    Russians, Americans remain supreme

     VANCOUVER -- Any notion that figure skating's popularity has waned was shattered by the enthusiastic capacity crowds that packed GM Place for the world championships.
     More than 210,000 spectators dished out more than $7 million for tickets for 13 sessions, and another full house watched the exhibition gala Sunday afternoon. Much of the competition was held on weekday afternoons, too. Fans cheered for the favourites, and they cheered for everybody else. They were great. TV ratings were sky-high, beating NHL hockey.
