WrestleMania 29 headed to New Jersey
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

For the fourth time, WrestleMania is headed outdoors.

WWE announced Wednesday its trademark event is headed to New Jersey in 2013. WrestleMania 29 will take place April 7, 2013 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., the first outdoor WrestleMania in a northern climate.

WrestleMania IX was held outdoors at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. It was 15 years before WrestleMania went outdoors again, as Orlando's Citrus Bowl hosted WrestleMania 24 in 2008. WrestleMania 27, coming up April 1, will be held at Sun Life Stadium in Miami and will be headlined by a grudge match between The Rock and John Cena.

MetLife Stadium is the home of the National Football League's New York Giants and New York Jets and opened in April 2010. The stadium holds more than 82,000 people for football and likely would hold a similar number if filled for WWE after their rather large production moved in.

MetLife Stadium will host the NFL's pinnacle event, the Super Bowl, in 2014. The stadium has hosted the likes on Bon Jovi, U2 and The Eagles.
