Wednesday, August 8, 2001 Myette pitches well in lossSurrey, BC, right-hander Aaron Myette enjoyed his second-straight good outing, but couldn't get the win as the Texas Rangers lost 7-3 to the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. Damion Easley's solo homer off Myette in the top of the seventh gave Detroit a 3-2 lead, but Gabe Kapler tied it with a solo shot off Adam Pettyjohn in the bottom half. Alex Rodriguez homered in his third straight game, hitting a two-run shot to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead in the first. Myette, making his ninth big league start, gave up three runs and seven hits in seven innings. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first on Simon's RBI single. Detroit tied it at 2-2 in the fourth when Halter tripled and scored on Myette's wild pitch. Last Thursday Myette outduelled Mike Mussina, as the Rangers beat the New York Yankees 12-2. It was Myette's first career victory for Texas. Myette was 0-3 with an 8.90 ERA in his first seven starts in the majors, but is now 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA. with files fron The Associated Press |
