$5 Wrestling series a funny take on weirdness of armory circuit matches
By
MICHAEL ANDREWS - SLAM! Wrestling
Attempting to describe Highspots.com's ongoing DVD/download series "$5 Wrestling" is like trying to sum up "Mystery Science Theater 3000" to someone who's never seen or heard of that campy, sardonic sci-fi series. Take away the silly, rubber movie monsters and outer space setting and the two are very much alike.

Cornette re-books WWE in 1997 for new DVD
By
DARREN WOOD - SLAM! Wrestling
When looking through the archives of World Wrestling Entertainment, it is without doubt that the year 1997 is one of the most important in its illustrious history. During this period, WWE was a place where things were rapidly changing, the rise of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, the situation with Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart which led up to Montreal and the ECW Invasion were just a few factors which all contributed to WWE finally moving in the right direction to once again overtake WCW in the Monday Night ratings war. So here comes Timeline: WWE - 1997 - Jim Cornette to reconsider the big year.

Season's Readings: Wrestling books for kids reviewed
By
BOB KAPUR - SLAM! Wrestling
During the last week before Christmas, going to the Wal-Mart is like being in WCW's World War III multi-ring battle royal -- over-crowded, violent, and ultimately not worth the time spent. Fortunately, the book section of the store is generally empty of the hordes of shoppers gone wild, and a place where one can find quiet refuge. And some last-minute stocking stuffers for the young wrestling fans in your family.

Austin DVD pretty damn good
By
MATTHEW BYER - SLAM! Wrestling
When I set out to review the WWE's latest DVD release on Stone Cold Steve Austin I wasn't really sure what to expect because I had been disappointed by some of the past WWE releases. It always seemed liked they were missing something. The interviews would be too short, there would be few promos or vignettes, or the majority of matches offered were all ones that had appeared on a number of other WWE releases. So with the WWE promoting this DVD as the "Definitive Steve Austin Biography"

WWE '12 takes gaming to the next level
By
JON WALDMAN -- SLAM! Wrestling
For a couple weeks now, I've had the privilege of playing what I now consider to be my new favourite wrestling game -- WWE '12. No, I'm not exaggerating. I've finally found something that wrests the title of "best game ever" from No Mercy.

Three shots at WWE All-Stars
By
SLAM! Wrestling Staff
As we get close to WWE '12's release, we here at SLAM! Wrestling can’t help but get excited. After all, many of us aren’t just viewers, we’re gamers too. You need not look much further than our anticipation for another game which came out from WWE – All-Stars. Partnering again with THQ, WWE took a true fantasy perspective on the title, hulking up (pardon the pun) superstars of the past and present and pitting them in a more cartoonish, Street Fighter-style competition with exaggerated moves and combos.

Second Honky Tonk Man YouShoot proves he has more to say
By
DARREN WOOD - SLAM! Wrestling
The Honky Tonk Man, with his long sideburns and his hair slicked back, was one of the biggest and most recognizable stars of the WWF back in the 1980s. Over recent years the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time has also become known for his shoot interviews. Most likely this is the reason why he returned to Kayfabe Commentaries to record another YouShoot.

Bret vs Shawn DVD doesn't disappoint
By
MATTHEW BYER - SLAM! Wrestling
The WWE Greatest Rivalries: Shawn Michaels VS. Bret Hart Blu-ray was one that I had been eagerly anticipating since its announcement several months ago, particularly because it was to include a sit-down interview with both wrestlers discussing all they had been through together. It doesn't disappoint.

Mosca's autobiography a 'must-read' for CFL and wrestling fans
By
MARTY GOLDSTEIN - SLAM! Wrestling
Before reading Angelo Mosca's autobiography, Tell Me To My Face, I already knew that some aspects of his personality were exaggerated self-promotion, and some a genuine reflection of a talented athlete. But to say I was shocked by the intimate details of his life and times, brilliantly put together with Steve Milton, doesn't begin to describe my reaction to what he had to overcome.
