Countdown to TNA Genesis

TNA Genesis is just a few hours away and while the storylines have been well
developed, you cant help but get an eerie feeling like this could be the
beginning of the end for the company.
Already this year (which is barely underway), TNA has lost distribution in
the UK and the broadcast position for Reaction. Speculation abounds that the
company will be cutting its PPV schedule down and that it is knee deep in debt;
and if thats the case, then these previews may be fewer and further between.
So while PPVs are still happening, lets take a look at what TNA has cooked
up.
|
TNA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDER MATCH
Ken Anderson vs. Matt Morgan |
|
Though the storylines been fairly compelling, Im still not interested
in seeing this match. Everyone remains suspicious of an Anderson turn, which
means that a Matt Morgan heel flip is likely to happen. Anderson wins but Morgan
beats him down after "for his own good."
TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Beer Money vs. Motor City Machine Guns |
The series between these two was the highlight of 2010 for TNA; but its
too soon for this to be happening again. This illustrates clearly just how thin
TNAs supposedly rich tag team division really is. Im betting this
feud goes two to three months at least, so were likely getting a title change here
to kick it off.
|
X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH
Kazarian vs. Jay Lethal |
|
Lethal as champ is boring. Im really not sure why TNA lost faith so quickly
in Robbie E and Cookie, but I was starting to get into the act. TNAs trying
to turn Immortal into the all-powerful group, and that really doesnt bode
well for the company. Kazarians position in the company is lower than
its been in quite some time. Hell probably get the belt here.
| |
MMA EXHIBITION "MATCH"
Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle |
|
Jarretts been fantastic in this role and its way too early for
it to end. Thus, the Angle bout here makes little sense. Still, this should
be pretty entertaining up until the obvious guitar finish. DQ end in favour
of Kurt.
| |
TV TITLE MATCH
Douglas Williams vs. AJ Styles |
|
AJ seems destined to leave Fortune/Immortal and this will be the fire-starter.
Undoubtedly, this will be match of the night and could end up being a Match
of the Year candidate. Williams wins.
| |
MYSTERY MATCH
??? vs. Rob Van Dam |
|
The easy pick here would be Rhino, given the storyline that closed out 2010;
but a lot of speculation is that Matt Hardy is the mystery opponent. Given TNAs
financial woes, Im doubting its Matt. Regardless, RVD loses.
| |
GRUDGE MATCH
Ray vs. Devon |
|
The storys being told well, but that doesnt mean its compelling.
Ray and Devon fighting does nothing for anyone, and once the storyline plays
out, both will be in limbo. I dont care who wins.
| |
TNA KNOCKOUTS TITLE MATCH
Mickie James vs. Madison Rayne |
|
Too obvious that Mickie takes the belt here.
