Do you miss the Dungeon of Doom? Maybe you don't, but the concept of monsters in wrestling is nothing new. Canadian director Jesse Thomas Cook has taken that concept to a whole new level, in his upcoming film, Monster Brawl.

The film's promotional materials say that movie monsters will fight each other in the ring, but not to a boring over-the-top finish; rather they will wrestle each other to the death. Promising a ring announcer no less than Jimmy "The Mouth of the South" Hart, Monster Brawl will pit classic movie monsters like Frankenstein's Monster, played by Robert Maillet (best known as Kurrgan in the WWE), and the Werewolf (played by RJ Skinner), against not-so-classic movie monsters like The Lady Vampire (played by BSE wrestler extraordinaire Kelly Couture) and Swamp Gut (played by Jason Brown). As the film's poster so eloquently puts it, "It's the fight of the living dead!"

Speaking of the living dead, the film also stars TNA's Benedict Arnold, Kevin Nash, who plays the manager of the emotionless Zombie Man, who one might suspect is played by Triple H, but is actually played by film newcomer Rico Montana.

What makes the film sound more interesting is the inclusion of some legendary character actors, such as the iconic Lance Henriksen, who has starred in both James Cameron's The Terminator and Aliens, among other films. And Monster Brawl stars two veteran Canadian character actors: Kids in the Hall alumnus Dave Foley, as a ring announcer, and Gemini Award winning Art Hindle, who has graced some of the most well-known cult films and TV shows of all time, including the original Black Christmas, Porky's, and Kung Fu (with the late, great David Carradine).

With a premise and cast like this, this film looks like it will be appeal to both wrestling fans and horror fans alike (are you reading this, Abyss?!). Monster Brawl will not hit pay-per-view, but may screen at a theatre near you sometime in 2011, or be available on DVD.
