Countdown to TNA No Surrender

TNA heads north of the border, and like a typical American, says they're going
to Toronto. Got news for our neighbours to the south - Oshawa ain't T'rana.
Okay, now that the rant is over (at least until we get to the match previews),
we can talk about the fact that this is the first time TNA has crossed the 49th
line for a PPV show. What can we expect? Well, Canada will walk away with at
least one TNA belt, and could have a stake in all four championships. Not too
shabby. Let's see what could happen tonight.

TNA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH (FOUR WAYS TO GLORY)
Samoa Joe vs. Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle vs. Booker T |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Okay, so how is this four ways to glory? Are there four ways to win the match?
I only count two (pinfall or submission). I don't mind the "road to"
the match being called this name... no wait, I do -- there aren't four ways
because Joe's already got the glory and he can win on a DQ or mass countout,
so really it was three-and-a-half ways to glory. Sorry folks, my bad -- I was
trying to think logically in a TNA preview. It won't happen again. Joe retains.
Jason Clevett
You know the TNA championship has only been defended on pay per view in a singles,
non-gimmick match three times in 2008? And those three matches all had a ton
of interference and overbooking? Remember when wrestling was champion vs. challenger
and that's it? Apparently TNA has forgotten, and thus yet another multi-man
match, with the same players, over and over again. Yawn. Joe has been winning
this exact match on the house shows, and I don't expect this to be any different,
not that anyone will care since the focus seems to be on Jarret and Sting. After
we get through this can we please start giving Joe some new challengers?

TNA WORLD TAG-TEAM TITLE
MATCH
LAX vs. Beer Money, Inc. |
| |
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Why are they fighting again? This has to be 20-straight PPVs for these guys.
Are there no other teams on the TNA roster? Russo, you should not be angering
up my blood this early in a preview - I'm going to end up in the hospital by
the time this thing is finished. I'm waiting for the Hector Guerrero swerve,
and I think it happens here. This is one championship Canada keeps, as BMI goes
over.
Jason Clevett
TNA seems to have forgotten what to do with LAX, despite being one of the most
over acts in the company. Beer Money retains.
|
X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH (TRIPLE
THREAT MATCH)
Petey Williams vs. Consequences Creed vs. Shiek Abduhl Bashir |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
I don't mind the build here, but I don't think anyone's buying Daivari... er...
Bashir as a title threat. Let's pray for Petey.
Jason Clevett
Expect Petey to get a huge pop and the audience to be squarely behind him. Hopefully
they will let the crowd have their feel-good homegrown boy moment and Petey
will retain, but knowing TNA, they won't. Speaking of great ideas in TNA, who
is the genius who put the sound of an airplane into Bashir's theme music? Class
all the way, this company.

GRUDGE MATCH (MMA RULES MATCH)
AJ Styles vs. Frank Trigg |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
There's way too little build on this one. An MMA match should have had much
more time to grow. Obviously this is only the first match between the two. If
TNA is trying to recreate Owen-Shamrock, it's not going to work. Trigg wins.
Jason Clevett
Far to soon to have this be a MMA style match. I don't care about the match
either, and its sad when I say that about anything involving AJ Styles. Trigg
wins with shenanigans.

TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH
Team 3D vs. Abyss/Matt Morgan |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Abyss and Morgan...sure, why not? I mean the two are big guys who like to fight.
Feh. Somewhere, Big Mama Dudley is yelling at her two boys for re-signing with
TNA. I suppose their reward will come in this bout 3D wins.
Jason Clevett
Abyss is dead in the water and TNA seems to start and stop on Morgan. Team 3D
just re-signed contracts, so this would be the renewal of their push as opposed
to their farewell match. Team 3D wins.
| |
WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH
Taylor Wylde vs. Angelina Love |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
A Canadian wins here, and really, that's all that matters -- but for prediction
sake, I'll take Wylde to retain.
Jason Clevett
Another special bout for the Canadian fans and it will be very interesting to
see how the audience treats both Canadian girls. I could actually see them turning
on Wilde and supporting Love -- we are wacky that way. This one is hard to pick,
I will go with Wilde retaining.
| |
GRUDGE MATCH (LADDER OF LOVE)
Sonjay Dutt vs. Jay Lethal |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Ladder of Love? Please - this should be called labour of love, because this
has been hard to get through. I just love that this is coming to an end... hopefully.
Dutt takes it when Val finally turns on Lethal.
Jason Clevett
Oh what could have been. An attempt to recreate Liz and Randy has turned into
a joke. This can't be any worse than the tuxedo match, can it? Can it? Please
tell me it can't. Both guys realize that Val is an idiot for not just picking
one, and discover they have bonded through violence. They then realize that
they actually love each other, and since it's Canada and legal, they get married
themselves. Oh crap, I think I just gave TNA ideas.
| |
GRUDGE MATCH (SIX-PERSON TAG MATCH)
The Rock N' Rave Infection vs. The Prince Justice Brotherhood |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
So Hemme's mixing it up with the guys? Riiiight. I think we need to send a Canadian
rocker down to Oshawa to kick the fake guitar players' asses. Hell, even Loverboy
could do it. The PJB'ers take it.
Jason Clevett
RNR hasn't won anything significant in ages. The Superheroes win.
| |
GRUDGE MATCH (FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE MATCH)
Awesome Kong vs. ODB |
|
SLAM! Predictions
Jon Waldman
Thank god they didn't call this a Bimbo Brawl. As much as I'd like to see ODB
take this match, Kong will come out on top.
Jason Clevett
Everything that the Diva's title match at Unforgiven wasn't, this will be. Hard
hitting, exciting, I love Kong. Crowd should also be rabid for this one as the
pound the snot out of each other, en route to ODB scoring a victory.
