The Dream lives on in ECW

RHODES Ric Flair takes on Dusty Rhodes at the MoscaMania card in Hamilton, Ontario in 1988. (Toronto Sun)
Dusty Rhodes has finally found a wrestling federation where the "plunder" is plentiful. "The American Dream" got into a heated battle with Steve Corino during a recent TNN taping of an ECW show in Atlanta.

The incident began when Rhodes, who was sitting in the audience with alleged Turner executives, was challenged to a fight by the vociferous Corino. Because Rhodes was apparently still under contract from WCW, ECW was initially forbidden to show Dusty on camera. Shortly thereafter, all legal ramifications were thrown out the window as Rhodes hit the ring and took out Corino, as well as Jack Victory with his famed finisher, The Bionic Elbow. The dramatic and scandalous incident will air in its entirety on TNN's ECW Wrestling this Friday (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT).

Following the match, it was learned that Rhodes has indeed officially left WCW -- a major coup for ECW. Ironically, the defection occurred in Turner's backyard at the quaint confines of The Tabernacle in Atlanta Rhodes joins Raven, Sandman, Mikey Whipwreck, James Vandenburg, 2Cold Scorpio, Super Calo and Ray "Glacier" Lloyd as those who have left WCW. Several WCW Nitro Girls were reportedly backstage during the show as well, inquiring about joining ECW.

ECW Wrestling is part of TNN's new Friday night "Thrill Zone," which includes RollerJam (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).
