Countdown to Destination X
By SLAM! Wrestling Staff

Destination X is up today and that means we're headed to another PPV bound
to be full of twists and turns.
Virtually every TNA title is on the line, and there are some intriguing matchups,
especially Ultimate X, which is pretty much the only gimmick people look forward
to these days from the southern U.S. group. We'll see how well the guys and gals
do in a few hours, but first, let's run down the card.

TNA HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH
Sting vs. Kurt Angle
Guest Referee: Jeff Jarrett; Guest Enforcer: Mick Foley |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
If anyone doesn't think there will be a swerve tonight, they must be new to
TNA. This is going to be a Russo-riffic win for Angle.
Chris Sokol
Judging by the addition of Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley to this match, I'm expecting
Kurt Angle to walk away with the TNA Heavyweight Championship, as a result of
something backfiring on Jarrett or Foley. With Foley putting Sting over as TNA's
hope to end Angle's reign of terror, this would be the sensible thing to do
to continue the Mafia vs. Frontline feud, and would open the door to Foley and
Jarrett continuing their battles with Angle..
Greg Oliver
Since they are building towards Foley vs Sting at the next event, the Mickster
will (obviously) be involved in the finish somehow. But where will the title
go? I think they'll make a convoluted mess of it all, with Foley turning on
Sting, but Sting retaining the belt somehow because Jarrett clocks Angle.

TNA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH (OFF
THE WAGON MATCH)
Team 3D vs. Beer Money Inc. |
| |
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Team 3D isn't going to be fired, and Beer Money Inc. isn't losing the tag belts.
Solution? Honky Tonk finish.
Chris Sokol
Team 3D will get the win via Count Out or Disqualification here, that way the
belts don't change hands and nobody is fired. Beer Money Inc has been extremely
impressive and a nice, uninterrupted feud with Team 3D would be good, however,
I see LAX getting involved at some point.
Greg Oliver
You know that smell of stale beer that you get in your clothes, perhaps after
a weekend bender? That's Team 3D to me these days. Beer Money Inc. wins.
|
X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH (ULTIMATE X)
Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley vs. Suicide vs. Jay Lethal vs. Consequences
Creed |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Does Mike Tenay know how stupid he sounds saying that Suicide comes from the
video game? I guess not. Christopher Daniels wins.
Chris Sokol
Suicide debuts and captures the TNA X Division Championship. With all the hype
and surprise appearances, this would work well to push Suicide along. The Guns
can then pursue Suicide, while Lethal Consequences get back to their involvement
in the tag team scene.
Greg Oliver
If they really want to continue the push of the seemingly ill-fated Suicide
character, then he goes over here. Should be a fun match given the competitors.

TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Sojourner Bolt vs. Awesome Kong |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Kong wins this one easily.
Chris Sokol
Awesome Kong retains the belt here and builds onto her feud with Sojournor Bolt.
Bolt is pretty good and she'll only get better. The Knockouts division has some
really entertaining girls with Kong being their perfect champion at the moment.
Interference will take place in this match, with a rematch between the two taking
place at Lockdown in the Six Sides of Steel.
Greg Oliver
Kong is going to have to lose again one day, but it won't be to Bolt.

GRUDGE MATCH (10,000 TACKS)
Matt Morgan vs. Abyss
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Why do I see Lauren getting the tack treatment in this one? Morgan wins.
Chris Sokol
Matt Morgan's been getting the better of Abyss and that will continue through
Destination X, as Morgan will get the win here. Something is bound to happen,
where Dr. Stevie comes out and inadvertently distracts Abyss, leading into a
Morgan victory.
Greg Oliver
Sigh. How original. Abyss falls on the tacks. Morgan wins the match.
| |
GRUDGE MATCH
Scott Steiner vs. Samoa Joe
|
| |
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Joe needs the win here to have any kind of credibility with his new gimmick.
Don't be surprised if Manu is one of his new crew mates.
Chris Sokol
Joe will get the win in this match to make a strong return. From there Joe will
probably work his way right back up to the main picture in the midst of all
the Kurt Angle and Sting controversy.
Greg Oliver
How far down the card has Joe fallen. Tragic. He'd better win too, or he'll
be in opening matches!

GRUDGE MATCH
AJ Styles vs. Booker T
|
| |
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
AJ deserves to be the heavyweight champ. His quest begins tonight with a win
over Booker T, albeit due to shenanigans.
Chris Sokol
Booker T will spoil the return of AJ Styles with a cheap victory. These two
should have an awesome feud, but Booker will get the win in this one, thanks
to outside interference or a hooking of the ropes.
Greg Oliver
Will Booker do the right thing and let Styles go over? It depends on how long
this feud will continue. I think this will be a non-finish of some sort, with
Styles getting the big win down the road.
