Leno about to get taste of Hollywood

By MR. X -- Ottawa Sun
PARTS UNKNOWN -- Wrestling has run the gauntlet as far as uncovering stars.

Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin ... it's a list of legends. But throw all athleticism out the window for today's WCW Road Wild pay-per-view, at 8 p.m.

Tonight Show host Jay Leno will step between the ropes with partner Diamond Dallas Page to tangle with Hollywood Hogan and his partner, nWo ringleader and real-life WCW boss Eric Bischoff. Who'll win?

"I'm going to make him look real bad, but good guys usually come out on top, don't they?" teased Hogan. "And, Jay's a good guy."

Also featured on Road Wild are a 10-man battle royal, a three-way tilt between Raven, Saturn and Kanyon, Stevie Ray vs. Chavo Guerrero; Chris Jerricho vs. Juventud Guerrera and Rey Mysterio vs. Psychosis.

Can you say stinker?

AROUND THE WWF: Sunny got the boot, appearing on an ECW pay-per-view last weekend, joining real-life hubbie Chris Candido. Sunny, who will go by her real name, Tammy Sytch, accidentally had her top pulled off. It's alleged she refused to get help at a substance abuse centre ... Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker retained their tag titles over The Rock and Owen Hart ... Heat is building between DXers Hunter Hearst Helmsley and X-Pac ... When last we saw Val Venis he was in a bit of a pickle. Turns out stealing Yamaguchi's wife wasn't a good idea. It seems she's the sister of Taka Michinoku, who was Venis' partner against Kaientai. When we last saw our hero, he was about to lose a certain body part on the chopping block. Stay tuned! ... Sable has joined forces with the Parade of Oddities. It was funny to see Kurrgan, wearing a tuxedo, croon to Luna last week on RAW. Golga went to the ring with a Cartman T-shirt and was eating Cheesy Poofs ... Tennessee Lee was pink-slipped ... Hawk's impaired act may have been a dig at WCW's Scott Hall ... Teddy Hart, nephew of Owen and Bret, may be only 18 but is about to get a shot in the lightweight division ... The WWF is getting resistance in using ultimate fighting's original octagon for its Summer Slam match between Ken Shamrock and Owen Hart ... The WWF bought the Debbie Reynolds Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for $9 million ... Brain-cramping punk rap rockers Insane Clown Posse should pop up on the Aug. 17 RAW.

WCW BITS: Toronto will get a Nitro, either March 1 or 15 ... It looks like Aug. 17 might be the Ultimate Warrior's debut on Nitro ... Why does Bret Hart want to suddenly be Sting's buddy? ... Sting and Ultimate Warrior were a team years ago, called the Blade Runners.

BY THE WAY: Abdullah the Butcher is alive and carving. At the age of 61, he'll wrestle in Toronto later this month. Also wrestling in T.O. is local grappler, The Bruiser.
