of room for those rabid WWF fans.

"This will be a big event for us, and we're happy to have it in our own backyard," said Bill Custers, Brand Manager for Viewers Choice Pay Per View in Canada.

Tickets are available at Copps Coliseum box office (101 York Boulevard, Hamilton), all Ticketmaster centers or charge-by-phone 905-645-5000. No word yet on ticket prices.

The last real big WWF event at Copps was the inaugural Royal Rumble in January 1988 that was broadcast on USA Network and on closed circuit screens in the pre-PPV days.

On that show, Hacksaw Duggan won the Royal Rumble when he ousted One Man Gang.

Also, The Jumping Bomb Angels beat Glamour Girls to win the WWF ladies tag team titles in a two out of three falls match, Ricky Steamboat beat Rick Rude by DQ and The Islanders beat Young Stallions in two straight falls.

Copps was also the scene for two MoscaManias with NWA stars including a Ric Flair vs Dusty Rhodes main event where the fans cheered Flair, and Rhodes was forced to play the heel.

There is also talk of Vancouver hosting another In Your House PPV in December, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
