Seth Rollins

Colby Lopez, better known as Tyler Black on the indie scene or more recently as Seth Rollins in the WWE started his pro wrestling career in 2005 at the age of 19 in his home state of Iowa as Gixx. Shortly thereafter he would change his gimmick, which he would go on to use for the following years on the independent scene, Tyler Black. Under his new name he would appear in several promotions such as NWA Mid-South, PWG, SCW, NWA Midwest and even once in TNA before ultimately ending up in Ring of Honor, his new home for almost 3 years.

He debuted for the company in September of 2007 as part of a stable lead by Jimmy Jacobs alongside Necro Butcher in an attack on the Briscoe Brothers after a ladder match. The introduction of The Age of the Fall culminated in the upside-down hanging of Jay Briscoe, a sight so violent it would end up being deleted from the taped pay-per-view. Black also went on to make his in-ring debut against Jack Evans at the same event and would go on to win the ROH tag team titles twice in his run as part of the stable. Though he was awarded multiple world title shots against then-raining champion Nigel McGuinness as well, he was never able to score a victory over the Brit to become world champion. After his stable turning against him in favor if Austin Aries, Lopez started a feud with his former partner and mentor Jacobs that culminated in a steel sage match in June of 2009. From here on out, Black was making his run as a singles wrestler and though being unable to score the belt himself, was part of a belt change from Jerry Lynn to Austin Aries at Manhattan Mayhem III in mid-2009 as he eliminated the champion in a three way dance before falling to new title holder Aries. He would go on to defeat the champion at the eighth year anniversary show of Ring of Honor.

After his signing with WWE became public, Lopez turned heel as the audience saw him as a sellout for deciding to leave his current company. He lost his title in his last appearance for ROH to Roderick Strong before debuting for his new Federation in September of 2010. With his name changed to Seth Rollins, he went on to feud with fellow former indiestar and ironically future tag team partner Dean Ambrose for his FCW 15 title, leading to multiple Iron Man matches, as stipulated by the belt, that would end in draws. With minor appearances in video packages on tv, Rollins made his way to the rebranded NXT, becoming their first champion after winning the gold rush tournament.

Lopez made his WWE debut alongside Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns as part of the new stable the shield, a group dedicated to fight injustice in the company. After interfering in the world title match in favor of champion CM Punk at Survivor Series 2012, the team made their in-ring debut later that year, defeating the team of Daniel Bryan, Kane and Ryback in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match in the process. Though a part of a tv-storyline the faction still made appearances in NXT, mostly due to Rollins still being the NXT champion at the time. He lost the belt to Big E Langston after the locker room stopped the interference of his team mates in the match. After a short feud with Corey Graves, the stable returned to the main show, continuing to aid the raining title holder CM Punk and securing major wins against the company's top stars like Undertaker, John Cena, Ryback and Randy Orton among others. After feuding with tag team champions Kane and Daniel Bryan and distancing themselves from their former "employer", Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, were able to win the titles at Extreme Rules while third member Dean Ambrose secured the US title.
