Cena set up for 'Mania defeat
By TJ MADIGAN - Calgary Sun

John Cena will lose the WWE title at Wrestlemania.

At least that's the scripted climax to tomorrow's main event, leaked by wrestling insiders long before the 'Mania lineup was ever announced.

Over the past few months, the plot unravelled exactly as predicted, with Cena being built as a strong champion for WWE golden boy Triple H to finally dethrone at the biggest pay-per-view of the year.

It was a weak idea, even before the audience showed zero interest in a Cena-3 out of 5 collision.

But when several better scenarios presented themselves, and WWE stuck to its guns on the original plan, it showed Vince McMahon was dead set on giving his son-in-law a big 'Mania victory, no matter what the cost.

Unless the WWE creative team has a major change of heart, Cena has just one more sleep as the champion of the world.

"I'm feeling the stress right now," Cena told the Calgary Sun this week, trying to stay in character on a WWE media junket.

"Not only am I in the big slot at Wrestlemania but I'm in there with the biggest superstar we've got. I'm not usually a guy who gets shook up about that stuff but I know the ramifications of this match. This is a match I've got to win."

This is Cena's first time going into Wrestlemania as the champ but with an audience that seems to be slowly turning on both him and Triple H, his big night could turn out to be an absolute train wreck.

Memories of Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg at Wrestlemania 20 -- when the audience booed the entire match out of the building -- are still fresh in fans' minds.

But Cena insists the crowd reaction to his character doesn't concern him.

"I'm just going through that phase where people don't understand what I'm about," he said.

Wrestlemania will air live from Chicago tomorrow, starting at 4:30 p.m. MT on pay-per-view.

In Calgary, the action can also be seen at several city movie theatres and at Bottoms Up Sports Pub, 3220 17 Ave. S.W.
