RAW leaves an empty feeling

By MR. X -- Ottawa Sun
PARTS UNKNOWN -- More than 40,000 beer-guzzling, garbage-throwing spectators and a sea of signs spanning across the SkyDome were not enough to make last Monday's RAW show from Toronto memorable.

In fact, the show was lame in comparison to other recent blockbusters.

OK, we loved the Val Venis-Ryan Shamrock encounter in the SkyDome Hotel.

But the Vince McMahon standing over a handcuffed Stone Cold Steve Austin ending was not satisfying. Just as puzzling was what we didn't get to see. Those on hand for the show got to see Mankind and Undertaker come to Austin's aid and guzzle a beer with Stone Cold.

What's with that? Is Undertaker not the second coming of Damien? Do demons drink beer?

Also noticeable was the absence of Sable.

AROUND THE WWF: The Giant could be introduced at tomorrow night's St. Valentine's Day Massacre pay-per-view. McMahon has ordered no member of his corporation to interfere in his cage match with Austin. Sounds like a job for a Giant ... The highlight of the pay-per-view will be the Last Man Standing Match between Mankind and The Rock. Look for Mankind to again test the bounds of punishment. Other matches include: Mideon vs. Bossman; X-Pac and Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Chyna and Kane; and Billy Gunn reffing the Ken Shamrock vs. Venis Intercontinental title match ... Gillberg is now 1 and 2! The Dwayne Gill character pinned Goldust on RAW ... The Blue Meanie Bluedust character is a good spoof ... The Rock had surgery to remove fatty tissue from his pectoral area. That explains why we haven't seen him shirtless lately.

WCW BITS: Rowdy Roddy Piper has won the U.S. title from Brett Hart ... One of the WCW bits had Diamond Dallas Page's wife, Kimberly, thrown from a moving car. Big Poppa Plump Scott Steiner was the culprit ... Loud-mouthed ring announcer Michael Buffer is still taking flak for his recent flub. He introduced the pride of Calgary as Brett the Hitman Clark ... Guess Ernest Miller isn't the greatest after all. He was pinned by Vincent on Nitro.
