Countdown to TNA Final Resolution
By SLAM! Wrestling Staff
We're set for the final PPV of 2009, and once again the honour goes to TNA
with tonight's broadcast of Final Resolution.
Yes kiddos, the last big TNA show of the year, and more importantly the last
major event of the pre-Hogan era, hits your screens tonight and there's a lot
to be curious about. The match lineup looks strong and many of the bouts have
had good buildup. This could be the most interesting show you see all year.
Let's take a look at what lies ahead, shall we?
|
TNA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
As much as I like Daniels, this bout just screams lame-duck match. We know the
Hogan regime will bring a hand-picked contender in to battle AJ next month, potentially
taking the title too. This should be a great bout to watch, but the result is
without question.
GRUDGE MATCH (Three Degrees of Pain match)
Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe |
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
TNA's version of Three Stages of Hell should be a great bout. Wolfe and Angle
have wicked chemistry and it's a virtual guarantee that we're getting a five-star
match here (unless something goes horribly wrong). Wolfe will take the first
fall and Angle the second, as always in these types of bouts, but to me Wolfe
needs the last and deciding win the most to stay credible.
|
GRUDGE MATCH (Last Man Standing)
Scott Steiner vs. Bobby Lashley |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Given that Vince Russo still has booking power, I almost expect this one to feature
a Krystal Lashley turn. I'll be more optimistic though and say that Lashley
destroys Scottie here as his true build begins.
| |
GRUDGE MATCH
Raven/Dr. Stevie vs. Mick Foley/Abyss |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
The dichotomy of Foley being in two storylines simultaneously has been interesting
to watch, especially since TNA has done a very good job in keeping both clear.
You almost expect Foley to get distracted by Kevin Nash here and leave Abyss
all alone. I'm gambling that's what will happen, at which point Abyss is set
on fire before the live audience in one form or another and takes the loss.
| |
TNA TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Motor City Machine Guns vs. British Invasion
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
The Guns are hotter than ever, but I'm not sure that this is the time to yank
the straps from the Brits. This will be a great bout that will likely end with
the Invasion getting the duke with some sneakery involved.
| |
KOCKOUTS TITLE MATCH
Tara vs. ODB
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Again -- TNA has done some amazing booking in building this feud. ODB's transition
to heel has been subtle but very effective. You have to expect that she'll keep
the title, though, and move into a feud with Roxxi.
| |
FEAST OR FIRED MATCH
Samoa Joe vs. Robert Roode vs. James Storm vs. Kiyoshi vs. Sheik Abdul
Bashir vs. Cody Deaner vs. Jay Lethal vs. Consequences Creed vs. Kevin
Nash vs. Homicide
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Nash gets the World title match, Joe gets the Tags (just for fun), Kiyoshi
gets the X-Division and Homicide is fired.
| |
GRUDGE MATCH (8-MAN ELIMINATION)
Team 3D/Rhino/Jesse Neal vs. Suicide/Black Pope/Matt Morgan/Hernandez
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
To borrow from David Spade, I liked this match better the first time I saw
it, when it was called the Survivor Series. Bad guys win.
