Countdown to TNA Turning Point
By SLAM! Wrestling Staff

It's Turning Point time, and the name is appropriate given the current climate in TNA.

Rumours abound that some talent want out of the company, yet were denied release, while others talk heavily about Hulk Hogan's "wish list" and cronies who will soon enter the six-sided ring.

So, going into tonight's PPV, you can almost expect the unexpected, which means that a very solid lineup is overshadowed by controversy.

We'll soon see how everything unfolds. Until then, let's take a look at the action.

  TNA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH (Triple Threat)

AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe vs. Christopher Daniels

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

If TNA is trying to recapture the lightning in the bottle that was this RoH reunion match a few years ago, they haven't done much to inspire it. The buildup to this bout has been incredibly weak and no one seems that motivated going in. Booking wise, you want to keep AJ as the face of your franchise. There may also be an inclination to give Daniels the belt as a reward for all the time put in over the years. I'll stick with AJ, with a post-match beatdown courtesy of the mystery man, Tomko.
Greg Oliver

It's AJ all the way, but I somehow doubt they will keep it simple, with just the three men battling. Silly, outside interference is almost guaranteed. Sigh.

GRUDGE MATCH

Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

This has been one of the best built storylines TNA has ever done. The final push Thursday added the extra touch of creepiness and made me want to see this match. I can't help be concerned though, given both men's penchant for stiff work. Both have a battery of injuries in their history and as unfortunate as it is, I can see one or both of them ending up on the shelf after it's done. My guess is Angle wins but Wolfe does a super beatdown after the bout is over.
Greg Oliver

Nigel's in it to win it, and he has to go over here to mean anything down the road. Hopefully Angle realizes that too.

  GRUDGE MATCH

Scott Steiner vs. Bobby Lashley

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

You can't help but think that if indeed Lashley is willing to leave TNA that this could be the start of his burial. Steiner's been making this feud work, but Lashley just has been so nonchalant that you wonder if indeed he is thinking more towards permanence with Strikeforce. I'm guessing there's a DQ finish to the match.
Greg Oliver

Steiner lays down for Lashley. Not pretty.

  TNA TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

Motor City Machine Guns vs. The British Invasion

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

This will unfortunately be a filler match. Invasion wins.
Greg Oliver

The Machine Guns have that little bit of magic where it doesn't seem to matter if they win or lose, but they always entertain and the fans are into them. So let's give them a win here.

GRUDGE MATCH (6 Sides of Steel)

Tara vs. Awesome Kong

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

Ugh. Doesn't TNA know that cages are used to END a feud, not start it? This will be vicious and I wouldn't be surprised if there is colour. It's way too early in the feud for this to be the decisive match, so I'll take Kong to not only win, but to do something to Tara's spider. I'm guessing Earthquake treatment will be happening.
Greg Oliver

It's hard to get excited about this. For some reason, Tara just hasn't clicked in the Knockouts division, at least for me. Then Kong went and got derailed from being a monster. I don't see this match solving either problem. Kong wins.

X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH

Amazing Red vs. Homicide

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

This match started with good buildup but has faded...fast. At this point it's so low on my radar that I don't really care who wins, and I think there are those in TNA who feel the same way.
Greg Oliver

This title used to mean something. I'll take Red to retain.

TNA KNOCKOUTS/WOMEN'S TAG TEAM MATCH

Beautiful People vs. ODB/Taylor Wilde/Sarita

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

The concept is good here, and if you do it properly, say putting the singles title on Velvet and the tags on the other two, it could work. God, do I miss Angelina Love. TBP wins.
Greg Oliver

The talent is all on the babyface side, but I only see the singles Knockouts title changing hands. If I had to pick, I'd go with Velvet Sky for a short run.
