Chaos rules at Turning Point
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

The old saying was, "Don't turn your back on the Wolfpack." However, thats just what Scott Hall did when he decided to no-show his TNA PPV return. With only two thirds of the team in place, Samoa Joe ventured through the locker room in search of a replacement, emphasizing how chaos ruled Turning Point.

The main event stage was set as The Angle Alliance made their way into the Impact Zone, anxiously awaiting Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash. Through the grapevine, Joe had found out earlier on that Scott Hall decided against showing up to Turning Point, leaving his team high and dry. Kevin Nash made his way out to confront The Angle Alliance, with Samoa Joe in tow.

With anger at a premium, Joe grabbed the mic and went off, shooting on Scott Hall and how stars like him think they can do whatever they want, but how all they really do is screw over the young guys and the fans. Kevin Nash appeared a bit upset at Joe's remarks which were capped off with a "Scott Hall, chico, kiss my ass." Joe ended his rant by introducing his replacement, Eric Young.

The match was decent with back and forth action, but it was obvious that Hall's antics and Joe's shoot were weighing on the minds of the competitors. Both teams gave it their all and made the best of the situation. After a series of near falls and break-ups, the match broke down in typical TNA style, with Nash jumping in and jacknifing Kurt Angle. Young, Joe, Styles and Tomko joined the mele with both teams reversing one another.

AJ Styles tried to make the save for his team, but was knocked off the apron by Nash. Tomko retaliated by clotheslining Nash, before getting smacked with an enseguri by Joe. Young then came in and whipped Joe into Tomko, who was dazed and hit with a Muscle Buster for the win. While Young and Joe celebrated, Nash immediately went to the back. Chaos certainly ruled Turning Point.

TNA Turning Point 2007 PPV Report

The show began with a package for Turning Point, followed by the usual Mike Tenay and Don West hype.

Match One - Six Man Tag Team Tables Match - Johnny Devine and Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) vs. Jay Lethal and The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

This was a solid match, with both teams laying it all on the line. It's good that Johnny Devine was able to find a niche after his flop with Raven; wonder what would have happened had Matt Bentley stuck around. This match saw a lot of brawling, with Devine inadvertently putting himself through a table. The ref got bumped during the action, as Team 3D and The Motor City Machine Guns went at it, while Jay Lethal and Devine duked it out. Devine went to use his kendo stick, but Lethal stole it and laid him out on a table, breaking it with an elbow drop. The ref was still out, allowing Team 3D to lay out Lethal and the Guns with the X Division Championship Belt, putting Devine on top of Lethal who appeared as though he went through the table. Good finish to get Devine and 3D over, this feud has been solid.

Winners Via Breaking The Table at 15:00 min - Johnny Devine and Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

Match Rating - 7/10

In the back, Crystal interviewed Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash. Nash was joking around about flirting with Karen Angle, while Joe complained about Scott Hall not showing up. Nash said he would be there and Joe said to find him when he got there.

Match Two - ODB and Roxxie Laveaux vs. Velvet Sky and Angelina Love

ODB and Roxxie Laveaux went right after Velvet Sky and Angelina Love, beating them down and pounding on them. However, in the end, Sky was able to subdue Laveaux and hold her as Love hit a kick for the win. TNA is trying with the Knockouts Division.

Winners Via Pinfall at 5:00 min - Velvet Sky and Angelina Love

Match Rating - 5/10

Jeremy Borash was with Kurt Angle who was about to approach Christian Cage and was worried. Borash mentioned the deep breathing techniques he does with Karen Angle and Kurt said to stay away from her. He then went in and told Cage that they needed to co-exist and he said that he would be the captain. Cage told him to take the offer and stick it along with AJ Styles and Tomko. Kurt said he would regret it and left. Robert Roode told Cage that he did a good job sticking up for himself. Cage then told Roode to listen to him and everything would be fine and walked away. Roode called him an "asshole," and Ms. Brooks replied that it took one to know one. He then told her to leave before he did something he'd regret. Ha, ha, good stuff.

A package was shown that highlighted the Eric Young/James Storm beer drinking contest.

Match Three - James Storm w/ Jackie Moore vs. Eric Young

Eric Young and James Storm went at it, with Young being able to outstep Storm. Jackie Moore tried to get involved by spitting beer at Young, but he ducked and Storm caught it. Storm tried to use a beer bottle, but Rudy Charles grabbed it away, allowing Young to roll Storm up and get the win.

Winner Via Pinfall at 12:00 min - Eric Young

Match Rating - 6/10

Mike Tenay and Don West then chatted about how Scott Hall had yet to show up and how Samoa Joe was upset about that. In the back, Crystal interviewed LAX who said that they were mad they didn't get a title shot. Crystal reminded them that an LAX member attacked Christy Hemme and that it resulted in some consequences. Hernandez said to bring it.

Match Four - Feast or Fire Match - Elix Skipper vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Senshi vs. Lance Hoyt vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Shark Boy vs. Chris Harris vs. Petey Williams vs. BG James vs. Kip James vs. Hernandez vs. Homicide vs. Scott Steiner

This was another example of chaos at Turning Point, as this match was just completely crazy. In order to get a briefcase, you had to grab it and then go to the floor. Briefcases were grabbed then tossed around, or stolen, with all sorts of mayhem going on. Shelly Martinez, the mystery Latino Nation member, ran out and attacked Christy Hemme again. Kip James grabbed a briefcase, but tossed it to BG James who went to the floor and secured his case, only to realize that he might have cost himself his job by taking the case. Senshi and Petey Williams also secured cases, with Scott Steiner suplexing Kip James to steal the final case away.

Winners Via Securing Cases at 12:00 min - Scott Steiner, Senshi, Petey Williams and BG James

Match Rating - 6/10

In the back, Gail Kim basically said that The Awesome Kong was going down and that she would remain the TNA Knockouts Champion.

Match Five - TNA Knockouts Championship Match - Gail Kim (C) vs. The Awesome Kong

This was a good match. The Awesome Kong is just a complete force and Gail Kim was able to hang in there and use her incredible ability to keep this thing flowing. Kong got agitated by Kim's fighting abilities and took it out on the ref who disqualified her for shoving him, and in turn, was Kong Bombed. After the match, Velvet Sky and Angelina Love came to make the save, but were taken out by Kong, who punched a chair into Love's face and then Kong Bombed Kim onto the chair. Security then ran out to break it up, but Kong brushed them away and left.

Winner Via DQ and STILL TNA Knockouts Champion at 9:00 min - Gail Kim

Match Rating - 6/10

In the back, Kurt Angle told AJ Styles that it didn't work out with Christian Cage, sending Styles into a frenzy, with Angle asking him if he was fruity. Apparently this was a pre-taped interview, because Karen says that she saw Joe talking to Scott Hall and Kevin Nash earlier and that their was some friction. Tomko talked about how they've turned on partners before. Kurt then says that it's worth a shot and said he'd take care of it. Styles said he was crazy, but Kurt said to let the captain do his job.

In the back, Crystal interviewed Black Reign and Rellik with Misty. Reign called Misty a fox, but Crystal pointed out that it was a rat, only for Reign to call her a rat instead. Reign then said that he was going to take out Abyss and Raven. Oh, that's right, Mike Tenay and Don West then explain and show clips of Rellik kicking Rhino in the head, apparently he's out injured with a stinger so Raven is taking his place. More chaos.

Match Six - 10,000 Tack Match - Abyss and Raven vs. Black Reign and Rellik w/ Misty

This was just an all out brawl. Tables, tacks and mist all came together in this one, with Abyss and Raven taking quite the beating. They didn't take the beating lying down though, as they fought back and countered the attack. Abyss was sprayed in the face by Rellik with mist, but he was somehow able to reverse Rellik into a mess of tacks and pick up the win.

Winners Via Pinfall at 15:00 min - Abyss and Raven

Match Rating - 7/10

In the back, Kurt Angle approached Samoa Joe who said that he must be crazy to be in the wrong locker room. He told Joe that Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were going to use him and then kick him to the curb, Joe appeared to be taking in what Angle had to say. Mike Tenay and Don West then said that the ring was being cleaned up, as a package was shown for the Christian Cage/Robert Roode vs. Booker T/Kaz match. In the back, Crystal interviewed Booker T and Sharmell. Booker said that he was going to finish off Robert Roode and pick up the win.

Match Seven - Booker T and Kaz w/ Sharmell vs. Christian Cage and Robert Roode w/ Ms. Brooks

This was another good match. Despite all the chaos, the PPV still churned out some good matches. The president of the Robert Roode fan club was there. Robert Roode and Christian Cage tried to cheat their way to victory, as Roode yelled at Brooks and grabbed a chair, however, Kaz stepped up and protected Brooks. The chair was sent into play, but avoided by Booker T as Kaz dropkicked Roode out of the ring and Booker hit the Axe kick on Cage for the win. After the match, Roode helped Cage up and Cage slapped him. AJ Styles ran down, but was shoved away by Roode. Cage then left as Styles followed.

Winners Via Pinfall at 15:00 min - Booker T and Kaz

Match Rating - 7/10

In the back, Samoa Joe yelled at Kevin Nash and asked that if it was a set up from the beginning. Nash yelled back and said that he was more worried about his health than this match and said that he would be out there and if Joe wanted to join him, then show up. Joe said he would show up, but he wasn't coming alone.

Match Eight - Kurt Angle, AJ Styles and Tomko vs. Eric Young, Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe

Winners Via Pinfall at 10:00 min - Eric Young, Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe

Match Rating - 7/10

Overall PPV Rating - 6.5/10
