Countdown to TNA Final Resolution
By SLAM! Wrestling Staff

Perhaps TNA should rename tonight's pay-per-view (Final Resolution) -- my suggestion
would be TNA If/Then. Why? Because the top two matches both carry the if/then
stipulation (details are below).
Of course, knowing TNA and their love of gimmicks, I've probably just given
them an idea that they will now put into effect. Damn.
Seriously though, the card for Final Resolution is as solid as any that the
southern boys have put together this year. Let's take a closer look at it.

GRUDGE MATCH (IF THE FRONTLINE WINS, AJ
IS WORLD CHAMPION)
Frontline vs. Main Event Mafia |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
It occurs to me that there is no reason here for Samoa Joe to try to win the
match, other than for the cause of his team. That might be altruistic enough
reasoning for some, but for a character that's been riding the tweener line
for the last few months, you get the feeling he's not too happy with the thought
of AJ carrying the belt. So, I get the feeling that, indeed, Joe gets the pin,
giving AJ the belt, and the two then splinter into their own feud while still
trying to fend off the MEM.
Matt Mackinder
I have always felt that if AJ were pushed to World champion status, that he
could change the face of TNA and make it its own entity and not WWE South. The
Main Event Mafia, though a solid group, is simply a collection of has-beens
trying to recapture some of the old Millionaires Club fame of the old WCW. And
that's the problem with TNA: nothing is new --- it's all recycled storylines
with washed-up stars of the past. With that said, put the belt on AJ and AJ
my boy, take that ball and run, run, run!

GRUDGE MATCH (IF ANGLE WINS,
HE FACES JEFF JARRETT AT GENESIS; IF RHINO WINS, ANGLE IS GONE FROM TNA
Kurt Angle vs. Rhino |
| |
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
You know what? This is TNA booking, so I'm saying that Rhino wins here. Think
about it -- what bigger swerve would there be than to have Angle all the sudden
be "booted out" of TNA? Of course we all know what happens next --
Kurt gets re-signed by Jarrett to shut him up once and for all.
Matt Mackinder
Yeah, Angle gone from TNA. Sure. Foley calls the match down the middle, I would
think, but TNA likes taking new guys and turning them heel too quickly (see
Booker T, Christian Cage, Kurt Angle). One way or another, Angle gets three
on Rhino.

WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH
Awesome Kong vs. Christy Hemme |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
At this point, Hemme needs the win and the belt more than Kong does, so I'm
guessing that there's some outside interference, giving Christy the title.
Matt Mackinder
Kong as champion makes all the sense in the world and she is the best fit for
now and probably for a while. All that means is that TNA puts the title on Hemme
here, right? Methinks Kong retains and SLAM! Wrestling readers out there email
me to indeed tell me that I'm right when I say there was a former wrestler in
WCW and USWA named Awesome Kong (Editor's note: e-mail Matt by clicking
here).

FEAST OR FIRED MATCH
Motor City Machineguns vs. The LAX vs. Rock N' Rave Infection vs. "Black
Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Petey Williams vs. BG James
vs. Consequences Creed vs. Curry Man vs. Cute Kip vs. Shark Boy |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
The Styles promo this past Thursday, with the mention of Christopher Daniels,
leads me to believe that this match starts the process of the end of Curry Man.
So let's say Curry gets the losing briefcase. Cornette offers him the opportunity
to stay in TNA if he unmasks. On Impact, the mask comes off and it's revealed
to be Daniels. Cornette's ready to explode at the trickery, until Jarrett comes
down and defends Daniels, and says TNA needs him now more than ever to be part
of the Frontline/MEM feud. As a result, Daniels' future in TNA hangs in the
balance for the next faction war PPV, where if the FL loses, Daniels is fully
gone from TNA. This is where Joe turns on AJ over the title, putting the extra
heel bit over by causing the firing of his former friend.
Matt Mackinder
A total cluster and a way to get the no-names on the card. I guess Jay Lethal
wins.

SIX WOMAN TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH
Beautiful People/Sharmell vs. Taylor Wylde/Roxxi Leveaux/ODB |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Why do I get the feeling that the Sarah Palin impersonator gets the duke for
the heels? Feh.
Matt Mackinder
Whoa - a second match on the card involving women? Cool. Sadly, though, Billy
Gunn, er, Kip James, er, The One, er, Cute Kip, sorry, and Booker T get involved
to hand the match to The Beautiful People and Sharmell.
