Edge is a Gretz fan

By SCOTT ZERR -- EDMONTON SUN
The fans were out early at Skyreach Centre, a good number hovering over the entrance driveway more than two hours before showtime.

But even WWF superstars are fans. Canadian talent The Edge, who was mobbed while out on the town with friends in Calgary Saturday night, would love to have been on hand for Wayne Gretzky's swan song at New York's Madison Square Garden, or better yet had the Great One's finale taken place in Toronto.

Although he favours the New Jersey Devils, the Brood co-founder is a true Canuck who was in awe of Gretzky's skills.

"It's kind of cool that we could be in this building where he started his career on the last day of his career," said Edge, a rising star who recently appeared on the cover of the Canadian TV Guide.

"I wish he had have done one more year, especially with the all-star game in Toronto next year because I'd probably be there."
