Wrestling fans...get ready to rumble. Live from the All-Star Cafe in New York City, World Wrestling Federation head honcho, Vince McMahon, announced the main event at WrestleMania will pit WWF champion ,Shawn Michaels, against rabid challenger "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Former boxing champ Mike Tyson will serve as a guest ref on the outside of the ring during the match. The very same kind of role that boxing great Muhammad Ali filled at the very first WrestleMania.
Speculating on Tyson's participation in the world title bout McMahon said "I am sure Mike Tyson will be more physically involved than Ali was at WrestleMania."
"This is something Mike Tyson wants to do. The risks are there but it's a calculated risk," said McMahon addressing the potential risk of injury for Tyson in accepting the officiating duties.
Long-time Tyson promoter Don King was noticeably absent from the press conference having appeared on the WWF's flagship television program Raw Is War hyping Tyson's speculated appearance at WrestleMania. During the press conference spotlighting all three main event personalities, Tyson refused to answer any questions about his financial circumstances or his break with King.
"Iron Mike" though was quick to assume his duties stepping between Michaels and Austin during a heated exchange between the two holding them apart at arm's length.
"I don't lie down for anybody," said Michaels with D-Generation X members Hunter-Hearst Helmsley and Chyna backing him up.
"Shawn Michaels, you can bet your last dollar that I'm taking this match as serious as any one in my entire life," Austin responded.
