When Alicia Fox got her first big title shot, against WWE Divas champion Mickie James at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in October 2009, it was a bit of a surprise. On the Raw brand since only the end of June, she had been given little time to develop as a character on-screen.
In a September 2009 interview on Live Audio Wrestling, Trish Stratus hit the nail on the head: "I saw Alicia Fox, her in the ring, I was pretty impressed. To be honest, I didnít know too much about her but I think whatís missing is what I always say is: 'I donít know who that girl is. I know her name and I know she can wrestle but I donít know what her voice sounds like.'"
Yet no one can say that she hadn't paid her dues in the WWE -- in the developmental territories and the main rosters -- since being signed in 2006.
Born June 30, 1986, the 5-foot-9, 129-pound Victoria Crawford was a model before inking a WWE development deal.
Initially, she was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, debuting in July 2006. That September, she started competing under the ring name Tori. When WWE severed ties with OVW, Crawford was sent to Florida Championship Wrestling.
On Smackdown, she was renamed Alicia Fox and was introduced as the wedding planner for Vickie Guerrero and Edge. Triple H would then play the spoilsport, revealing that Edge and Fox had a thing going. She would play a small in-ring role at the 2008 Great American Bash, when Fox tried to help Edge, leading to Edge spearing Guerrero.
The storyline over, Fox disappearing from WWE TV, only to resurface three months later in November, managing DJ Gabriel on ECW. On the third WWE brand, Fox would work off and on with Katie Lea Burchill, and was in the 25 Diva battle royal at WrestleMania XXV.
On the Monday night showcase, Fox was given a little more chance to shine, and by mid-September was a top contender for the Divas title. Though her challenge of Mickie James fell short at the Hell in a Cell PPV, she is expected to be a part of the women's wrestling mix for years to come.
