WWE announces media blitz for 'Mania
By JON WALDMAN -- SLAM! Wrestling

World Wrestling Entertainment has announced the full-out media blitz for Wrestlemania XXI.

The promotion has been budgeted at $5 million, which will include local and national media, guerilla marketing and mall tours.

"Whether our fans are going to or renting movies, listening to the radio, sitting home eating a pizza while watching TV, drinking a cold glass of milk, going to the mall, or surfing the net, we want them to know about WrestleMania 21," said Kurt Schneider, WWE's executive vice president of marketing in a release. "Our fans are entertainment junkies. When our current, casual and lapsed fans consume entertainment in the home or out on the town, we want them to view WrestleMania 21 as a must-see event in April."

Promotion on WWE programming is in full swing, which has included a variety of vignettes spoofing movies. These commercials will also now be seen in Regal and AMC theatres. Advertisements will also be broadcast on stations such as TBS and TNT. There will also be promotions with broadcasts of The Jerry Springer Show and Howard Stern.

Promotion also includes the Road to Wrestlemania tour, which began in mid-January. Former WWE wrestler Hillbilly Jim has appeared at these events.
